310 Is That A Bird? Is That A Star? No, It's A Meteor Shower!

"Don't slack off, you peasants! If not for the king's decree, I wouldn't have to suffer by mingling with you lowlifes!"

The arrogant and overbearing words of a male human in a blue mage robe were heard by the soldiers of the Zeus Kingdom. But they turned a deaf ear to it and could only receive the complaints of the man in a blue mage robe.

After all, the badge on the man's blue mage robe signified his identity as an 8th Circle Mage!

The 8th Circle Mage token was rectangular, with edges that curved upwards. It was made out of gold and magic crystals. There were 8 circles carved on the token, which symbolized the blue robe mage's rank as an 8th Circle Mage.

Joshua Trevor was one of the 8th Circle Mages of the Zeus Kingdom! Because of that, he had the right and privilege to treat those soldiers as nobodies and lowlifes.

After all, Joshua's status as an 8th Circle Mage was worthy of respect due to the immense power an 8th Circle Mage holds. Due to that, Joshua boldly wore the 8th Circle Mage token on his blue mage robe, flaunting it and letting everyone who met him know his status as an 8th Circle Mage!

Joshua had the capital to be arrogant. And that was the reason why those soldiers, despite being ridiculed and insulted by Joshua, could only helplessly endure Joshua's words.

Otherwise, offending Joshua, an 8th Circle Mage, might even result in their execution! Even the king of the Zeus Kingdom had to maintain a respectful and polite attitude towards 8th Circle Mages such as Joshua.

So if Joshua was displeased with their attitude towards him, Joshua could even request the king to execute them and the king would comply.

That alone held how a king valued the existence of mages and knights at the 8th rank. Even the king in the Gaia Kingdom had to remain courteous towards the Ultimate Knight and Supreme Mage, let alone the king of the Zeus Kingdom.

So when those soldiers heard Joshua's words, they didn't ignore Joshua's words but acted as if they were unwilling and bullied but were forced to become subservient and could only comply with Joshua's demands. In other words, to appease Joshua, the soldiers didn't ignore him but put an act to entertain him.

Compared to their lives, their pride and dignity were worthless!

In short, they listened to Joshua's command and hastened their marching speed. Even if they were already exhausted, they could only force their body to move toward the Gaia Kingdom.

They knew that in the war against the Gaia Kingdom, they would be used as fodder by Joshua. Their lives were in Joshua's hands.

But after remembering their family back home that could benefit from the money that was paid in exchange for their lives, their fear of death was extinguished and they bravely marched towards the Gaia Kingdom. In other words, they marched to their death!

For them, they weren't optimistic that they could live. And even if they could escape, they won't since desertion was worthy of execution!

Beads of sweat trickled down the foreheads of the soldiers as they marched toward the Gaia Kingdom. On the other hand, Joshua was more leisurely as he showed off his flight magic.

But before they could continue their advancement, they noticed that the sky became brighter. Or more like, the sky was covered with countless specks of bright light!

"This is weird. Isn't it still daytime? Why are there stars in the sky?"

Confusion became evident on Joshua's face but when he saw those specks of bright light appearance, his face became pale in fear and horror!

'Not good! I might die if I face this head-on!'

Although that thought entered Joshua's mind, he immediately regained his confidence after remembering his status as an 8th Circle Mage.

'So what if there is a meteor shower? From the looks of it, this is caused by an enemy mage. And as an 8th Circle Mage, I am confident I can deal with any magic spells!'

Arrogance and pride clouded Joshua's mind as he started preparing his 8th Circle magic spell to deal with the meteor shower.

On the other hand, the soldiers of the Zeus Kingdom weren't aware of what those specks of bright light were since they couldn't use magic to enhance their eyesight.

"Is that a bird?"

"Is that a star?"

Several soldiers exclaimed in confusion as they observed the countless specks of bright light in the sky.

But those veteran soldiers who had already guessed what it was, couldn't help but shudder in fear as a cold chill ran down their spine!

"No, it's a meteor shower!"

When those words were spoken by a veteran soldier, the rest of the soldiers who heard it couldn't help but panic!

The soldiers exchanged glances as if they were communicating with each other through their gazes alone. The thought of desertion was sprouting in their minds.

And when they noticed that all of them had agreed to desert and leave the battlefield, they decided to disobey Joshua's command and look for an opportunity to leave the army.

For them, they were willing to sacrifice their lives in the war. But for a natural disaster like a meteor shower, they weren't idiots who would wait for their death!

Of course, Joshua was unaware of the thoughts of those soldiers. He was too busy in his preparation for his 8th Circle Magic spell. After all, not every 8th Circle Mage was like the Supreme Mage who could pull off an 8th Circle Magic spell in an instant, no longer restricted by casting duration.

If Joshua wasn't busy and had known about the thoughts and intentions of those Zeus Kingdom soldiers, he would have stopped his spell preparation and killed those soldiers in anger!

Afterward, he would flee!

Anyways, he could just pin the blame on the soldiers as well as the intervention in a natural disaster.

But due to his arrogance, Joshua didn't plan on retreating and instead, he prepared his magic spell, planning to clash with the meteor shower head-on!

"Tch! A mere meteor shower can't defeat me, an 8th Circle Mage!"
