A Story of Evil

Chapter 90: The Knight

The knight named Felicity is the strictest among the twelve. Although not the grand knight, she is also well respected and deeply favored by King Jubilee.

She holds a record for always arriving on time. The knight also has a perpetual prim and proper look. This is matched by her swordsmanship which was elegant as much as it was deadly.

As for her personality and charisma, both are top notch. The aura she emits is intimidating and authoritative. This was the reason why she was chosen to lead the soldiers and guards at the prison. For order to be restored on that area.

This same knight was the one facing the queen at that moment. The one who sat on top of the table.

Queen Octavia had her heart pounding loud. Like a drum being slammed by an ogre. Her legs were shaky and she tried hiding the same for her hands. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she looked at the cold concrete floor – thinking why that situation happened.

"That Matheo…did he set me up?" She thought to herself as her reasoning began getting cloudy.

Meanwhile the knight simply smiled at her. Felicity didn't move from her spot and looked at Octavia from head to toe.

"Oh? I didn't know that we'd have a new soldier coming in here this late in the night." She said, finally jumping out of the table.

Octavia had no words to use. No matter how much she thought about it, her fate was already sealed. She would get caught in that moment which was as bad as it could get. Octavia knew that, the reformed Jubilee would not let her actions go unpunished. The worst-case scenario of which that ran on her head was, a public execution. Stoned to death or, if she was lucky, having her neck through the guillotine.

"Aren't you even going to address me soldier?" The knight asked as she walked towards the queen.

"S-sorry ma'am. I'm new here." Was all that Octavia could say at the moment.

"I see. That actually makes this easier." Octavia was still looking at the ground at that moment. Unable to lift her head in such a situation.

"You see, you've already made two mistakes. The first is, we don't have any new recruits. The second is, I am not addressed as ma'am." The knight patted Octavia on the shoulder.

The queen's eyes widened in horror as she realized the inevitable outcome.

Felicity sat on the ground, gazing at the face of the person who was trying to desperately hide her face. With a twisted smile forming on her face that made all the hair on Octavia's body rise. She slowly unsheathed her blade, making Octavia see this clearly.

It was instant execution. Right at that moment Octavia was going to die. She felt it. With all the fiber of her being, she felt that the person in front of her wasn't human. That she was something beyond. Something scarier. Bloodlust rushed forth from Felicity; making Octavia wet herself from fear and, it was only at this point that Felicity finally acted.

The knight abruptly stood up. Shocking Octavia who fell to the ground, her hat being taken off of her head.

"HAHAHAHA!" The knight roared in laughter as she looked at the scene.

"Man, this is hilarious." She continued. Octavia was still speechless as much as she was petrified.

"Don't worry. I'm not going to kill you. I probably missed some reports on who you are huh."

"W-what?" Octavia didn't understand the knight's line of reasoning. It was obvious that she was an intruder yet, the knight seemed as if she was turning a blind eye on this. Intentionally.

"Oh well, you can rest easy. Stay here while I look at the reports, will you?" The knight said going for the door and leaving the queen to herself.

"Toodles." The knight finished, merrily skipping out of the scene.

Everything about that moment did not make sense to the queen. But it didn't need to. What mattered was that she was still alive. She wet herself and her body was still weak but, she was nevertheless still breathing. That was enough of a reason for her to begin calming down as she went and spoke to the person she came there for. Bishop Baron.

Octavia's legs were still weak from the ordeal. She stood up, forcing her body to function normally. For whatever reason, Felicity gave her body a fright that seemed to have embedded. Nevertheless she reached the cell.

The old man was sitting perfectly still within. As if he didn't see any of what happened earlier. He looked as if he was deep in prayer. Muttering some words as he had his palms sticking together in a praying position.

"Your eminence, I have come to pay you a visit."

There was no response from the bishop. Octavia could hear Baron still murmuring to himself. She didn't want to disturb him in prayer but, that was the least of her concern at the moment. She needed to escape as soon as she could and, that meant she needed the full attention of the bishop.

