Aztec Eternals

Chapter 6 Going Home

The blue sky sprinkled warm sunshine, the wind in the Mexican plateau was still cool, and the humid air carried the freshness of Lake Haltocan. The southern part of Lake Haltocan is connected to Lake Texcoco, and more than ten kilometers to the east is the ancient holy city of Teotihuacan, where Shulot was born.

Seeing Lake Hartokan, the team suddenly became lively, as if there was some kind of vitality.

The warriors rushed to the lake, fetched water from the lake bank, and drank the taste of their hometown. There are small boats on the lake, and the villagers who come and go greet the warriors warmly and ask about the harvest of the prisoners. There are also young girls approaching in boats, wearing only sarongs, boldly showing their youthful figure, and singing love songs of admiration for warriors.

Shulot blushed a little and turned to look at the village near the lake. A series of simple canals divert the water from the lake to the continuous cornfields outside the village, where black beans and pumpkins are mixed. The agriculture here is obviously much more developed, and the population is also more dense.

There are many small ponds between the village and the lake, and in the ponds are rectangular floating fields of different sizes, Chinanampa. Chinampa can be harvested 6-7 times a year, making full use of the nutrients in the river mud, with sufficient water and fertilizer, and less pests. The yield is nearly ten times that of ordinary rough farming. These Chinanampas were held by the nobles of the city-state to maintain a prosperous life. The great nobles often had chinampas gardens filled with flowers, herbs, and cocoa.

Shulot's eyes paused for a long time on a pond near a village. Until being woken up by Tells, the team set off again. Soon, a grand and simple city appeared in Xiulot's vision.

Teotihuacan has no city walls, and its walls have been buried in the dust of history, including most of the city. In the distant ancient times, this was the "capital of the gods" and the place where the gods left.

Shulot entered the city from the west and passed through the inconspicuous city boundary. What was presented before him was a magnificent spectacle that spanned thousands of years. Under the sun, a 40 to 50-meter-wide paved avenue runs through the north and south, as if leading to the end of the era. This is the famous "death" avenue.

To the north at the end is a stone square, 200 meters long and wide, with a square altar in the center. This is the Moon Square, a place of sacred sacrifices and a place to please the gods. It was the first time that Shulot saw bright red pooling into a lake here. The unforgettable shock made him realize for the first time that he had left the bloodless modern civilization forever, and came to this ferocious and cruel jungle. era.

The warriors marched down the road of death with their terrified captives. Further north of the altar is a magnificent pyramid, three times as long and wide as the avenue, and about 40 to 50 meters high. Looking up, there is a five-story pagoda built with boulders, and an exquisite temple stands on the top of the pagoda, with red and blue dyes rendering simple patterns, and many moons, stars, jaguars and snakes are carved between the patterns.

On both sides of the temple gate are four temple guards wearing wolf head caps, black leather clothes engraved with blue and yellow stripes, motionless like sculptures. The sculptures hold a half-meter-long and wide-skinned wooden shield in their left hand, and a one-meter-long obsidian stick in their right hand. The obsidian sharp pieces on both sides of the stick are shining coldly.

Shulot wanted to climb to the top of the tower several times, looking for a way to go back, but was stopped by the sculptures. Here is the Pyramid of the Moon, the bridge between heaven and earth.

Facing the team, and directly east of the avenue is another huge pyramid, facing the sun, with a base two to three hundred meters long and wide, and the same five-story tower body, but it is even taller and more majestic. The top of the pagoda is wide, with a half-person-high sacrificial stone in the middle, and the half-open Sun Temple to the east.

There is a tall statue of the sun god in the temple, facing east. A crown made of gold, eyes of jewels, silver ornaments hanging from the arms and waist, and behind it is a pure gold sun with a diameter of several meters.

The sun was falling on the top of the pyramid of the sun, and the dazzling golden light dazzled Shulot's eyes. That is the most lofty Pyramid of the Sun. Only sacred sacrificial ceremonies can be held here, and it is absolutely forbidden to climb it at ordinary times.

Olosh stopped with all the warriors and knelt down towards the Sun Temple in the east.

He prayed loudly with a solemnity that Shulot had never seen before: "Great patron saint Vitzilopochtli, under your sunshine shining on all things, we have completed this capture! As your eternally loyal warrior, We will dedicate to you the hearts and blood of our enemies until we return to the earth and dedicate ourselves. May you bless our bodies and weapons, and let us win the next noble battle!"

Shulot finished his prayers as well, stood up, and saw Olosh ordering the captives to kneel down to the sun god and offer their faith. The captives thought that death was imminent, trembling with fright, howling indiscriminately. Fear made the limbs weak, and the captives fell limp and crawled into a ball on the ground.

Not far from the west side of the procession is a gorgeous and continuous palace society, with colorful paintings carved on the walls and fluttering on the pure white cotton curtains. The heaven and earth of the gods, the sacrificial farmland, the rainforest lakes, tigers, leopards, snakes and deer are all alive in the palace. The painting shows the past and present, belief and life of the Aztecs.

This gorgeous complex was the residence of priests and nobles, as well as the daily work of the servants of the gods.

Seeing the returning team, a young deacon came hurriedly from the palace society. The young man is about twenty years old, and his appearance is as gentle as jade. He didn't wear a feather crown. He wore a white shawl on his upper body and a short white skirt, showing his chest. Around the neck is an ordinary obsidian necklace representing the status of deacon.

"Dear Orosh warrior, oh, and little Shulot." The deacon smiled and winked at Shulot, "Is everything going well with the capture?"

"It's not bad, Akap. This time we went to the territory of the Vastecs and found a tribe of savages. The opponent is very weak, and none of our soldiers were injured." Olosh nodded, with a serious expression as if he hadn't Recovery from prayer. Then he pointed to the kneeling crowd, "All the captives are here."

"Okay." After briefly counting the captives, he glanced at the damaged leather armor of the last few warriors. Akap smiled again, "You have a good harvest in the returning team. Give me the male captives, and handle the female captives yourself. Twenty-five sacrifices, it seems that every newcomer can be promoted gone."

Olosh also laughed, turned around and roared at the warriors: "Turkeys, I have good news for you. After this capture, each of you will be promoted to a first-level warrior 'Binder'."

"Tells, Marley." Olosh continued to growl, "You two will be promoted to the second-level warrior 'Vastek Hunter'."

Shulot saw two smiling faces who were also eager to fight, but one was cruel and the other was innocent.

"After I report to the elders, you can go to receive new battle clothes and cloaks tomorrow." The warriors cheered and howled excitedly. "But remember, this time the opponent is very weak, and you are still a group of turkeys! Only when you capture a warrior from Tlaxcala or Tarasco alone, can you be called true braves."

"Tells, Marley. You take these four-handed women to Nancheng and sell them to civilians who have no wives. The cocoa beans you get in exchange are divided among the brothers. Repair your weapons and leather armor!"

Hearing this, the warriors cheered again.

"By the way, if it's your own person, it can be cheaper."

As Olosh said, he patted Shulot on the shoulder again, and said with a big smile, "Sholot, it's a pity that you don't have this! Of course, you don't lack this."

Xiulot seemed not very interested. The boy lowered his head, watching the captives being taken away like cargo.

Only then did Akap take over the words, and he smiled and said, "Okay, Olosh. Now that the arrangements are over, you and Shulot will come with me. Captain Xiusoke has already ordered that once you come back , go to see him right away." After speaking, he took the two of them to the gorgeous palace society.
