My Journey to Godhood as a Caterpillar

Yun Jhin walked slowly towards his body's former house, he avoided Gamp Ping's pavilion to not get himself in needless trouble, after all, he would leave Chu Mang's body for a while as he would devour the food pill and spirit stones, as for the corpse refining pill it would have another use that would hasten the creation of the corpse king.

Yun Jhin entered the home that he couldn't even call home and made Chu Mang's body put the spirit stones and the food pill on the ground, then he started to quickly devour them as he left Chu Mang's body through his nose, Chu Mang stood there with his eyes wide open like the living dead, his soul devoured, only his body was 'alive' but technically speaking Chu Mang was lost forever.

As Yun Jhin finished eating the spirit stones and the food pill he fattened up quite a bit, he entered back into Chu Mang's cranium where he stabbed his stinger again, as he looked down at his chest area as the body's head fell he could see a silver pendant hanging at his neck, Yun Jhin took the pendant off from his neck and inspected it for a little bit before opening it.

It was the wife and daughter of Chu Mang, they were all happily hugging each other into the photo, Yun Jhin chuckled coldly as he looked at the image then he crushed the pendant into a ball of silver that he incinerated as he said to himself:

"Family? Useless, love? Useless, anything else besides power and eternal life was useless and temporary, as long as I can gain eternal life I could have as many families and love as I want, eternal life, eternal life, how much have you eluded me, killing me more than a few times, age age age."

As he said the word, age three times he looked at his hands as he shook his head and continued his thoughts:

"Useless attachments slow down your cultivation and cloud your judgment, I like foolish people with such attachments, they are easy to control and break, get at their family and they break down, they become angry, they become sloppy, and then they die."

Yun Jhin chuckled to himself as he reminisced the many times he did such things against his enemies then he shook his head as he stopped thinking and looked at a new system notification that hasn't appeared in front of him since he achieved rank 4:

[Spirit stones are highly infused with energy and you can skip directly to rank 7, the combination of the food pill with the two-spirit stones made host's body overflow with energy, I recommend the host to sleep as the system would help the host with the immediate evolution skip from rank 4 to 7, the excess energy will be turned into cultivation energy.]

After reading the notification Yun Jhin nodded to himself as he left the house and returned directly to the cave below the corpse mountain, Chen Ming immediately left at the quickest speed, he couldn't wait to get his hands on a fairy's corpse from what it seemed, Yun Jhin shook his head as he looked at the back of the man:

"Another fool, people like him die first, he still has attachments no matter how vile they are."

Yun Jhin wasn't emotionless but the control he had on his emotions exceeded anyone he knew, even people at the same cultivation realm in his former life were jealous of his emotional control, it all led from the combination of his previous lives, all the emotions and experienced combined together, all of the cultivation techniques all of the power from before made him realize how emotional control was sometimes better than one of the highest-ranked cultivation techniques.

Yun Jhin breathed in and out as he went into a trance, Chu Mang's body looked like it was cultivating while inside the cranium Yun Jhin was evolving, directly skipping to rank 7, his body elongated and shortened as his evolution went by, his energy increased as well as his stinger that became sharper and sharper, his soul was slowly recovering its power from his previous lives but it wasn't anything special, as long as he continued growing his soul would mend by itself.

After a long while of waiting Chu Mang's body opened its eyes as it reached stage 5 of the earthly realm, as soon as he opened his eyes the crooked nose and the smell of decay hit him, in front of him stood Chen Ming who looked at Yun Jhin as he said:

"Broke through did you fledgling, you might reach my power after a few more years, aren't you talented, I might have to call you junior brother in the future, whatever I fed the corpse in your stead, but something strange is going on, he started to eat more and more these days, according to the sect master it would be a long while before the corpse would start acting this way."

Yun Jhin got up from his cross-legged position and said:

"It might be due to the increased energy inside the cave, you should have felt that the Yin energy has increased in number for some reason."

Chen Ming nodded his head as his white hair moved up and down, he then looked at the hidden door and said:

"Ok you can feed him from now on, call for me if anything special would happen, the sect master left me to take care of the corpse, I have to immediately call on him if something happens, do you understand?"

