A Story of Evil

Chapter 56: The Shock

The first exchange of blows came in the form of rock lances and bullets met by ice spheres produces by two glacial grizzlies. The earth titans immediately followed through by creating rock pillars yet, the glacial grizzlies countered with the same type of move using the ice element. The collisions created dust and mist blowing through the whole field. Fragments of both also blew in every direction.

"How did you find us this early?" The leader of the summoners asked.

"It wasn't that difficult. We simply needed to follow the flow of mana on the ground. Not that you'd understand."

The earth titans produced another barrage of attacks. It was met by the same grizzlies. However, the spells of the earth titans came out on top that time around. Pushing through and hitting the barrier which was once again created by the sprite.

"Your summons are no match for us. You have two options…either you die quickly or you die painfully slow." The earth titan leader furthered and, was met by a valley of frozen allows which he blocked using floating rock shields.

"I guess you prefer the latter then." He said in a calm tone.

"Go to hell you cocky earth titans!"

The golems raised a wall of rocks while the sprite coated it in barrier. Other summons came out immediately from behind this. Two owl type units took to the skies. The earth titans tried taking these down but, the owls were simply too fast. Gaining speed rapidly and, as soon as every projectile was evaded, they began casting spells. Flapping their wings which instantaneously rained down feathers coated in wind and lightning spells.

An earth titan answered by raising one large arm from the ground., It was as big as a two-story building and it covered them entirely. This lasted for the first barrage yet, that was all it could hold out as the owls merged into one.

The summon created a beam attack that tore through the arm; making it look like a fragile defense. Two more arms rose from the ground; preventing the remainder of the beam from even reaching the earth titans.

The owl chained its attack by razor sharp wind blades and elctro-charged feathers. The vicious combination continued, followed by a tornado. A whole body of earth was produced that time around, still shielding the group as one earth titan ran on top of it. The owl tried killing this with its feathers yet the titan was able to dodge through every attack, jumping on the last evasion. He then threw his spear at the owl which was easily avoided by the creature. But as soon as the titan dropped to the ground, twenty bullet speed lances followed, catching the owl on its route of evasion.

There was a thicker cloud of dust that formed due to all the attacks made. The earth titans didn't miss this opportunity and continued with their assault. Destroying the terrain and shattering the ground in hopes of trapping their opponents.

This made it more difficult for both Sol and Alice to see what was happening. Yet they stayed on their position nevertheless because, Sol thought that they may be detected if they moved too carelessly.

"Wall Blockade!" Five more walls were created by the golems. Taking away the vision of the earth titans who needed to destroy these one by one. Yet they weren't allowed to take that much time as five monsters ran though the field, releasing a green gas which was clearly poisonous and toxic.

"That's not gonna work on us." The leader of the earth titans commented, snapping his fingers and catching the two monsters through earth made shackles. He then snapped his fingers again. Causing the same traps to expand into a large pool of quick sand. Devouring the monsters in a matter of seconds.

"Come on you can do better than that." He taunted and, as if heeding his advice, the poison gas changed color and smell. The earth titans realized quickly what it was but could not react on time as a flicker of light was made; creating a chemical reaction with the gunpowder filled air.

Explosion followed, strong enough for the summoners to create tremors of their own. Four of their five walls were also destroyed by the attack. Black smoke thickened and debris from the walls on the battlefield.

The two Voids watched this closely, with Alice being impressed by how well coordinated the attacks of the summoners were.

"So those are the guys we need to defeat?"

"Yup. But that plan needs to be revised if they get out of this."

"Roger that." Alice said, watching the fight resume as two colossal arms made of earth came out the black smoke, smashing through the remaining wall. This revealed the summoners yet, it didn't matter as more summons were actually created during the interval of the explosion.

"Don't think too highly of yourself. We all know your old king can't do shit anymore." The summoned creatures created another chain of attacks. Filling the whole ground with water and mixing this up with electricity.

Flame pillars rose from the ground, followed up by razor tornadoes which is composed of wind. The earth titans were still in the center of this vicious storm, unable to get away nor to break lose. The glacier grizzlies continued by creating gigantic ice spikes and finishing off by a blazing inferno created by an ultimate summon. A dragon which appeared for ten seconds just to fire the spell.

The field was once again a big blur. Yet Alice for one was sure that the fight was finished. She thought that the last combination made by the summoners would be enough to finish the job. Yet, Sol seemed unconvinced, not until he saw the results with his own eyes.

"Sol don't we need to change locations?"

"No. Not yet."

"Why?"

"I have a feeling that this isn't over."

"What do you mean it isn't? Didn't you see that last – "

Alice's danger sense worked at that moment. Her body seemed to petrify in place as all the hair on her skin rose from the amount of danger it felt. She hid back on her position, heeding Sol's words and, sure enough, as the smoke cleared, a different result was presented to them.

The earth titans only got their clothes a bit dirty but that was just about it. Their defense wasn't pierced through. Proving until the end that it was superior.

Meanwhile, their enemies weren't as lucky. Spikes pierced through the bodies of three summoners. There wasn't even any sign of life from these as their blood crawled through the spikes. Bathing the ground in this pool of crimson. However, the two other summoners were missing.

"Alice we need to move now. Bring out a core." Sol began preparing his sniper rifle. Their location was still hidden from the earth titans and so, they had an advantage on the unsuspecting foes.

"On my command, throw it right in front of them."

"But how about the explosion?"

"It won't reach us. Trust me." Sol said, with his weapon already aimed.

They watched as the group of earth titans reached the corpses; beginning to extract their cores. However, they weren't able to finish this as Sol gave the signal. With the opponents focused on the corpses, they didn't see the object flying in the air.

During this interval Sol shot at one earth titan. Knocking this person down as the core finally reached the ground. Creating a large electric explosion which caught the earth titans in the middle.