"Your eminence, it is Queen Octavia." The bishop still refused to turn. Firm in his disposition to continue whatever it was that he was performing at that moment.

Nervousness.

Fright.

Humiliation.

All these emotions were mixed in Octavia at that moment. Her temper was already running thin. Even the bishop was not spared from this. Hence, after being unnoticed on her second attempt, the queen finally snapped.

"YOUR EMINENCE!" She screamed.

This finally made the muttering of the bishop stop. He took down his hands and, although still facing the wall, he began interacting with his visitor.

"You need to calm down child. There is power in stillness."

"Calm down? Did you not witness anything that just happened?" The queen asked, referring to what she just went through.

"I am deep in prayer. I do not notice such things during this moment." The bishop took a glance at Queen Octavia before looking back at the wall.

"Now, if you have something to say, I suggest you do so immediately."

Octavia was pissed off. Both at the knight and at the bishop; including even Matheo who took her there. There was nothing that would relieve her more than all of their deaths. But she also thought about the "divine punishment" that would befall her once she hurts Bishop Baron. It wasn't something she wished for herself. Hence, calming down, the queen began speaking.

"I need to report something to you. I've tried reasoning with my husband on releasing you from this unbecoming state but, he refused to listen to reason."

"I see, that is truly unfortunate."

"Truly unfortunate? Is that all you have to say about this?" Octavia found it strange that Baron was calm. He wasn't normally so, especially when it came to matters concerning himself or the king. At that moment, both were mentioned yet, his disposition didn't change.

"If you cannot deliver results, then I cannot blame you. However, do not expect me to continue cleansing your blasphemous lineage should you fail."

"How dare you speak that way to me!"

"I can speak however I wish child. I am God's envoy and, unlike you, I will always have divine favor." The queen was inevitably furious at that point. She wanted to abandon Baron at that point yet, couldn't find it in herself to do so. All because she believed everything he was saying.

"I will slowly poison the king and kill him. Jules would inevitably inherit the throne then and, I will immediately ask for your release. You simply need to be patient for a bit more." The bishop was back to his prayer once again. Muttering words from an ancient language that the queen couldn't understand.

"This old man is treating me like a fool." She said, deciding that the conversation was finally over and that she needed to leave. She was able to give the information needed and, decided to leave before Felicity came back.

"I will be coming back your eminence. Continue pouring divine blessings on my household and I will repay you with freedom." With this, the queen went on her way.

She walked as calmly as possible. Despite all of the things that happened, she needed to retain her composure. She was still within the time limit and, after passing by a few corridors safely, she knew that there won't be any trouble anymore.

But she was wrong.

As soon as the queen arrived at the garage, she looked for the truck. Sure enough it was there and, a figure stood in complete darkness. Sure that it was Matheo, the queen approached with calm.

"Hey you fucking idiot! Why was there a – " Octavia's face froze as she finally saw the person clearly.

It wasn't Matheo. It was Felicity.

"Ahhh you're just in time soldier." The knight's face was bloodied and so were her clothes. On her hand was a bloodstained sword and, lying on the ground behind her was a corpse.

"What were you saying just now?" Octavia's body went back to a state of fear. Petrified.

"Oh my, did you forget how to speak all of a sudden? That's a pity." Felicity said, wearing the same devilish smile on her face.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to kill a soldier of mine. But I do need you to do something." She tapped Octavia's shoulder again. Making the queen feel as if all energy she restored was drained out of her body once again.

"I need you to take care of that little rat for me. Drive the corpse out of this facility."

"U-understood." Octavia didn't know how to drive. She was never taught this because of her social standing.

"Good. The guards will let you leave without problem and, the gate is wide open." Felicity furthered.

Octavia slowly went to the driver's seat. She measured each step carefully as her legs felt like they would give in at any moment. And although she almost slipped one time, she was able to ride nevertheless. Starting the engine as a hand moved to the window of the driver's seat. Almost making the queen scream.

"Good luck soldier." Felicity said. As if a warning to the queen who made the truck hit the wall over and over again before the tires screeched and she went on her way.
