Evin was a boy tormented by the existence of a Voice in his head, which spent most of its days abusing him with words."I can’t let you think that this shitty thing you call your life is normal, so just accept my criticisms and try to make things better," it would say, constantly insulting and demeaning Evin’s decisions.Because of it, he was considered a lunatic by all, leaving him with no one to call friends and a father who did nothing but beat him. The only warmth in his life were blurry images of his mother, the only person who loved him unconditionally, but even she had left him when he was only three years old. Whether she did so because of his supposed insanity or not, Evin could never know.However, on his long-awaited 10th birthday, Evin learns that the organ that pumped blood through his veins was not a heart, but a mana-core. The revelation immediately lifts him from the ranks of plain old commoners to the level of mages – miracle-invokers who could bend the rules of nature to their own designs and desires.Another surprise befalls Evin, in the form of the Voice knowing how to cast spells, despite Evin never learning anything about magic in his life.