Yun Jhin nodded his head and made sure to put on a respectful expression on his face as he said:

"Of course elder Chen Ming, you have taken good care of me and I will surely inform you of anything peculiar that would happen, after all, as you said the corpse has the battle power of a heavenly realm master, I would be the first one who ran away if it suddenly woke up."

Chen Ming chuckled as he looked Yun Jhin up and down and said:

"You are a good man Chu Mang if you keep it up the sect might even let you go back to see your family."

A yearning expression overtook Chu Mangs's face as Yun Jhin made sure to put on a good act as he said with a trembling voice:

"Really? elder Chen Ming, you would talk with the sect master to let me see my family?"

Chen Ming chuckled ominously as he said:

"Of course just keep looking after the corpse king, when he wakes up you will be able to go see your family."

Yun Jhin chuckled inside, giving out such a tempting reward, if the real Chen Ming was still in control he might even kowtow as he didn't know 500 years would have to pass by before the corpse king would awaken, 2,3 more people would be changed before the corpse king would awaken, generally earthly realm practitioners could live for at most 300 years, if the heavenly realm patriarch of the sect was quite old he might die before the corpse king awakened!

Chu Mang would die waiting even though his family would have already been long dead, normal humans can at most live 100 years, and those were the humans who were extremely taken care of, commoners like Chu Mang's family would die at 50 or at max 70 years old, let's not even talk what would have happened to his daughter and wife already, after all, there was no man to save them from the greedy hands of practically anyone, they might already be cultivation cauldrons or corpse puppets some sick freak would enjoy, of course, there was the chance they were still alive but it was slim, Chu Mang already unlocked a bit of cultivation potential when he was with his family that's why he was kidnapped, in general, adult men wouldn't be kidnapped often because the best time for their cultivation would be already gone, however, Chu Mang was an exception because of his talent.

That's why most of the corpses on the top were young children around 6-8 years old, but not all of them were talented, some might show talents while others talent needed to be investigated, only some of the more talented people would show their talent outside their body.

As Chen Ming left, Yun Jhin stopped acting and he took the corpse pill from the green sack and walked towards the end of the cave where he found some Yin grass, he took the Yin grass and wrapped the pill with it, then he took a sharp rock and he started to mash the Yin grass together with the corpse refining pill, afterwards he used his fire conjuring to transform the mashed pill and yin grass together into a though paste, he let his ear next to the ground as his main body dripped some mind-controlling venom on the paste, the paste would hasten the creation of the corpse king while the mind-controlling venom would make sure that the corpse king would be numbed when he tried to take control of his sea of consciousness.

A corpse king needed a person with atleast the cultivation of heavenly realm to be taken control of, but with his soul strength as long as he reached the 8th or 9th stage of the earthly realm combined with his poison he would be able to easily take control of the corpse king, he would make sure he tired the ancestor of the sect and then when the time was right, abandon Chu Meng's body and take control of the patriarch of the Corpse refining sect!

Ever since he felt the patriarch's cultivation fluctuations this plan was concocted in Yun Jhin's mind, however, he didn't know how to weaken the patriarch, but the corpse king was the best way on how to do it!

With the help of his former knowledge he would make it so the corpse king was finished earlier when the poor fellow came to check up on it, he would make it act berserk and injure him, in the end, he would stop the corpse king and take over the patriarchs body!

Technically speaking it should be impossible for a mind-controlling caterpillar to take over a heavenly realm or above expert, but with the help of his cultivation base, his strong soul, knowledge, and the weakness of the other party, there was no way he could fail!

Yun Jhin looked down at the corpse as he opened the hidden hatch and threw the paste to him which he immediately gulped down like it was a heavenly elixir, now just to reach the peak of the earthly realm, Yun Jhin altered the formation again to slow the Yin energy accumulation, he needed quite a bit of time to reach the 9th stage, maybe in two more months as he will get two more allowances, he had enough time to wait, he would keep things slow and steady.
