Evolution: A Warlock’s Rise To Power

Chapter 191: Dungeon Tester

Lucan smiled. He had been working on the dungeon for a while and had lost track of time. Now that Silent was here, he was eager to go greet her. The warlock headed towards the exit and walked out of the dungeon.

Using a shadow tunnel, he returned to the surface.

"How is it?" Silent asked. "Will the dungeon work for what you have planned?"

"Yes, everything is set." Lucan said with a nod.

"Good, it is almost morning. You need some sleep." Silent said.

And it was true. The sun would be rising in a few hours. Lucan had spent most of the day with Gerald filming, then spent all evening and night working on the dungeon.

Silent grabbed Lucan's hand and pulled hom back through the shadow tunnel he had just left.

The two stood underground outside the entrance of the dungeon. "This isn't bad, it is kind of cozy underground." She said. "Help me set up my tent."

Lucan didn't hesitate to do as his wife commanded. In five minutes, they had the tent set up.

Lucan crawled in and laid next to Silent Night, he pulled her into his arms as she cast a blanket over he both of them.

Silent snuggled close to him and closed her eyes. They were both asleep within minutes.

It was late in the morning when Lucan yawned and opened his eyes. He smiled when he realized that Silent was holding onto him tightly, trying to steal his warmth. He pulled the blanket back up to cover them and laid there for a few minutes.

He wanted to stay like that for as long as possible, but he had things to do. After several minutes, he leaned in and gave Silent a kiss to wake her. She groggily rubbed the sleep from her eyes and sat up.

Lucan ran his hand up her back as she sat up.

A few minutes later, the tent was packed away and they had eaten breakfast.

"So are you going to show me your dungeon?" Silent asked.

"Yes, yes, of course. Come and take a look. It isn't entirely done, but it is finished enough to open it up."

Lucan and silent took a step inside the dungeon. He took her on a tour of the place and explained everything, including how the game worked.

"He, he, this is great. Once the other two lanes are done, we have to play together." Silent happily said.

"Definitely." Lucan said with a nod.

As he continued to chat with Silent about the different function he received a message. HE exclaimed after taking a look.

"They are here. Let's go up and meet them." Lucan said.

Stepping onto the surface again, there were ten members from the Windy Willow gaming organization wait for them. They recognized a few familiar faces.

Holy Willow stepped forward and spoke to Lucan. "Lord Quilldrake, Sturdy Willow sent us to help you, but didn't fill us in on what you actually needed. Whatever it is, you can count on us."

"Good, good, good." Lucan said. "Actually, what I need you for is a bit simple, but very important. I have set up a versus dungeon and I want you guys to test it out. Two teams of five will clash against each other. You guys are going to play a couple times and tell me if you notice anything wrong or something that could be done better."

The Willow people were intrigued and wanted to hear more.

Lucan quickly explained the rules of the dungeon and informed them that, as of now, only the central lane was complete. He told them that they are free to look around but suggested that they focus on the central lane.

When all ten people from the Willow organization received their mission, they didn't waste time. After they headed into the dungeon, the doors behind them sealed, not letting anyone else in. This was the first time the dungeon had ever been filled to capacity.

Lucan left them to do their thing. Standing around outside wouldn't make things happen any faster. After returning ot the surface, Lucan was surprised to see another familiar face.

Gerald and the director they worked with yesterday were both in the clearing.

"Ah, Lucan, I am glad I found you. We could use your help."

"Huh, what's up? I thought you guys finished filming yesterday." He said.

"Well… It is like this. We used the few people who bought your illusion abilities to finish the shoot, but they could never get it right. Even after several takes, it still looked fake, the illusion didn't look real."

Lucan thought about it, and then nodded. It was to be expected. "Just give them some time to practice. Using illusions is an art. They need to practice to the point that they can imagine what ever it is they are trying to create fully. If you don't have a complete image in your mind, then you will end up with a sub par illusion."

"Yes, we discovered that it will take some time and practice." The director said to the warlock. "But in the meantime, do you think you can help us out?"

Lucan thought about it for a moment. He looked towards Silent, who gave a tug on his sleeve to remind him that they had to leave soon.

"Alright, alright, I can help you for a little bit." Lucan said. "But I have to log out in a bit, we are both on a messed up schedule and are logging out early to try and fix it."

"Sure, any help will be appreciated, and don't worry, you will be compensated for your time. We won't let you work for nothing."

Silent followed Lucan and the others as they went to film a few scenes. She noticed that the entertainment industry was really pushing hard to expand inside of Evolution. It wasn't a bad thing, but change was sure to follow this emerging industry.

It was around noon when Silent reminded Lucan that it was time to go. He said his goodbyes to the others and contacted the Willow players who were still playing in his dungeon. They sent him a report on their opinions so far.

Lucan was happy with the things they had pointed out. He went ahead and extended their contract. They would keep playing until he logged back into the game.

With everything set, he said his goodbyes to Silent and logged off.

Brax sat up from the capsule. It was four o'clock in the afternoon. After a meal and a quick shower, he picked up his phone and made a short call.

With an appointment set, Brax quickly got dressed in a set of decent clothes and head for his car. It took half an hour to drive down town. He parked in front of a law firm. His lawyer worked here. Brax left the car and entered the building.

The receptionist greeted him as he entered. "Mr. Tomlin, Clark is waiting for you in the conference room." She said.

Brax followed as she led the way. After entering to conference room, he took a seat across from his lawyer, Clark Winston.

"It seems like you have had an eventful couple of days." The lawyer said to Brax.

"Indeed Mr. Winston. Things have been quite tiring."

"Please, just call me Clark. And don't worry, we will seek out those accountable and make sure that they pay the price for stepping outside of the lines. Can you go ahead and walk me through what happened again."

"Well, it is like this…"

Lucan told Clark about how he was driving home from the gym when he was pulled over by the police officers and what happened afterwards. By the end of the story, Clark had filled up several pages in his notebook. He then went through it with Brax.

"Illegal detainment, Illegal search, planting evidence, possession of narcotics, assault, refusing to let you make a phone call. These people have really gone to far this time. Don't worry Mr. Tomlin, I won't let these people get away with what they have done. I will be filling a lawsuit against the Flower City police department tomorrow morning."

Lucan nodded his approval.

"I will give you an update every couple of days. When it is time to go to court, you will have to show up and make a statement. This video you have is solid evidence. It shows that they had no reason to stop you and they planted the drugs in your car. With this, everything should be smooth sailing. When the city wants to settle this outside of the court, would you be open to a settlement?" Clark asked.

"I am not opposed to it."

"Give me a number. I am sure the city will want this to go away and will try to throw money at you to go away. How much will it take to drop the lawsuit. How much do you want me to take from them?"

"Eh money? I am far more interested in who persuaded these two officers to ruin their carrers to do this. I have never met them before, some one must have put them up to this."

"Then, as far as settling outside the court with a big check?"

"I have plenty of money, I am not worried about that. If you can get the officers to give up whoever told them to do this, I will drop the case."

"Alright, I understand. I will get the paper work completed tomorrow and file a lawsuit. It you have any questions or issues in the meantime, give me a call."
