Something shattered behind Lancer’s door.

I couldn't stand it anymore and frowned subconsciously.

‘Oh my god, he's at it again! We need Lady Skyla to calm you down!’

Rachel’s sense of urgency bounced off the walls.

At the same time, she turned to me as if she was scared I’d run off from fear.

I didn't step back once, this isn't something that doesn't happen often for me.

Why does Lancer live in the most secluded room in the mansion? It's because of the outbursts of magic power.

As I’ve said before, magic power is influenced by emotions.

So for someone like Lancer, who was born with more power than an average person can handle, his mood affects his emotions, which could manifest as outbursts of magic power.

“What do you want, Rachel.”

A grim voice shrilled from beyond the door.

It’s incredible how a happy-go-lucky person like Lancer could sound like this.

“Young master… why do you sound so down? Please open the door.”

“Don't wanna.”

“Don't do this, young master.”

Rachel cautiously approached the door.

Her mouth was dry and she nervously held the back of my hand.

“Look who’s here, it's none other than your favourite, S-”

Pow!

Rachel squeaked in surprise, a harsh thud could be heard from behind the door.

Looking closer, a part of the door was dented as if it got hit by something.

“Don't get any closer.”

“Young master…”

Rachel’s face paled.

‘Oh no! One wrong move and I’ll die from his outburst! I can't die like this, I was gonna get married to Austin as soon as our wedding gets fully funded!’

Wait, isn't Austin my butler? Since when did those two get engaged?

I looked at Rachel in disbelief, I can't believe I found out about someone’s love life when I'm not supposed to.

Rachel, who didn't know I could hear her panicking, glanced at me in fright to signal, ‘Please help!’

I gently beckoned her to step back with a sigh.

She was quick to lower her head and move.

I strode to Lancer’s door.

The sound of footsteps stirred Lancer’s emotions again, a shatter from inside could be heard.

Rachel clenched her teeth and covered her hands around her head as she sank into her seat.

‘No! I'm supposed to go on a honeymoon with Austin next spring! And it's where he promised me a hot first night! I can't die here!’

I ignored her inner thoughts and approached the door.

Lancer shouted over the door.

“I said don't get any closer!”

“Don't be a jerk, open the door now if you don't want to get hit.”

“...Skyla?”

Although I couldn't see him, I could visualise his mouth opening like an ‘O’.

Yeah, you're probably surprised I showed up out of nowhere.

“Skyla... is that you?”

“Who else would want to be near you now if not me? Open the door.”

Bang!

The door crumbled, broken.

Lancer’s crying figure could be seen behind it.

“Skyla!”

He ran out of the room towards me and without a warning, he wrapped his arms around me.

“Is that really you, Skyla? Am I hallucinating since I wanted to see Skyla so much… or did I accidentally summon Skyla in a magic burst without knowing?”

“I'm not a hallucination and I didn't get summoned.”

In the arms of a rambling Lancer, I calmly answered.

The room behind Lancer was in ruins as if dozens of thieves had invaded.

The furniture had been destroyed into pieces and roamed around on the floor, and the glass fragments of the broken window were messily scattered.

Whenever Lancer experienced extreme emotions, his magic outbursts always turned out this way since he couldn't control his magic rationally.

Of course, it doesn't happen frequently.

However, since Lancer was also human, it was inevitable.

Each time, I was the only one who could bring his emotions back to square one.

He would look at me and feel at peace for some reason.

He pulled away to stare down at me.

The look of his eyes was a mix of confusion and wariness.

“Are you really Skyla and not an imaginary critter I made?”

“Don't say such stupid things.”

“I can't. I can't believe that you're really Skyla, prove it to me.”

“You'll believe it if you just see me.”

“Will you marry me on the condition that you go out with me?”

“Get lost.”

“Ah, 320 losses… you must be the real Skyla to say something so prickly.”

“That's a weird way to distinct someone.”

I grumbled, prodding his shoulder.

Then I saw a relieved-looking Rachel in my sight.

I sighed inwardly and glanced at her.

She scurried off from her seat dreaming of a passionate honeymoon with Austin.

Sigh…

I stared at the spot where Rachel had disappeared and sighed inwardly again for a moment.

Lancer. Lancer Soli. What should I do with your overflowing power?

I examined the room Lancer destroyed.

Hold on.

If he gets married… would the bed break on the first night?

It's because of Rachel that such ideas are going through my head.

Lancer’s emotions control his magic outbursts.

So what would happen on a big life event for him-like his wedding day- for example?

He would be so happy that a piece of territory blows up.

I don't know who the hell would want him as a husband but condolences in advance.

“Hey, Skyla.”

“Huh? Oh, yes?”

Lancer’s voice brought me back to reality.

I lifted my head and saw his face up close, looking down at me with his hands on my shoulders.

“Why did you come here?”

“What do you mean? I came to see you.”

“R-really? I thought you hated me…”

I was dumbfounded.

“What are you talking about? Why would I hate you?”

“Were you not angry because I sneaked into your carriage to surprise you..?”

Oh. So that's why he turned into a butterfly and stayed there.

“I was a little upset, but not angry.”

“You're upset but not angry?”

“Yeah. As a result, the perverted mage got kicked out. Now that I think about it, I should thank you.”

Lancer’s face, which looked as grim as someone about to be executed, quickly brightened.

“Really? Did I do a good job?”

“Yes, well done.”

“I'm glad I could be useful to you, Skyla!”

As he said that, his smile was as radiant as the sun. He looked happy like a child eating his favorite cookies.

What's so good about it?

“Is it that good to you?”

“Of course! I want to make Skyla happy! So I had been scared because I thought I made you angry instead…”

What do you mean you were scared?

I couldn't understand Lancer at all.

Why would it be scary if I was angry?

I let out a deep sigh.

“Sorry to suddenly change the subject, but where are you going to sleep? It’ll be night soon.”

Please don't say that you'll sleep in that mess.

I glanced at him and gestured towards his wrecked room.

“Oh, right…”

Lancer scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.

“Hmm… I guess I’ll have to stay in the guest room tonight.”

“I see. Call a maid and ask her to prepare a room for you. I heard the Duke and Duchess aren't in the mansion currently, so don't cause any more trouble and go to sleep.”

“Then can you sleep with me tonight?”

He asked after my nagging.

“...”

What?

“...Do you know what I’d say to that?”

“Of course, you'll say yes.”

“That's how you'd wish it to be. Realistically, what do you think ill say?”

“Ah, so you won't?”

“Why are you asking such an obvious question?”

In response, Lancer stared down at me curiously, his innocent eyes untainted by filth.

“But… we used to have sleepovers often.”

Sleepovers? Do you want to have a sleepover?

As he said, we slept in each other’s houses several times as children.

But it was mainly because of our parents chatting until late into the night.

They would drink wine and talk about politics and economics, whilst Lancer and I would sleep together after a long day of playing.

And we would wake up the next morning and leave after breakfast.

“How old are you, Lancer?”

“I'm the same age as Skyla. Did you forget?”

“I didn't ask because I didn't know. I was being sarcastic, read the room.”

“Oh, I see. You're so well-spoken, Skyla! That's cool!”

My jaw dropped seeing Lancer clapping his hands and bursting into laughter.

There's no way that compliment is going to make me feel good.

When will Lancer have common sense…

I suppressed my frustration and spoke again.

“Think it over, Lancer. You're an adult like me, right? So don't you know what it means for a man and a woman in their prime to sleep together?”
