Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 133: Distraction

Stepping out of the Dimension Portal, Shane took a deep breath, as the fresh and mana-filled air entered his body.

He couldn't help but feel wonderful to find so much mana around him which he genuinely missed as Igra was still considered a dead planet from the perspective of other races'.

Nevertheless, Shane was glad to have left the Primordial Dimensions in order to enter the Shirai academy because it was extremely beneficial for him, due to the existence of the Dimension-spheres, the tranquil forest, and the refining capsules.

Every single one of these things was already reason enough for him to return to Igra, but with the help of Aisha and the Valkyries, he wanted to earn a huge fortune to maintain a luxurious cultivation life, which was extremely expensive, either way.

While stepping away from the portal behind him, Shane followed the Valkyries that attracted ample attention because they were considered the shelter's heroes.

Most citizens believed that if Aisha and the Valkyries hadn't appeared at the most crucial time, the whole shelter would have been annihilated by the bloodlust thunder wolf.

Maybe this would have been the case, but fortunately, nobody knew that it was extremely perilous for the Valkyries to fight against the bloodlust thunder wolf, which would have been even worse for other military units.

The Valkyries were cheered and praised by almost all citizens that witnessed the beast tide, and he noticed that most of them were guardians which were obvious because the RadiantRing shelter didn't have many citizens at that time.

However, what shocked the students walking behind the Valkyries the most, was Shane, who also received lots of praise from the guardians around him. The guardians remembered him leading the newest and most inexperienced long-range unit, allowing them to increase their combat prowess by a large extent.

There were not many guardians who remembered him as most of them belonged to the military's special-, reserve- and reinforcement units.

Nevertheless, what astonished Shane was that he met the two kind guards who had brought him into an Inn when he had returned from his first trip to the elemental crystal cave.

Unfortunately, the kind guards were on duty as they quietly spoke with each other while following Aisha and the Valkyries, or they would have most likely followed Shane as it was reassuring and comfortable to talk with him.

He seemed very sociable with the guards, the Valkyries, and even Aisha, which caused almost all students behind Shane to feel strange as they had expected him to be arrogant, a playboy and even worse based on the rumors spreading throughout the Shirai academy.

Leon, who was next to Shane the entire time, was also interested because of what he had heard from the guardians and a few workers who praised Shane for his bravery.

This caused him to question Shane about the reason for his fearless attitude. Shane simply answered that he had received some military training during his childhood and that his father had some connections in the military which allowed him to take over the lead of an inexperienced military unit from a useless leader.

Leon was astonished to hear this, but not excessively shocked because he had expected something similar when he had met the young black-haired man the first time.

'He is definitely not someone from an ordinary family!' He told himself, as a tinge of jealousy crept up his thoughts which he immediately suppressed.

Telling himself that everyone had their own background with a head-start and so on was only obvious but he couldn't deny that Shane was definitely hard-working which was not something to neglect.

Furthermore, he didn't seem to have [extraordinary] quality equipment at a high grade with special effects and abilities which would indicate that he was spoiled by his family.

As such, their start should have been roughly the same, as he was neither from a rich nor a poor family, thanks to his grandfather.

However, he didn't receive any support from his parents, and he had only inherited something from his grandfather which allowed him to reach his current strength, at the tender age of 18.

It was quite rare to have a mana purity of 80% while being 18 years old and he was extremely proud of his achievement.

Yet Shane, who was two years younger than him had already survived a double-beast tide while leading inexperienced units despite only being at the Mortal stage at that time.

Shane was definitely an anomaly and not a person one could find everywhere.

Leon was interested in Shane not only because of his mature aura but also because of his ability to achieve the number one spot in several rankings at once.

After the two kind guards had separated from their group, Shane was able to move around freely, and he noticed that not much had changed since his last visit.

The streets were relatively empty, save a few citizens and hunters walking around.

However, what changed, was the number of guards which was higher than before and the defensive measures which increased in number as well.

Thinking about it, Shane found that it was only obvious and it would be suspicious if it was the other way round after the government noticed the radiant mountain ring dimension's worth.

Inside this dimension, there were many valuable beasts in greater numbers than other dimensions while the mountain nearby had many caves with elemental crystals inside.

After they left the shelter that had been restored and ready to receive an increase in the number of inns and purchasable houses, Aisha turned around in order to grant Shane the lead position.

This was eyed weirdly, but Aisha just repeated her previous words, that she almost knew nothing about the hidden elemental crystal cave, except what Shane already stated.

However, instead of reassuring the slightly more than ten students, they felt that this was even weirder.

'Why should the Ice goddess trust Shane so much?' Was what almost everyone thought. Even Olivia, who was almost like a small child trusting everyone easily, found it weird, which was why she asked Aimy the same question.

Aimy, was also unaware of the reason and suspicious about it, which caused her to grab Olivia as they approached Shane, who was in the front with Leon next to him.

He held a bow in one hand while his other hand held the bowstring with one arrow nocked against the bowstring, and looked around attentively.

Walking through the forest with a large group would evidently attract attention because it was impossible for such a large group to walk around without being noticed and making noises was impossible to avoid. Aimy suddenly appeared next to him to ask him something.

Ignoring her, Shane continued to look out for beasts for several minutes as Aimy's voice grew louder. It was impossible not to hear Aimy, causing the Valkyries behind them to frown. Several Valkyries wanted to intervene and lecture Aimy, but Aisha held them back.

She wanted to observe Shane, whose senses were on high alert, as he led everyone carefully through the forest, avoiding dangerous and narrow areas which could lead to a perilous situation with the size of their group.

However, she was also aware that the distraction caused by the girl next to her should be almost unbearable in order to maintain his fully focused state.

It was almost 15 minutes later, that Shane shouted out

"Attention! Attack from the front!"

Leon and three other students had drawn out their weapons and shot towards their opponents with a terrifying speed.

It was a small pack of 30 wild stage and 3 elite Windwolves.

Nevertheless, the beasts shot high-velocity wind blades, towards the large group of over 100 humans, that was easily deflected by the Valkyries, while Aimy, Olivia, and the other students had difficulty in evading the sudden attacks.

Shane fired arrows at the wind blades which were aimed at him before he directed his attention to the small pack of wolves that were already dead.

Turning around to Aimy who looked at him with a confused expression, Shane's eyes turned ice-cold, as he said.

"Don't f*ck with me...If you don't care about your own life, that's fine. Just go back to the shelter and play around, but don't distract others outside the shelter instead of risking other peoples' lives, because I myself value being alive.

WHO the hell do you think you two are to endanger others with your behavior? Do you think this whole expedition is a game to cure your boredom or something like that?"
