114 Invitation to a Concert

Arlan chose to change the construction site to Catanduanes because this province was near the island he planned to rebuild.

"I hope so..." Luke Montefalco smiled at him.

"Uncle Luke, this is the construction plan that I came up with." Arlan handed a blueprint of a fortress-like subdivision to Luke.

Luke glanced at the blueprint and was stunned when he saw the design. The entire subdivision was actually surrounded by tall reinforced walls and there were watch towers in every corner. There were four metal gates in the subdivision and they were designed to withstand heavy damage.

Luke found it a bit excessive when he saw the blueprint. The subdivision was like an impregnable fortress of the olden times! "Arlan, is this really what you want to build?"

Arlan nodded his head. "That's right. I want to ensure that the people living inside would be safe."

"This isn't illegal, but building walls like the ones in this design would place us under the scrutiny of the government. They might think that we would be hiding some things behind the walls." Luke muttered while observing the construction blueprint.

"You don't have to worry about that, Uncle Luke. We won't be doing anything illegal so I don't think the government will make things difficult for us." With the De Guzman Family backing him, he wasn't worried about the government.

"Fine. I won't say anything anymore." Luke shook his head helplessly.

They discussed the construction blueprint for another thirty minutes before Arlan bid them farewell.

"I have to go back now, Uncle Luke. I still have some things to settle at home."

"Let me send you off." Luke and Terrence escorted him out of the building, but when they arrived at the front desk, Arlan suddenly stopped. "Wait. I want to speak with a friend."

Terrence and Luke smiled at him understandingly. They knew that there was a family living in Arlan's unit at City Land Hotel. After their investigation, they found out that the family was actually from one of their employees.

Arlan walked towards the front desk while staring at Sofia. "Hello, Sofia! How have you been?"

Sofia snorted at his words. "I thought that you have already forgotten about me." Arlan hasn't visited her for a long time. Although they still maintained contact online, she felt that Arlan was being distant from her.

Arlan smiled apologetically. He didn't have the time to visit her at all because of his busy schedule. Even his time with his parents decreased. "I'm really sorry. How about I bring you out somewhere today?"

Sofia's gaze softened when she saw Arlan's expression. After learning that he was a big boss, she knew that his free time was limited. She was only complaining because she missed him. "Really?"

Arlan nodded his head. "Yes. I don't have anything planned for the rest of the day."

"Great! Then can you go with me to the Maharlika Arena? My favorite actress is having a concert tonight. I already bought the tickets." Sofia grabbed two tickets from her pocket and showed them to him.

"Why do you have two tickets?" Arlan asked her in confusion.

Sofia looked away from him as she replied in a soft voice. "I- I bought two because I planned to go with a friend, but she couldn't come with me."

"Is that so? Okay, I'll go with you." Arlan hasn't been to a concert before and it might be nice to experience it since he might not have the chance in the future because of the zombie virus.

"You've said it! You can't take it back anymore. Here, you can have it. The concert will start at 6 p.m., I will wait for you here at 5 p.m." Sofia handed one of the tickets to him.

"Alright. I'll come and pick you up later." Arlan said before he left.

"Thank you for waiting for me." Arlan smiled in embarrassment while looking at Terrence and Luke.

The father and son duo were giving him strange looks.

Terrence grabbed his shoulder and whispered teasingly. "Buddy, it seems like you are hiding some things from me. Tell me. What is your relationship with our front desk clerk?"

Arlan pushed him off and chuckled. "She is a friend of mine. I plan to hire her as the head maid in my mansion."

Terrence gave him a knowing look. "No wonder she sent me a resignation letter. It was actually because of you."

Arlan shook his head and waved his hands at them. "I'll be on my way now. Just call me if you need anything."

Arlan entered his car and drove off.

Looking at the car, Luke narrowed his eyes. 'Why do I think that Arlan is hiding something big from us?' He thought to himself.

Arlan went back to his new mansion in Forbes Park to prepare for the concert, but the first thing he did was eat lunch. He haven't eaten anything yet and he was very hungry at the moment.

After eating his lunch, he went to the master's bedroom and stared at himself in the mirror. "I should get a new haircut." He muttered. He then told Jonas to call a hairstylist.

Jonas was a former manager in a big company so he knew all sorts of people. He called one of his friends and told him to come to the mansion.

An hour later, a short guy in his early thirties arrived. He was barely five feet tall and was dressed rather fashionably.

When he was cutting Arlan's hair, he had to stand on a small stool since he had some trouble reaching up to his hair.

Although the guy looked rather comical, he was a very good barber. He gave Arlan a taper fade cut.

"Not bad. I like it." Arlan muttered while looking at his new haircut. He then gave the hairstylist a big tip.

After that, Arlan took a hot shower. He then chose French-style clothing which he learned from Peter Bacari, the President of Louis Vuitton.
