My Plunderer System

37 Chapter 37 - Level 5

After seeing the message pop up, Milo couldn't contain his excitement. The only enemy he would have fought was the other player he had defeated in the Simulation's pvp mode. If he could gain exp by fighting students in the game he could level up and get stronger. Along with this there were other modes that he hadn't tried yet. After clearing the screen out of his vision he pulled off the VR mask and sat up where Chris and Mark were waiting. It was getting quite late and the three had decided to head back to their room to sleep. Milo had already decided what his plans for the next day would be, he would head to the Sim Room and grind until he finally hit level five.

Waking up the next morning Milo went to the combat hall for an hour as he had been doing to practice his use of the chain sickle, before heading off to the Sim Room. After getting a station, he logged into the game before doing some tests. He first entered the pve mode, after taking down some monsters he tried activating the system and luckily for him it appeared to work in the simulation. A screen popped up telling him that he had gained 40 exp points, meaning that every beast he defeated in this mode gave him ten experience. This was lower than he hoped, but perhaps when the waves of monsters got more difficult they would give him more. After quitting the mode there, he tried the gate simulation mode, there were multiple difficulties and Milo decided to try the easiest, just like in the pve mode, each beast gave him ten exp each.

After testing the different modes, Milo chose to use the pvp mode, as most of the fights he'd be facing in the near future would be against fellow students, rather than beasts from the gates. His first match was as easy as the previous day and he gained 20 experience for it.

After his first match the opponents he faced got progressively tougher, as if the simulation knew he needed harder opponents to face. Finally after five matches of easy opponents, the opponent he was facing showed him his first bit of difficulty. He had a telekinesis ability and used throwing knives, the knives he threw would bend and change direction as he used his ability to control them. It was an ability Milo thought would also come in handy for his chain sickle. In the simulation he was still using the sword he chose the day before and because of this he would have to deflect the knives and get in close to attack. After some running away, the knife thrower finally ran out of knives and Milo closed the distance between the two before finishing him off. After defeating him he and returning to the lobby he got a screen that popped up.

His Plunder ability was now off cooldown, he chose not to copy an ability as he wanted to see what Fusion did before plundering another one, and now he knew. The description of Fusion was as he expected, he could combine two abilities he copied and overwrite them with a single new more powerful ability. The cooldown was only three days, which made sense as he'd have to collect compatible abilities with the Plunder skill, before he could even use the Fusion skill. A new tutorial had also been generated about the fusion ability.

When watching the tutorial, Navi gave a few examples of compatible abilities, one that seemed cool was combining the hardening ability with the earth ability, it resulted in an ability called stone skin which allowed the user to turn their body into stone. She had also given a hint to an ability that could be combined with the frost ability and he would test that at some point eventually, but first he wanted to check out the shop feature.
