I Became A System

Chapter 62 - Barrier

"Young Master, are we ready for the assault?" A man in regular armor asked one of the executives.

"Yes. Prepare the artifact for breaking a barrier. I can feel some energy that blocking my clairvoyance from afar." The young man in executive armor answered.

"Yes, right away." The man responds as he bowed before leaving the young man.

As he was the only one left in front of the entrance of the cave, he pondered, as to why this is happening to him.

He felt something inside the cave, something that he hasn't felt before. As he got an ability to perceive everything, enough to be called at the peak of the ranking of runes, he still can't fathom the presence inside the cave.

He just thought that it might be a barrier so that an ability effect can't pass through it, however, he was confident that no one in the region can rival his perception.

As his perception is strong, he can also see the future using his full potential.

The truth is, when he was young, just the day he activated his rune, he was able to see through emotions. On the second day, he was able to see through lies. And more extraordinary ability in perception he experienced.

Moments later, a group of mages wearing robes in one color lined up in front of the young man.

"Young Master, here are the mages."

"I see, then let's start to get it. As for the mages, stay behind the vanguard, remain at the mid guard."

"Yes, Young Master!" They answered in unison.

The executives, just like him wearing unique armor approached him. They were wearing a positive expressions on their face. As their number is 6, the young man still didn't pay attention to them, focusing on the venture.

"Verxal, don't tell me you're getting nervous?" One asked him in a joking manner.

"Shut up, Ilmar! This is something that you must t act carefreely. We're talking of a possible A-rank monster. Who knows if they are variant too."

"What's the chance? Even if it was, we're Platinum-rankers. Even an S-rank monster can be defeated like a fly for us." Another one said.

"Yeah, you're always like that, nonchalant. Did you forget how you got cheated on?" Verxal sneered as he glared at him.

"What? Don't tell me you got cheated?!" Another one intervened with their conversation.

"Oh my goodness, Carceas! You got cheated! That's a headline!"

"Verxal! Why did you spill it! Argh!"

"Telling you to be serious always, that's what you get."

More hours passed as they ventured into the cave. They were even confused as to why on their way, the corpses of Evergreen Monkeys were scattered.

They inspected it as they passed through them. Although it was killed in a barbaric manner, they still concluded that it was slain pretty effectively.

"That means that there are ones who came before us."

"Yup. And from the picture, it was as if they were using some huge blunt weapons."

"You're right. They are pretty strong huh? Even it's kind of barbaric without class, it still nice."

Other executives just inspected the corpse without halting the venture as it was important to finish it already.

As they concluded everything, a conclusion pops inside Verxal's head.

"We must get to hurry! If there are still corpses here, it means that they didn't carry it back, so it could mean that they are still inside." Verxal hysterically announced.

Now that he said it, everyone got serious. They may be seen as nonchalant persons, however, they have some attitude of justly.

Their group is even well-known for being braves.

"Let's hurry! No time to waste!" Verxal exclaims as they hasten their pace.

Hours later, they started hearing some rambling. Reverberating is even present at the moment as if two swords are colliding every time.

Now, that made even the situation more confusing. If these people's targets are monsters, why would that sound echo through the cave if not for reason that they are fighting with each other?

They quickly head to the source but they were halted when a collision happened. It was as if an invisible barrier stop them.

"This was the reason why I can't use my ability. So it was interfering with my clairvoyance? Perhaps both spiritual and physical barrier." Verxal concluded.

"You're really smart."

"Yeah, smart!"

"Genius, as expected!"

Even with the worst situation, their seriousness is still blended with their childish personality.

The people behind them can just question. Why are they nonchalant? Even they don't know that they are serious, just their personality is slightly diagonal.

"Hm... Prepare the mages." He ordered.

"Yes, Young Master!"

The mages at their back started to approach the invisible. As they put some items on the ground, more to be described as majestic treasures, Verxal ordered them.

"Start the treasure."

Every mage placed their palm onto the artifact. As they activated their runes, each of them glows strongly as a result of it.

However, no magical elements neither spells are used. The mages are using their stamina to fuel up the treasure with the mana they can get in the environment.

As secluded areas are well abundant in mana, they easily fueled up the artifact, activating it to gleam a bright light.

The barrier started to be visible to their naked eyes. It appears to be transparent and seconds later, it cracked like glass, breaking down into pieces. This allows them to enter the space, finally.

"Continue!" Verxal announced.

Being haste, they finally went to the source of the noise, only to witness a beautiful young lady, fighting with an elderly.

At their second gaze, they noticed the corpses of men with pale skin, wearing a tribal outfit.

"Who's that lady?" One of the executives uttered.

"That's not important. Look there, the Giant Evergreen Ape is eating the corpse. But why these two are fighting with each other?"

"There must be something in this. Come on, let's attack the monster and leave them."

Even Verxal wasn't agreeing with the decision, he can't do anything since their goal is to kill the monster.

On the other hand, the lady that they saw started to glow in blue light, taking their attention, almost forgetting the cause of their diversion.

"What the?"

Seconds later, the lady started to overpower the elder, pushing it to retreat.

'What a powerful attack. I must not underestimate this girl!" He cursed inwardly.

The young lady gracefully swayed her sword, hitting every weak point of the elder. And a moment later, the elder started to breathe heavily, covering his marks.

"You're quite strong. Oh, I didn't notice, we have a visitor..." He started to halt in his talk when he saw the plenty of people before him. He felt threatened, not for his life, but his Lady's life, the Giant Evergreen Ape.

"NO, MY LADY-!" But before he could get near the monster, his neck split, beheading him.

"Don't... make me... exhaust anymore..." The young lady said in a difficulty breathing.

Verxal, who was watching rushedly assisted her when she was about to kneel.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I am... Please... kill that monster, I don't have enough strength since I just fought with this demon. That variant is more dangerous."

"What? Demon? This means that it wasn't a human after all." He pointed to the corpse of the elder.

"Yes," The young lady said before fainting.

Verxal clicked his tongue before putting down in a caring way the young lady he assisted into the nearest side.

"Boys, let's get serious.." He announced.
