I Am the President of the University

A few words about general education and the development of Guanghua University (free)

The previous chapter has been revised and a thousand words have been added. There is no charge for additional words. Please refresh it and take a look.

Yesterday, I checked the information all afternoon and downloaded a few papers from CNKI, so I was delayed in coding. I’m really sorry!

Let’s talk about general education.

American university courses can be divided into three categories:

Major requirement

Elective courses

General education courses (general; requirement)

General education courses came into being. For example, if you choose an engineering major, you are also required to study literature, English, social sciences and other subjects. This type of course selection method is usually presented in the form of core courses in American universities. That is to say, in addition to completing the credits for this major, you must also complete courses in other professional fields through electives.

Here, I have to mention the undergraduate education in the United States, which is commonly known as American undergraduate education. The education standard of American universities is indeed good, and it is also the best in the world. The country is currently transitioning from specialized education to general education, just like our country's characteristic socialism, and we are exploring an undergraduate education reform that is suitable for the development of our country's education.

(Don’t argue with me, unless you are an education major. I have checked a lot of information in the past few days, and CNKI has also published many articles. I am definitely more professional than you.)

Undergraduate general education in the United States focuses on students' understanding of global and non-native cultures, with the purpose of equipping students with a broader global perspective and providing new perspectives and new ideas for dealing with problems and looking at culture.

Here is an example from the University of Chicago.

If Columbia University is a pioneer in general education, then the University of Chicago expanded the two-year system to a four-year system, allowing the core courses to take initial shape, which also laid the foundation for this model with American characteristics.

Today, the University of Chicago has divided its core courses into three major categories as admissions competition becomes increasingly fierce:

1.Humanities, civilization, art

2.Natural science, physics, mathematics

3.Social Sciences

and optional foreign language study.

According to the introduction of core courses by the University of Chicago, its significance is that students can apply the methods learned in one subject to another completely different subject.

This is the interactivity of knowledge. For example, an engineering student can apply the logic and reasoning methods learned in mathematics and physics classes to solve engineering problems. Even in future work, the accumulation of knowledge brought about by core courses can solve most problems.

Secondly, many students who have just entered college are not ready to accept "specialized" academic courses, so core courses are not only an accumulation process, but also a transitional process.

This is also the unique teaching method of American universities, which is to match knowledge and skills with work needs. Helping students succeed in the workplace is not only to provide the required professional knowledge, but also to cultivate thinking patterns and accumulate experience. This is also the ultimate goal of general education and core courses.

Therefore, when being accepted by American universities, students should not only value their professional knowledge, but more importantly, develop their personality traits and natural potential and improve their soft skills during their studies.

As can be seen from the above, this undergraduate education system is indeed the best because it can expand your thinking horizons and allow you to think and solve problems from more directions.

Professional education. For example, if you major in literature, you may have taken one or two entry-level mathematics courses, but you may not have been exposed to other physics, astronomy, and art.

You will fall into limitations when you look at problems or think.

But why did Peking University’s Yuanpei undergraduate education reform fail?

It's obviously not that easy to make a successful transition.

Otherwise, we would not be the only country with distinctive socialism.

First of all, American education is a small class education with not many students. A university with 10,000 students has more than 1,000 teachers, or even 2,000 teachers, reaching a ratio of 1:5.

Our country... After all, we have a large population and we understand everything.

In general education in the United States, for example, student A is very interested in astronomy or ancient Chinese literature, but it is not available in the school. What should I do? The United States will offer a course directly to this student.

Foreign countries attach great importance to general education. In order to allow students to dabble in various fields at the undergraduate level, try various disciplines and study both arts and sciences.

Students learn various fields through trial and error to find their ultimate academic and career direction. For example, among the top 30 prestigious universities in the United States, only a few schools offer business-related majors for undergraduates, and they are generally comprehensive business majors, while there are almost no subdivision majors such as finance and actuarial science. This is why they believe that it is difficult to accumulate the various knowledge and abilities required for business without practical experience. Students need to study and understand various branches of business before they can further determine their future study and career plans.

Basically every school in China now has a school of economics and management... I won’t go into details.

And why did the country fail?

It will be analyzed in the content later. The other one is Guanghua University. If you want to become the world's number one university, you must find your own path.

Coupled with systematic help and the assistance of technology and scientific research, I think the possibility is still very high.

Private universities are actually just like companies, easy to turn around, and Chen Hao can do whatever he wants.

In fact, there is no need to write it so complicatedly, just write all kinds of slaps in the face and all kinds of pleasures. But I have a bit of obsessive-compulsive disorder, and I had this beginning and the principal’s article several years ago. It's also the story I've always wanted to write.

In my mind, I think China should have a university like Guanghua!

There are masters in various fields, the most advanced equipment, and the most top-notch education here. Students can receive sufficient knowledge here. Whether you are poor or rich, there is only one student identity.

You can do scientific research, start a business, join the system, or do whatever you want. As long as you don't violate the law and you want to be a person who contributes to the country, you can do it.

I’ve written too much again, my balls ached, and I’m almost done with one chapter. The takeout arrived an hour ago, and I think the food is already cold, so I went to eat.

ps: This is not to brag about American education. I would like to clarify that the author is very patriotic. If I betray my country, I will die!

Where the other party is indeed excellent, we cannot wear colored glasses. We should study with a correct attitude, take the essence and discard the dross. You cannot have the mentality of being closed to the country, but you can be patriotic, but you must be patriotic rationally and make contributions to the country. Otherwise, what's the difference between being a virgin bitch, right?
