I Shall Devour Everything

Chapter 8: Not A Simple Kid

Arion's home was located in the Fok Grove Ward, which was one of the fifty wards in the Rimefall Village. This ward was located north of the village with only 11 sq. km area.

The Rimefall Village as a whole had a land area of almost 700 sq. km, and the Fok Grove Ward just occupied a small part of it.

There were only green pastures near Arion's home, with few other houses located some distance away.

Seeing the simple yet aesthetically pleasing house surrounded by a garden, Arion couldn't help but admire how beautiful the whole place was.

Even though he already knew how his house looked from his memories, personally experiencing it was a different thing.

He could smell the pleasant fragrance of the various plants and flowers while a cool breeze carried over from the faraway seas caressed him like a lover's touch.

He felt as if he was entering an ayurvedic resort from the ones in his previous life.

From the outside, his house looked nice and traditional. It had been built with red pine wood and had tan stone decorations. Tall, squared windows added to the overall style of the house and had been added to the house in a fairly asymmetrical pattern.

The house was not too big but had three bedrooms in total.

The building was shaped like a T. The two extensions extended into the stylish and elegant garden surrounding the house. The house itself was surrounded by paved ground, running through the garden.

Arion took a quick look as he entered the house.

The second floor was the same size as the first, but part of it hung over the edge of the floor below, creating an overhang on one side and a balcony on the other. This floor had a different style than the floor below.

The roof was low and square-shaped and was covered with brown roof tiles. Large skylight windows let in plenty of light to the rooms below the roof.

"Arion, you can wait for your bath while I treat this kid," Mei said as soon as she entered the house.

"Nah, it's fine. I want to watch you treat him," Arion was interested to see Mei using her medical skills and learn from her. From his memories, he learned that he always used to watch Mei treat people whenever he could.

So, this time, he also wanted to watch her and learn anything he could.

Mei smiled, knowing well that Arion liked observing her treat patients. She took the boy in her arms towards the patient room where she usually treats people and laid the boy on top of a clean mattress.

Arion sat nearby as Mei crouched down and took a yellow feather from her pouch. This feather was not just an ordinary feather but was known as the Oracle Quill, and Arion knew that she always uses this to treat her patients.

Mei placed her hands on the chest of the boy as she closed her eyes. After a few moments, she moved the feather over to the boy's leg, where there was a long bloodied injury.

A faint yet magical white light started to shine from the tip of the quill as she traced it over the boy's injury.

Arion was mesmerized by the beautiful white light and the more he focused on it, the more it seemed ethereal.

However, his eyes widened when he saw that the inflamed tissues of the boy were regrowing and remodeling themselves to join themselves together. And finally, all the blood disappeared, and only a healed skin remained without any signs of the previous injury.

"Wow, Sister Mei, you are amazing!" Arion couldn't help but compliment and thought, 'This is even better than modern medicine. I wish I could do this...sigh...'

Arion felt sad that he wouldn't be able to do such miraculous things, especially when he was not a Defier.

But not all Defiers could necessarily do what Mei could. She had the Light Aspect, which was one of the very rare Aspects among Defiers.

Aspects, or Pranic Aspects to be exact, were the many different aspects or natures that existed within the mysterious and powerful energy known as Prana.

A Defier could manipulate these aspects as long as they possessed the respective Pranic Aspect.

Some can have the Fire Aspect, Water Aspect, Wind Aspect, Earth Aspect, and so on. There have been Defiers with all kinds of Aspects, including the very rare ones that appeared in Ingerna Isle's history.

Such rare ones were very few in numbers even among Defiers, and Mei was one such character, thus contributing to her fame as well.

A Defier with the Light Aspect was seen as a holy blessing by the people, and thus some even revered them thinking that the gods blessed these Defiers.

Hearing Arion's compliment, Mei smiled and said, "Actually, it healed faster because he is a Defier with some healing abilities. Otherwise, it would have taken more time."

Arion was surprised to hear that the boy had some healing abilities as well, "No wonder he was able to survive...I guess he is not simple…"

Seeing the young boy who looked no more than his age, Arion felt bad that they were so different. He had a disability, while the boy seemed to have his special qualities atop being a Defier.

After half an hour, Mei healed all the superficial injuries, and seeing the boy's face after the blood disappeared, Arion was surprised to see a boy whose looks were too handsome to the point he felt that he had never seen someone as handsome as the boy.

He wondered if men and women in this world were inherently superior in terms of appearance compared to the humans in his previous life.

'If I had my previous life's face...maybe...I won't lose out to him…' Arion bitterly thought. He lamented the fact that not only was he crippled, but even his face seemed unattractive compared to his previous life.

The only features that seemed similar were his black hair and eyes, but it was a common trait after all. The only reason even his hair had a neat boy-cut look was Mei would cut his hair for him.

He didn't look ugly, but he was not handsome either. If someone saw him, they wouldn't bother to give a second look and would even forget his face the next second.

For someone who had a handsome face before, it was quite a blow to him. Still, he already accepted reality since there was nothing he could do.

The boy also had a cool charm to his face, and Arion could imagine girls swooning with just a wink from him.

"How is it that his face did not suffer any injuries other than some bruises? It seems like he valued his face more than his life," Arion said with puckered lips.

Mei chuckled, hearing his comment, and said as she stored back her quill, "I have healed most of his injuries, but for the serious ones inside his body, I would have to let his body do the rest of the healing. Apparently, he has the capability, so there is nothing to worry about," Mei said as she wiped a drop of sweat that trickled down her forehead.

Seeing her looking tired, Arion felt heaviness in his heart and said, "Sister Mei, you can go rest. I will look after him and call you if there is any problem."

Mei nodded, and with a beautiful smile, she kissed Arion's forehead and said, "I am so lucky to have a caring boy like you. I will go take a bath and also bathe you later, okay?"

Thinking about how Mei was going to bathe him, Arion felt his face getting hotter, especially when he checked out his memories. But he controlled his emotions as he nodded.

After Mei left, Arion looked at the handsome boy before him as he mumbled, "Who are you kid…"
