Purifying Mantra Chapter 29 Common Nightmare

Huang Xiao grabbed the paper and put it into his pocket. He put his hand on my shoulder and shook it. His eyes were full of complicated emotions: "Help me pay the medical bills and I will pay you back later." He lowered his head and thought for a moment, but he didn't say anything. He gave me a chance to interrupt and then said: "Take care, see you later!" After saying that, without waiting for me to respond, he walked towards the door. I chased him out. He moved very quickly and had already reached the streetlight, "Huang Xiao... "He turned around when he heard my voice, waved his hand to me, and then disappeared into the darkness.

"It's so weird!" Zhao Shuang stood beside me at some point.

I also noticed that Huang Xiao was strange, but I didn’t know what was strange about him. I frowned and looked at Zhao Shuang, wanting to hear his opinion, but this idiot said: "Go and treat the wound quickly! You need tetanus, and Rabies vaccine!" I punched him lightly on the shoulder to show my dissatisfaction. This guy always talks from beginning to end, which makes me confused. Every time I am blocked by him, I can’t ask questions. It’s so damn frustrating! Uncomfortable!

It was already dawn when I came out of the service station. I held Zhao Shuang's arm and walked towards my grandmother's house.

"Can you go back to work like this?" I asked, glancing at his legs.

"When you first take up the job, you are familiar with the environment. You won't be involved in the task immediately, don't worry." He said it calmly, as if it was nothing to do with him.

"We won't leave until tomorrow. I can't hide this injury from grandma. How can I put it!" I sighed.

"I'll do this!" Zhao Shuang was panting. I touched his forehead and felt a little feverish. "The doctor just said that I will definitely have a fever. Take medicine and sleep and you will be fine!" After saying that, he let go of my hand, tried his best to steady himself and walked forward slowly.

The eldest grandma was looking at the door. When we got closer, she recognized us and ran towards us with trembling little feet. My eldest grandma is a lady. She has always maintained a calm demeanor as long as I can remember. This is the first time I have seen her so flustered like today.

"You two wild children, didn't you say you would come back before dark? You've been here all night, and if you don't come back I'm going to call someone to look for you!" The grandmother's face faced the rising sun, and the soft light showed a She was haggard from worrying all night. She clenched her fists and punched us twice. When she saw the small wounds on my face, she yelled angrily: "Good boy! Where are you going to go crazy!" She said. After I looked up and down, I quickly jumped a few times to show that I was not injured. Looking at the worried face of the grandmother, the instinct that had been immersed in civilized education for a long time stopped me from telling lies. I glanced at Zhao Shuang as if asking for help.

"I drank too much last night. When I came back, I slipped and fell into the woods. This kid was also drunk. He didn't pull me and fell down. We slept in the woods all night." Zhao Shuang said it relaxedly, as if it was true. I could only respond to this unconventional answer.

The eldest grandma lowered her eyes for a moment, but when she raised her eyes, she still looked kind and cheerful, and pulled us home, "Just come back. You go and wash up first. I'll give you hot breakfast. After that, have a good sleep."

My heart contracted violently, and I raised my head to meet Zhao Shuang's eyes. We both sighed in shame. The eldest grandma must have seen the weird clothes on our bodies, and she must have noticed Zhao Shuang’s immobile legs. Even so, she didn’t ask a single question, waiting for us to explain ourselves.

The bathhouse was not open in the morning, so we could only wash ourselves with cold water in the yard. Grandma deliberately avoided seeing her, which made us grateful. My pants were all stained with blood, and it was hard to find a reason to throw them away here, so I spent a lot of time washing them and drying them on the clothes pole.

After breakfast we took medicine, lay in bed and fell asleep.

I was lying on a narrow bridge. The bottom of the valley was full of black mist. Three people came through the black mist. Their limbs were bloody and their bones were exposed. They gradually came closer and stared at me with pupilless eyes. They opened their purple mouths and rushed at me. Shouting, I was so scared that I froze there and couldn't move.

A pair of arms with shaved muscles hugged my shoulders, and his gray face came close to my ear, muttering in a language I couldn't understand. His mouth, which exhaled a rotten stench, was filled with wriggling maggots. Two other pairs of cold hands grabbed my wrists and ankles respectively and tore hard. They wanted to tear me into pieces.

My tongue was as stiff as my body. It pressed against the roof of my mouth, making me unable to make a sound. It also blocked my airway. The pain of suffocation made my lungs hurt like needles. I was dizzy and my body began to shake violently. "Zhu Mo! Zhu Mo!"

I took a sharp breath, and the cold air filled my lungs again. It was so fresh and sweet. A figure gradually became clear in front of me. It was Zhao Shuang. He was looking at me worriedly, and a raised hand almost fell on my face. "Wake up." It's up! I'm awake!" The voice I heard was sharp and hoarse, not like my own.

Zhao Shuang's whole body relaxed and he slumped down next to me. "You were twitching all over just now. I thought you were having epilepsy and going crazy!"

I sat up with a grin on my face, and there was no part of my body that was not aching. I brushed a handful of my hair, which was soaked with cold sweat. The things in front of me spun around a few times before they all returned to their original place. "It was just a nightmare!" It was as if water had been poured into my ears, making everything sound buzzing.

Zhao Shuang casually took a bottle of water from the table and handed it to me. I took two big sips and felt much awake. After a while, he asked, "How are you? Has your fever gone?" Seeing that he didn't say anything, he had no choice but to reach out and touch his forehead. Zhao Shuang's forehead was cold and his hair was covered with cold sweat. It seemed that the corpse under the bridge was our common nightmare.

After dinner, Zhao Shuang and I went to the bathhouse and took a hot bath without any pain. We shook our heads and chuckled at each other's bruised bodies. I carefully pressed the bruises on my ribs, and I was sure it was not a bone fracture, but just a bruise on the cartilage tissue. I had to go to the hospital to take a X-ray when I got back.

I applied medicine and changed bandages to Zhao Shuang in the bathhouse, and told him to go back to the hospital for a review and continue to receive rabies vaccinations. I felt a little sad thinking that I would be separated from him so soon.

After leaving the bathhouse, it was already dusk. Zhao Shuang took out the jade lock from his pocket and handed it to me: "Put it away!"

I held the ribbon on the jade lock and shook it in my hand: "What do you think this thing has to do with the ore?"

Zhao Shuang ignored me and stumbled forward. It seems that he doesn't want to discuss what happened under the locust tree now. I sighed, put away the jade lock and caught up with him. He glanced at me and said, "I'll get up early tomorrow and catch the first bus to the airport. Before that, what are you doing?" Go and offer incense to your grandma!"

"Well! I hope the car won't break down on the way again." I stretched my hands and feet, trying to get rid of the pain in my body.

"Tell your second aunt more about Huang Xiao." Zhao Shuang stepped aside, as if he was afraid that I would hit him.

"What do you mean?" I was stunned and asked too much.

Zhao Shuang shook his head and did not answer. There was no words for the whole journey after that.
