Chapter 31

Gao Lin’s small, white, soft body was carefully lifted up by the caregiver. It is flushed and moist from the clear, warm water. His fleshy wrists and ankles tremble and kick with tiny splashes of water.

He reached out with a slight tremor, fingers curling slightly. He tapped on the glass window and greeted Gao Lin inside.

As if sensing something, Gao Lin, who was fluttering happily in the room, turned his head and saw Mu Jin outside the window. His mouth curled up in an endearing babble.

When he saw a glimpse of his son after a month or so, Mu Jin’s heart ached, and he was moved. Tears could not stop falling down his face.

It was like hugging him for a moment.

“Xiao Jin?”

Suddenly a familiar soft call from behind, tinged with confusion, sent a shiver down Mu Jin’s spine.

The hand that was tapping on the glass window froze there. Mu Jin was struck by lightning and had only one reaction in mind.

He should not have come here. He needed to turn around and run away until he never met Gao Tianchen again.

And indeed he did. His legs had never been so strong as they did as he descended the stairs. He ignored the voices of those behind him.

Outside, it was already raining heavily. The dark sky seemed to be collapsing in the next moment. The temperature had plummeted even though it was summer.

As if he didn’t feel it, Mu Jin rushed into the rain without stopping his steps.

The cold rain pelted his body, and his clothes were already soaked through, but all he wanted to do was leave.

However, his arm was clutched by Gao Tianchen, who had caught up with him and pulled him into his arms.

His arms were wrapped around Mu Jin’s waist. Gao Tianchen’s embrace was eager and passionate, carrying a load of emotions that he could not vent.

Mu Jin was suffocated by the strangulation and tried to break away from his arms but could not get free.

“Xiao Jin…I miss you. Let me hold you please…” He could not see the person behind him. The raspy voice trembled slightly as a sign of his volatile emotions.

The person in his arms gradually stopped struggling and was quiet. The drops of water accumulated on his brown hair slowly fell down like silky silver threads.

“Let me go…we are no longer related…”

“No, you are the child’s biological father. My…love.” The tall figure’s head hung low as he carefully embraced the person in his arms. His expression was as if he were a treasure.

“It’s been over a month, and all I can think of is you. All I can dream of is what we used to be,” Gao Tianchen’s voice was tinged with a thick nasal tone.

“I have been unwilling to face up to your feelings, not knowing how to cherish you. I have hurt you so deeply that you didn’t even dare to come to see Lin’er.”

Mu Jin had not spoken, and Gao Tian Chen could only see the wisps of water droplets tracing down the back of his neck.

“Forgive me, will you? Lin’er needs to have a complete family.”

The person in his arms slowly raised his hand and broke Gao Tianchen’s fingers away from his embrace, one by one.

“I’ve never regretted giving you my true love…” The soft voice was as warm as ever, but it was drenched in sadness and hopelessness.

“It’s just that Tianchen…you don’t need to force yourself to love me…It’s just that you’re not used to me leaving for a while…you’ll meet someone you truly love later…”

“It won’t happen!” Gao Tianchen roared out in agitation, hugging Mu Jin in front of him once again. The clear, thin body in his arms, drenched by the rain, made his heartache.

“Come back with me!” He tightened his grip on Mu Jin like a madman. He buried his head and tried to nibble on his lips.

Mu Jin bobbed his head helplessly to avoid it, his hair raising a few crystal droplets.

“Tianchen! Don’t you force me…I don’t want to go back! I don’t want to see you again!”

Faced with Gao Tianchen’s forceful demand, Mu Jin’s emotions got a little out of control. Struggling with his hands, he sternly refused, but his eyes were hollow.

Before Gao Tianchen could say anything, he saw that the person in front of him suddenly lost his strength like a puppet with a broken string and fell straight into his arms.

Mu Jin fainted.

He picked up the thin man in his arms. Mu Jin’s eyes were tightly closed, and his body was drenched by the biting rain that made it cold.

His face was wet, not knowing whether it was rain or tears.

The villa’s lights were on from dusk until midnight, Gao Tianchen leaning against the cold back of the sofa. The cigarette between his fingers burned with a wispy white smoke, his deep vision hidden in the shadow of the light.

With tiny paws, Malt circled around his feet. Then with a sudden push of his front paws, his fat body leapt onto the sofa.

Caressing Malt’s furry paws, Gao Tianchen took it into his arms and let its rough, wet tongue lick his fingers intimately.

Gao Tianchen had brought Mu Jin back to the bedroom, and he had been unconscious since he was brought back. He had asked his private doctor to look at him. He said that he had not recovered well after giving birth. His body was weak, and he had used a lot of suppressants during the rut, which had great side effects, and he had to stay in bed for the next few days to recuperate.

Mu Jin was carried back in his own arms, soaking wet. Gao Tian Chen changed his cold clothes, wiped his pale skin with a warm towel and warmed up the blanket. He then picked him up and placed him gently on the soft and spacious bed.

The weather had begun to warm up from the slight chill of spring, and the quilt covering him was light but warm. Gao Tianchen carefully tucked in the corners of the quilt and left the bedroom, leaving only a classical brass table lamp that glowed yellow.

After smoking a few cigarettes in the living room, Gao Tianchen was still restless about the man sleeping in the bedroom. After extinguishing the last cigarette butt, he stood up and slowly paced towards the bedroom, pushing the door open and walking in.
