Chapter 39: Eclipse the Moon

In just half a column of time, the lotus leaf was filled with green-robed disciples, most of whom had a pained look on their faces as they took out two yuan stones and handed them over to the “driver”.

Ji Yue Nian and a few other disciples who had refined the Xuan Sea took out one yuan stone each and handed it over. After counting all the yuan stones, the “carman” smiled and said, “All of you, senior brothers, this is the spell to activate the lotus leaf, let’s go.”

With these words, he took out several poor quality jade talismans and handed them to Ji Yue Nian, then he directly chanted the seal, and the huge lotus leaf was surrounded by mysterious light and trembled slightly.

After scanning the information contained in the jade talisman, Ji Yue Nian followed the “carman” disciple and the others and pushed the magic trick, and the lotus leaf finally rose slowly into the air and left the stone platform at the edge of the mountain service peak.

“Brother, you’ve earned a lot of Yuan stones from this trip, more than my share of resources for a year.”

A disciple who had handed in two yuan stones looked at the cart driver disciple at the front of Lotus Leaf with an envious look in his eyes.

The carriage driver disciple shook his head and laughed, “This senior brother, it looks like you are a new disciple who has entered the outer sect early by virtue of recommendation and other methods. Although you can earn dozens of primeval stones in this trip, 95% of them are turn over to the sect affairs hall, I can only get half of it at most. What’s more…… This lotus leaf also belongs to the sect affairs hall and I have to pay five primeval stones every day.”

The disciple was a bit staggered at his words and said, “So, even if you run for a whole day, you can only pocket one or two yuan stones?”

The disciple nodded and said, “If we work from dawn to yin, that’s twelve hours, we’ll get about three or four yuan stones.”

Another disciple of the upper realm of the Xuan Realm who was helping to move the lotus leaf sneered and said to the new disciple: “Did you just say ‘only’? Don’t underestimate these cart driver disciples, their backgrounds are all so deep that they are ten thousand times richer than us, you only have two yuan stones a month, but others have three or four yuan stones a day, how can you compare them?”

The driver’s disciple looked a little embarrassed and said, “I am poor, how can I have any background?

The disciple who had entered the Upper Xuan Realm sneered and did not speak again.

If one had not refined the Xuan Sea, then a ride on the lotus leaf would cost two yuan stones, so many newly promoted disciples could only go to the mountain service peak at least once every two months after arriving at the mountain peak they belonged to, otherwise their share of two yuan stones a month would only be enough to pay for the carriage, and they would not even have the slightest surplus.

The lotus leaves were not very fast as they went through the clouds and fog between the mountains, stopping every now and then to drop off their disciples atop the peaks.

It was only after about half an hour of walking and stopping in this way that Lotus Leaf reached the side of the mountainside of Eclipse Moon Peak.

“Brother, we have arrived at Eclipse Moon Peak.” The carriage driver disciple stopped the lotus leaf, his gaze somewhat puzzled, and said towards Ji Yue Nian.

Ji Yuenian nodded and took out the token for a little induction. The words “Eclipse Moon Peak” appeared on the flashing light spot.

Turning around, he jumped off the lotus leaf and a stream of azure air flowed out from beneath his feet, landing him firmly on the ground two feet high.

“Are you a newly promoted disciple?”

Ji Yue Nian stood firm and looked up. The person who spoke was a young man in his twenties.

“Yes, senior brother.”

The young man was sitting on an open-air jade couch and first got up to look at the many pavilions and courtyards surrounded by clouds on the mountainside of the Moon Eclipse Peak, before looking at Ji Yue Nian and saying, “Go in, just pick a courtyard that is unoccupied.”

Ji Yue Nian’s gaze was a little odd as he said, “And then what?”

“There is no then,” the young man sat down again, “There are only a few dozen people in the Atrium of Eclipse Moon Peak, and they take turns to guard here to guide you, the newly promoted disciples.”

With these words, he simply closed his eyes and entered into cultivation.

Ji Yue Nian looked up at the grand and majestic gatehouse in the atrium of the Eclipse Peak, and then looked at the young man below the gatehouse, who was practising with his eyes closed, and shook his head slightly, walking directly past the gatehouse towards the courtyard at the back.

Each courtyard and pavilion was extremely spacious and at least ten feet away from each other.

Ji Yue Nian did not go to the deepest part, but found a quiet courtyard and pavilion that was unoccupied, and walked straight in.

As soon as he entered the courtyard, a blazing white light spread from the pavilion, and the outer sect token in the white jade ring trembled slightly, as if it was extremely sensitive to this light.

When Ji Yue Nian took out the outer sect token, the incandescent white light frantically surged towards the token, filling it up in a few moments, causing an endless stream of incandescent white light rainbow to appear on the black token.

An inexplicable sense rose from the token, and when Ji Yue Nian’s heart moved, he slightly activated the token, and an incomparably thick light curtain appeared outside the entire courtyard, completely shutting off the outside world’s view and Xuan Qi investigation.

When he walked into the pavilion, several arcane lights surged up from the token, containing several paragraphs of extremely important information, which only emerged after he had selected the courtyard.

The rules of the Tai Yu Saint Sect.

More than twenty light curtains emerged, and Ji Yue Nian frowned slightly, covering them up for the time being and turning to the next piece of information hidden within them.

A brief summary of the upper court, atrium and lower court of Eclipse Peak.

After reading this, Ji Yue Nian’s face sank slightly.

Not only did he need to pay a Yuan stone to the Peak Master Hall at the top of the peak every month, but he also had to cultivate and take care of the spiritual fields for three days every 20 days without compensation.

Each peak has different rules and regulations, and it is not a violation of the sect rules for the peak master to collect yuan stones from the disciples living in the peak, but most of the peak masters do not do so, and instead pay the disciples for tending to the spiritual and medicinal fields.

There were a very few masters who were extremely harsh to the disciples in the peaks, and apparently, the Eclipse Moon Peak to which Ji Yue Nian had been assigned was one of them.

Suddenly, Ji Yue Nian thought of the odd look the driver’s disciple gave him earlier. He must have known that the Eclipse Moon Peak was one of these peaks, but the allocation of the peaks had been decided when the token was bound, so he could not change it without permission.

There were several other messages hidden within the token, and after reading them all, Ji Yue Nian’s face sank completely.

The master of the Eclipse Moon Peak was so harsh that he had even privately asked the disciples who had been nominated to the peak to take the entrance examination again in 20 days!

If they succeeded in the examination, only then would the Peak Master’s Hall bestow the most basic cultivation techniques, if they failed in the examination, they would be expelled from the Eclipse Moon Peak and directly relegated to the status of a miscellaneous disciple!
