Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 153: Shane's Greed

There were multiple things he tried to achieve at once with this small tactic of his.

First, his offer of 22 silver coins per elemental crystal would be highly profitable to the students and Valkyries, compared to their previous estimation of 10 to 15 silver coins on average.

As such, their opinion about him would change for the better, which was however not really important to Shane, who was done scheming.

Giving everyone benefits would make them more reluctant to demand the elemental and rainbow subterra centipede corpses because their profit from these carcasses had to be divided among all Valkyries and the three students who had fought against them.

As such, their profit from the whole fight would probably be between several hundred gold coins, while it was much higher with Shane's offer.

Choosing between a few hundred gold coins and several thousand gold coins was not really difficult and with this in mind, Shane was sure that nobody would demand the centipede carcasses.

As such, he would be able to earn several thousand gold coins from these carcasses alone.

Additionally, Shane would receive more profits by selling the elemental crystals to the Elus merchant which would also be a fortune, as he estimated to receive an average of 25 silver coins per elemental crystal.

In the end this was only an estimation and it could also end up in an average of 22 silver coins in the worst-case scenario.

Fortunately, he had already messaged the Elus merchant in order to figure out if he had enough gold coins to even purchase all basic crystals and if they even needed it in bulk.

This was his only fear in the beginning, but instead of rejecting Shane's proposal, the Elus merchant tried to make him his personal merchant for the Elus race, which Shane found funny.

In the end, there would be around 4 million elemental crystals he would sell to the Elus merchant in bulk, which was definitely not a small number but apparently not enough for the Elemental race(Elus) to complete their preparations to expand their civilization.

When he read that, Shane was astounded and pleased at the same time because it was obvious that the Elus race would owe him at least a small favor if he were to help them with their expansion, which was also something he wanted to achieve.

If Shane was sure to receive more than 22 silver coins on average he might as well offer the expedition team more, but without this assurance, he could only turn into a greedy man to prevent the possibility of a loss!

Conducting all of this in a short amount of time was not easy and he had to ensure that there was not an even better way to solve everything, as he looked at the systems holographic screen that floated in front of him.

The screen was split in two parts; one showed his messages with the Elus merchant and the other displayed the contract he set up for everyone in order to be safe as it was possible for problems to occur at any time.

'By signing this trade-agreement, I [....] give up all rights on the property[except mana crystals] I received inside the elemental crystal cave where we encountered the Golden centipede King with [List of all names-(...)]'

With this clause, Shane wanted to distract everyone from demanding elemental and rainbow subterra centipedes, as he aimed to receive everything they had mined inside the elemental crystal cave except the mana crystals. It was, of course, a clever ploy to let the others lower their guard..

In the end, he couldn't help but think that his greedy side was both shocking and extremely beneficial, as it would allow him to earn a massive number of gold coins.

When he was done, he noticed that everyone eyed him with greed, suspicion and also hope, which was weird to see.

However, after thinking about it Shane recalled having heard Aisha start to announce something when she was able to stand which was most likely his offer.

Now that everyone knew about his offer, there was not a single trace of anger directed towards him anymore which was ridiculous as he witnessed humanity's greed once again.

Sighing deeply, he said

"Everyone who wants to sign the contract can look at my profile and click on the link below. There you'll be led to the contract. Nobody has to worry that I will rob you because the system has already checked everything and there is nothing to be afraid of. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, otherwise, you might sign something you don't even understand which wouldn't be good, am I right?

Furthermore, for those who are suspicious as to why I am suddenly being so nice….I know how to separate business from personal matters!"

Smiling, he tried to sound casual but everyone knew that he was rather sugarcoating things as they had already witnessed his other side which caused them to immediately believe that he indeed knew how to separate business from personal matters.

It was weird for them, but even the most suspicious Valkyries and also Karl and Mike had to acknowledge that the contract was profitable for them.

They were unsure how much Shane would earn out of this, but their profits would double in some cases which was all that mattered to them in the long run.

Directing his attention to Aisha, he also asked

"What should we do about the five students' belongings? It would be useless to give their families elemental crystals, right? Should I also sell them with the same ratio and transfer the gold coins to you in order to send it to their families instead?"

Hearing Shane, everyone suddenly had the urge to praise him because this thought hadn't crossed their minds, and it would definitely be better to give their family money instead of crystals.

Nodding her head with a bright smile, Aisha handed him the five spatial rings, from which he transferred the elemental crystals inside his own spatial ring.

Once he was done, Shane returned the spatial rings back, when Aimy and Olivia arrived in front of him, handing him their spatial ring each for him to transfer the items they had earned inside the elemental crystal cave in his ring.

Yet, before he did that, Shane double-checked if everyone had signed the contract and after ensuring everything fell in place, it was time to enact the next step of his plan. For that, he had to use his acting skills and hope that he would be able to walk out of it unscathed.

The system automatically transferred the elemental crystals and centipede carcasses inside his spatial ring, without him doing anything. He gloated internally but put up a mask of confusion as a frown appeared on his face.

"Eh...Aimy...can you take a look at your spatial ring, please? Are the centipede carcasses still inside….?"

Aimy was astonished to hear Shane's uncertain voice, and followed his instructions, as her eyes widened.

"The carcasses are not there anymore!!" She exclaimed in shock.

Seeing this, Shane had to suppress a smile, as he said.

"Shit….did I do something wrong? They are now in my spatial ring…"

Maintaining the same look of confusion on his face, he immediately looked at the contract and his frown deepened, as he turned to Aisha, showing her the last clause with an apologetic expression.

She read through every clause carefully without letting out a single word.

<'By signing this trade-agreement, I [....] give up all rights on the property[except mana crystals] which I had received inside the elemental crystal cave where we encountered the Golden centipede King with [List of all names-(...)]'>

Once again, she noticed that something was wrong as she also heard Shane and Aimy's exclamation.

Frowning, she was astonished about what had happened and looked at Shane before trying to think of a way to prevent the young man from being ripped apart by the angry team members.

"Please don't be disturbed by what I'll say next, but because of a small fault in the contract, all centipede corpses will also be transferred to Shane because the system seems to label them as the elemental crystal cave's property….Even I wasn't aware of this so please don't be too harsh on Shane because I highly doubt that he did this intentionally.

Unfortunately, the system's punishment, if Shane were to simply return the carcasses would be harsh and even after selling them, Shane wouldn't be allowed to return the gold coins he received from selling the carcasses without receiving anything valuable in return."

Hearing what Aisha said, Shane's apologetic expression depended and even the students that were about to fuss over couldn't help but feel that it would be too harsh for them to complain or even curse at Shane who had provided them with an opportunity to double their profits.

"In the end, it was because of Shane that everyone received much more profits, so please bear with it or terminate the contract, however, that would be extremely expensive so choose wisely. Just think about it as a small gift to Shane for helping everyone increase their profits. This way, it would be much easier to cope with this small issue…"

Nodding their heads, the Valkyries silently acknowledged their captain as they couldn't say something against her even if they wanted to.

The students could only helplessly sigh and also nod their head in agreement.

There was no way that they would say anything against Aisha!
