Chapter 17 - Where Am I?

Sky's China Branch Headquarter

Guan Mu Sheng's office, there was a pod next to the working table. Guan Mu Shen was currently inside the gaming pod, not playing the game, of course. He was watching the recording of the bullying case that got viral recently.

He was watching the last clip where Shen jumped off to the God Burial, "Hahaha… He really jumps to the cliff. I wonder if this is a fortune or misfortune," the middle-aged man laughed.

"ARGHHHHH!!!" Shen was freefalling into the God Burial. He was not expecting this to happen. He thought he would respawn in the city, not in the midair like this.

The strong gust of wind hit his face as he kept falling. He screamed non-stop, and soon he realized that he was not getting to the bottom soon enough.

Slowly, Shen opened his eyes, he was still free-falling but his vision was blocked by the thick fog. He could not see anything but fog. The thrill was there, but he slowly got his courage to not scream anymore.

Before he could proceed with the situation, the fog suddenly turned green. At the same time, he heard a notification in his head.

[You have been poisoned!]

[You died!]

Two quick notifications rang in his head. The poison must be lethal as it killed him instantly. Or it was because he was too low-leveled, that might be the factor since he was minus level.

"Nah, I don't care. It is much better than turning into a meat past–" Shen said as he spawned. He did not finish his words as he was surprised to find he was not supposed to be the spawn spot.

The original spawn spot was in the city, and he was not in the city. He was in a cottage made of wood. The exquisite unknown wood gave out a calming mood.

He looked around and realized that the but was in the middle of a small pond decorated with aquatic flowers. The atmosphere was serene and refreshing. This was one of the best spots to relieve stress. It was so calming and refreshing.

Despite the beautiful environment, Shen quickly snapped out of his thought, "Where am I?" That was a good question.

As he spat that question out, a notification came in.

Ding!

[Thank you for reporting the bug as soon as you find it out. We appreciate your honesty and contribution to the game. We are also thankful for not spreading bad rumors about us and directly reported the bug to us. We have given a reward for your contribution. Please check your inventory, good luck on your adventure, and we hope you enjoy the game.]

A screen with a long text popped out in front of his face. He now remembered that the Director of Sky's China Branch mentioned that he would reward him for reporting the bug in the press conference.

"Wow, they keep their promise," Shen was surprised to see the message. He thought it might be just sugar-coating words for their company image.

He immediately opened the inventory and found an additional weapon, it was a spear. If he had to ask which weapon he preferred, the sword would be his answer. Easy to bring around, did not hindrance his movement, and he was not a fan of the spear.

Shen tapped the spear to see the information of the weapon.

————————

Grade: Rare

Attack: 20-30 Damage

Requirement: Level 3

Durability: 140%

————————

Shen was not expecting to receive a Rare Grade Weapon for his reward, especially at this early stage of the game. The spear could become game-changing to catch the level.

"But why [Gifted Spear]? Can they give a cool name to the spear? I know it's a reward, but really?" He shook his head in disappointment, "On top of that, I can't use the spear. What's wrong with the level requirement?"

"Talking about the level, have they fixed the bug?" He opened his status, "Hah…" a sigh escaped his lips as he found out that he was level 1 now. The bug was fixed, his level was not minus anymore. It was quite sad for failing to exploit the bug to his advantage.

"Nah, at least, I got a quite nice spear though I can't use it yet," he was disappointed but it was worth it. It would be easier to grind his level up when he reached level 3.

"Now more importantly, where am I?" He walked toward the short wooden bridge that connected the hut to the land. There was a path made of flat stone. Green grass covered the land, it was quite giving off a clean country-side feeling to Shen. The environment remembered his hometown.

To his right, there were five wooden houses and five more wooden houses to his left. If he kept walking forward, the path would lead him to an exit. He saw a closed wooden gate and wall ahead. If he had to picture where he was, he was more likely in a village.

"Does Sky want to help by changing my spawn spot in this village?" Shen thought this was another reward from Sky for him to avoid Volt and his friends. Because he saw no one here, yes, the village was empty from the player.

"I don't know this is a good thing or a bad thing," he let out a sigh. There was a saying that a human could not live alone, 'I wonder if that's true or not… I guess it's true…'

Shen had experienced itself. If he was alone back then in the hospital, he might end his life. The thought of he could not run anymore was the drive that might push him into the abyss. However, there was a bright little angel who saved him from loneliness and depression. And also friends who opened a new path for him.

"I should invite Ming to Uncle Hou's stall later…" he muttered randomly as he walked to the house. The external wooden house looked different, but there was one thing that differentiated one house from another.

At the entrance, there was a plaque made of wood with a symbol engraved on it. The first house on the right had a tube with a skull symbol on it. It was a tube commonly used by scientists for experiments.

"Scientist?" He blurted out before he shook his head. He looked toward the house on the left. The house on the left had a dagger that pointed upward.

Shen did not quite understand the meaning behind the symbol. He could check inside, but he wanted to check the surroundings first. He walked forward and checked the second house on the right.

The plaque second house on the right had a hammer that tilted to the right around 45°.

"Hammer? Is this blacksmith house?" He quickly connected to the blacksmith upon seeing the symbol before he looked to the left. The second house on the left had a shield and sword as the symbol. The shield covered the sword, so he could only see the tip and the handle of the sword. The sword was pointing downward this time.

"Wait a minute, sword and shield for a Knight. The tube for Alchemist? Dagger for an assassin? And a hammer for a blacksmith?" He quickly found out that the symbol was related to a class, "What kind of village is this?" Shen muttered in a low voice.
