Monster Hunting High School

Chapter 4 Silence Theory

Philosophy of Magic is a general course. Of course, because some colleges do not have mandatory requirements for this knowledge, this course is classified as a school-wide elective course.

Even so, since there are only a handful of professors in the entire university who are capable of teaching this course, Magical Philosophy has always been arranged by the Academic Affairs Office as a large class, and students from different colleges are mixed together for teaching.

After all, only those old professors with deep qualifications and extensive knowledge can explain this obscure course that explores the origin of magic to young wizards with ease.

For example, the dean of Jiuyou College, Yao Xiaomi.

Maybe it was because of his daunting title, or maybe his lectures were really good.

Lao Yao's philosophy class was always overcrowded.

In addition to students from Jiuyou College, Alpha College, Starry Sky College, and even some sophomores and juniors who retake the course after failing the course will give priority to Lao Yao's course.

But because the number of people is limited, not everyone has the chance to grab this spot.

As far as Zheng Qing knows, nearly half of the people in Astronomy Class 08-1 can only choose philosophy courses from other professors. Among them is Elena.

This is why young public-funded students are not afraid of the awkward atmosphere before class and dare to stay in the classroom in advance.

The philosophy class is located in room 302 west of the main building.

Same as usual.

There is still more than half an hour before class starts, and the spacious classroom is already full.

No one was making any noise.

Zheng Qing discovered a very interesting phenomenon.

Whenever students from different colleges attend classes in the same classroom, there will always be some kind of silent comparison: maybe the number of questions answered, maybe the completion of homework after class, or just the discipline in class or before class.

The winners will naturally gain a certain psychological advantage and can look at students from other colleges with a self-perceived superiority.

The loser will lick his wounds silently in order to win the next time he competes.

Such as now.

There was silence in the classroom of 302. Everyone was quietly reviewing the lecture notes copied from the previous class in their seats, trying to use this serious attitude of study to declare something to the students of other colleges.

The translucent curtains were wide open, locking the dazzling sunlight out of the window; the elves hung on the light balls under the ceiling, carefully charging them to keep the entire classroom at an appropriate brightness.

On the front wall, on the large blackboard, I don’t know who left a piece of large characters with flying phoenixes:

"...When you enter the university and walk deeper into the wizard's hall. You need to find a light."

"...This light can help you walk further into the darkness, help you find the direction when you are confused, and strengthen your faith when you are confused."

"Of course, it can also help you get out of the bookshelf corridor of Shushan Hall."

"...This lamp is the philosophy of magic."

"...Although it is boring and has no dazzling magical effects, it will become the most solid foundation for your magical journey."

Zheng Qing chewed on this fragmentary proverb and opened his textbook.

"This passage looks familiar," he muttered, bumping Xiao Xiao next to him with his elbow: "Who wrote it?"

"Karl Strauss." Xiao Xiao was indeed worthy of the title of Great Doctor, and he opened his mouth and gave a name.

Zheng Qing lowered his head and looked at the author's name of "The Philosophy of Magic" at his hand. His tone was a little weak: "I'm not asking about the source of this passage... I just want to ask who wrote that passage on the blackboard..."

"Of course it's chalk!" Xiao Xiao looked at him in surprise: "Apart from chalk, who else can write on the blackboard?"

Zheng Qing finally retreated and no longer struggled with this issue.

Lao Yao is used to walking to the podium a few minutes early.

Because he always talks a lot of nonsense before class.

For example, 'Today's weather is good, the wind is sunny and sunny'; or 'You are the worst student in my class'.

But today on the podium, he did not talk about the weather or the students.

Instead, he complained about other teachers.

"Professor Sima is a very responsible teacher, there is no doubt about it."

"But he also causes trouble for me."

He shook the black pipe, letting the green smoke linger, covering his face, and complained endlessly:

"Starting from last week, well, I forgot which history class it was after...anyway, it was the process of explaining history to you that involved some profound knowledge of magical philosophy."

"This is just great."

"... You little bastards get in front of me whenever you can and ask what "On Silence" is all about."

"I was confused at first... This is a practical theory class that you can only take in your senior year. How come both of them are so advanced in preview!"

A burst of cheerful laughter erupted in the class, and Zheng Qing couldn't help but smile, looking at the smiling faces around him.

There was a satisfying air of elation in the air.

Of course, there were also many students from other colleges who looked confused, obviously not understanding what the professor on the stage was saying.

Lao Yao quickly discovered these signs:

"Some students may not know." He knocked on the desk with his pipe and added: "When Professor Sima was in the history class, he interpreted part of the real history, involving the theory of silence... I remember part of that class Are there students from Jiuyou Academy and some students from Alpha Academy?”

"Yes!" There were mixed responses in the huge classroom.

"Has anyone gone to the library to find information on this?"

After Zheng Qing raised his hand, he was surprised to find that only a dozen people in the class raised their hands.

"Does anyone understand?"

The raised hands all fell back.

Old Yao nodded with satisfaction:

"now it's right."

"The Theory of Silence is one of the highest achievements in the development of modern magical philosophy and forms the basis of today's wizards' code of conduct. This theory is the conclusion of the joint efforts of many great wizards. In the derivation process, very complex magical techniques were used and a lot of difficult theory.”

"I will take some time today to briefly talk about "The Theory of Silence" to you. I don't expect you to understand it, but you can understand the general meaning."

Lao Yao put the Dharma book on the lectern, rolled up his sleeves, and started pacing back and forth on the lectern.

"First of all, let's define it...I need to give you a definition."

“What is Quietism?”

"The main argument of the silent theory can be summed up in one sentence: within a certain space-time range, the intensity of active individuals is inversely proportional to the lifespan of this space-time."

Lao Yao said this sentence very slowly, almost word for word.

After finishing speaking, everyone in the hall looked at a loss. 32
