I'm Actually Not Overpowered!

72 This Is What I Call A Beatdown! [Pt 2]

The Mid-Demon felt her body ache as she struggled to regain her balance.

The person who hit her was now dashing at her, ready to inflict another blow.

"Tch!" She clicked her tongue, realizing the mistake she made.

As a Mage, the Demon was not meant to lunge a frontal assault at her opponent. However, due to her flustered state, as well as the strange man putting away his weapon, she gave in to her instincts and struck.

As a result, he got the first hit.

'He human. Why he strong?!' The Mid-Demon asked herself, puzzled by the unanticipated turn of events.

It was the natural order that no human could be as strong as a Demon of her caliber. That was why she had been looking forward to the kind of 'powerful' foe she would decimate.

She had certainly not been expecting an equal!

>WHOOOOOSSSSHHHH<

The human approached her in a blur, too fast for her to quickly launch a counter-attack.

'Shit!' Even though she had never been outmaneuvered by a human, the Mid-Demon felt overpowered by her opponent's speed.

>BOOOOMMM!!!<

His fist hit her arms, just as she tried to block, causing her to fly back once more.

'Damnit! If like this, then...' Using the momentum, she heightened her Miasma control and pushed herself further away from the enemy.

It was the most optimal course of action, after all.

After creating enough distance between herself and the strange human—she assumed a strategic position behind her horde of Lower Class Demons.

"Go! Attack him!" She screamed, feeling sore from the blows she had received during the brief encounter she had had with her adversary.

Even though the Lower-Class Demons were most likely not going to last very long against the opponent, they could still prove to be useful by serving as a distraction to their opponent while she readied herself.

'They buy me time. Me use Magic. Me win!' The Mid-Demon thought to herself.

Unfortunately for her, though—

"....."

—Not a single Lower Class Demon heeded her words.

"W-wha—?!" Her eyes widened in shock.

Their bodies trembled as they resolutely refused to move from their position. The terrified looks in their eyes told her all she needed to know.

'N-no way...!'

The Lower Class Demons feared the human more than her.

"It seems these dregs have more sense than I gave them credit for." The human's voice suddenly emerged, sending another wave of unease through the Mid-Demon.

She gulped nervously, watching him approach slowly. Even though a horde of Demons separated her and the man, the Mid-Demon felt completely defenseless.

"Move. Now." That single command was enough to cause the group of Demons to part, giving the man access to her.

The Lower Class Demons at that point were nothing but trembling beasts who could do nothing against a higher power.

She was all alone at this point.

"Humiliating..." The Mid-Demon whispered.

Her body shook slightly as she felt anger well up within her.

"This is humiliating!!!"

As she roared, an explosive wave of Miasma exploded all around her, sending rocks flying everywhere.

The area around the Mid-Demon became charred, and the influence of her demonic energy caused the atmosphere to turn sour.

"You..." Her growl was more ferocious now, and her hateful glare was the prominent feature on her face, creating a sharp contrast to her beautiful appearance.

A wild animal ready to pounce... that was the only way to describe the Mid-Demon at this point.

'I use my Skills! I beat him!'

She had five core Skills. With those, there was no way she could lose to a mere human. Besides, unlike Magic, Skills hardly took any time to cast.

They had duration and cool-down periods, but irregardless, they were convenient for moments like this.

Stretching her hands at the man while watching him approach, she decided to use one of her favorites.

"[Evil Eye]!"

Her eyes turned a bright crimson, and a wave of demonic energy left her body and invaded the man.

'Hehehe! Now fall into madness and despair!'

>BZZZZTTZZZ!<

A buzzing aftershock suddenly assailed the Mid-Demon, causing her to yelp in pain as she clutched her eye in anguish.

"A-argh... h-how...?!"

The buzzing only occurred if her attack failed, and she saw no reason why it would. As the man approached her, a smile formed on his face, causing her to shudder fearfully.

'He resist it?!'

Realizing there was no time to think about the reason the attack failed to work, she decided to use another Skill.

"[Predator]!"

Once more, her Skill refused to activate, causing the Mid-Demon another bout of confusion.

Still, she could not afford to waste any time, so the only option was to try something else.

The option that came to mind was one that consumed a lot of Miasma and required an intense amount of concentration to use, but the Mid-Demon had run out of options at this point.

"[Marionette]!"

Strings appeared from nowhere and tried connecting to her opponent. She was certain that her Skill would work this time.

However—!!!

'Canceled again?!!!'

By the time the Demon had exhausted all attempts to use her five Skills, the human was already right in front of her.

Sweat dripped from her worried face as she felt a presence unlike any other.

Truly, she was cornered.

But...

"You fool!" A victorious smile spread on her face as a Magic Circle suddenly appeared underneath the human.

It glowed brightly, and an explosion was imminent.

She relished the fact that the human's arrogance would lead to his downfall as he fell into her trap.

Although, the Mid-Demon found it strange that the man didn't have a shocked expression, neither was he oozing with despair. She chalked it down to his stupidity.

>BOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!<

Like fireworks, the explosion doused the area in its magnificent glow, sending ripples of destruction flying around.

The Mid-Demon watched as her adversary was destroyed—no doubt—by her offensive prowess.

"Hehehe, you foo—"

Suddenly, right before she could complete her sentence, a hand emerged from the blazing flames and grabbed her throat.

"Heuukk!" A strained screech leaked out as her bulging eyes witnessed the impossible.

'N-no!'

It couldn't be real... the sight before her was not possible.

"Haa... is this all you can do?" The voice first appeared, then the owner emerged from the inferno.

He was a completely different being from earlier—an existence that transcended humanity.

'... This isn't... human!'
