Bored Gamer in Other Worlds

858 Chapter 858 Duel

"DING!" The lights in the basketball court turned on to illuminate the two strangers upon it. Aside from these two, there were of course a few audience in the dark.

These were the paid bodyguards of Luis Bell Jackson and some of the cleaners in the coliseum.

Even at this late time of the day, much activity was left for those that thrived in this business of talents.

"You can have the first ball, kid." Luis Bell Jackson offered as he passed the ball on his hands unto our very own protagonist.

"I could offer the same to you but okay." Clark replied. There was a smile on his face when he touched the texture of the thing on his palms.

He had always wanted to be a basketball superstar but found no real drive to pursue this path at all. Everything else became mundane once one achieved immortality above all.

"THUD!"

"THUD!"

"THUD!" The lone ball bounced a couple of times until a great rhythm was made. At the fifth breath, it was then that our bored gamer chose to time his attack.

"WHOOSH!" His body flashed to the right in epic alacrity. He was intending to dribble and pass the static body of Luis Bell Jackson in order to make a flawless lay up thereafter.

"You're much too green to make this play, kid." Luis Bell Jackson said and began to shadow our good gamer's movements.

Even at 40 years old, he was still in great shape and could match even the fastest guards in the league if he tried. This much was true also against his shorter and smaller opponent tonight.

"PEW!" The ball went in the ring in nothing but pure net. Clark did a flawless change in attack as he altered his lay up from left hand to the right.

The ball moved effortlessly well with his unmatched handles. Even the high reach of Luis Bell Jackson's hands and its advantage was negated with this perfect ball handling technique.

"Hehehe. I think that you may have spoken too soon, old man. If you keep this up, i believe that i should be the one calling you kid later on." Clark retorted in his own flavor of taunting.

There was open laughter in his throat and he was not in the least shy of showing it entirely.

With his absolute mastery over his faculties, this much was merely child's play for someone of his caliber.

"You were lucky." Luis Bell Jackson spat. He gathered the ball on the floor next and proceeded to go towards the free throw line for a rematch.

"The tab is 0 to 1 in your favor. Now it's my turn to score." Luis Bell Jackson muttered and there was fire in his voice.

It was clear that his competitive spirit has been set aflame with the earlier setback. It was after all shameful to get overtaken by an 18 year old kid straight out from high school.

This 5 time champion could not stomach such a slight.

"THUD!"

"THUD!"

"THUD!" It was Luis Bell Jackson's turn to dribble the ball and in time, he drove right down the middle as if intending to collide with the much littler form of his opponent.

"WHOOSH!"

Luis Bell Jackson did his signature spin move that has dazzled the mind of his defenders today but alas, the same technique would of course not work on our very own protagonist.

"DING!" The ring was hit by nothing but mere hands and air. The ball was nowhere to be seen on its vicinity at all.

"You..." If Luis Bell Jackson was surprised earlier then at this time, he was truly shocked to his core. One should know that the ball was stolen from his hands in mid turn during his spin move.

Such timing and predictive skill in order to make that successful steal was absolutely unheard of!

Luis Bell Jackson could have accepted this if it came from his old opponents in the league but not from a high school kid who stood at 5 foot 7 inches flat in comparison to his own 6 foot 8 inches of monstrous stature.

"Again." Luis Bell Jackson said.

"DING!" And he was left to eat our bored gamer's dust with a simple crossover move that left him blind, lost, and confused in the aftermath. The ball was scored again.

This time the tally was 2-0 in favor of our avid gamer.

"Again. Luis Bell Jackson said once more.

"DING!" This time a nasty ankle breaker was done and then a short mid range jump shot was enacted next. The score changed from 2-0 to 3-0.

"Again." And the game of futility continued. The score did not matter in the end. One scored while the other could not even get one point on this evening duel.

It was not a very great picture to see. Especially not for the living legend like Luis Bell Jackson.

* * *

"Enough!" Luis Bell Jackson finally gave up. He was sweating from head to foot and it merely showed that he had given his best in this match.

Even his signature fade away shot that was almost impossible to guard was proven ineffective time and time again against this high school kid.

And to think that the kid never even made a 3 point attempt in the duration of their battle, this was simply a monstrous talent yet untapped!

Luis Bell Jackson smiled widely even though he suffered a loss in the hands of this kid.

In his mind, getting one or two more championships in the future would be a done deal for him and his team.

He only needed to make this kid join his roster and it would be a done deal for all of them.

"You're hired, kid! I want you on my team." Luis Bell Jackson offered with a sweaty handshake.

"Hmmm... I never expected a different result at all. You were lucky to get me first, kid." Clark replied and threw the junior name back at the speaker.

A healthy fit of laughter came next from the bigger man.
