Ch31.3 - Birthing The Baby

Translator: WhenEverIWantTo

In the hospital, the body of ‘Xu Ze’ was placed in the morgue. Yang Yan stood motionless beside the corpse.

Xie Chengzhou, who received the doctor’s call, rushed over. Xie Chengzhou was Yang Yan’s friend, not to mention the hospital was also his family’s property. The doctor saw that Yang Yan’s entire state was very unusual, worried that something strange would happen to Yang Yan. He spoke a few words, when Yang Yan’s red bloodshot eyes stared at him. The doctor felt a chill in his heart and didn’t dare to say more.

Xie Chengzhou was originally playing billiards with other friends in a billiards hall. When the call came over, he heard the person on the other side say that something had happened to Xu Ze. In that instant, Xie Chengzhou thought that the doctor was joking with him.

But after thinking about it, no one would be joking with him about this matter. He guessed that the doctor also didn’t have the guts. He asked him the reason for the incident and he learned that Xu Ze originally had a very successful birth operation. When he left the operation room, he was fine. Yet when he returned to the ward, he closed his eyes and went to sleep. After this sleep, he could never wake up again. Xie Chengzhou held his phone for a good half a day without speaking.

“Okay, I’ll go there right away.” Xie Chengzhou told the doctor.

After hanging up the phone, Xie Chengzhou looked at the faces of the other people in the room. Everyone here was talking and laughing, their lives were fresh and alive. Yet that other person, the one who once had touched his heartstrings, suddenly died like this. Xie Chengzhou couldn’t understand. He couldn’t understand how a living person could leave without warning, without the slightest warning at all.

Xie Chengzhou told his friends that he had a bit of matter to deal with and left first.

His friends were a little curious because they saw Xie Chengzhou’s face was terrifyingly gloomy. His lover Jiang Li was also there. When Xie Chengzhou was suddenly leaving, he naturally followed along.

Jiang Li followed Xie Chengzhou. His lips pursed, wanting to ask something. However, sensing the gloom from Xie Chengzhou, he pursed his lips tightly without uttering a word.

Sitting in the car, Xie Chengzhou pulled the seat belt. He turned his head to see Jiang Li also sitting inside. The more he looked at this face, the more and more similar it was to Xu Ze. Xie Chengzhou suddenly laughed.

He said to Jiang Li, “Xu Ze is dead!”

Jiang Li was stunned in an instant.

The car started. On the way to the hospital, light could hardly enter Xie Chengzhou’s deep dark eyes.

On the side, Jiang Li’s eyes trembled. He heard Xie Chengzhou’s words clearly, understanding each and every word. Xie Chengzhou said that Xu Ze was dead.

Xu Ze was dead!

That kind of person, how could he be dead? He should be doted on by this whole world.

Jiang Li’s voice trembled, unwilling to believe: “You’re joking with me, right? How could he, Xu Ze, how could he…” Jiang Li couldn’t say the two words “be dead”, for fear that once he said it, that things would really become that way.

He didn’t believe it. Not even the least.

Xie Chengzhou’s eyes were fixated on the window glass in front, not even glancing at Jiang Li with the corner of his eye.

“The phone call from the hospital wouldn’t not be fake.” Xie Chengzhou’s tone was calm, but only he knew how much surprise was in his heart.

That feeling of “unacceptable” was definitely not even less than Jiang Li’s.

He had never encountered this situation before. After that, Xie Chengzhou began to discover some characteristics of Jiang Li that he had not found before. Then he slowly found that Jiang Li was also very interesting. Continuing to keep him by his side like raising a small pet and occasionally teasing him wasn’t bad.

But Xie Chengzhou never expected that this would happen. Xu Ze left suddenly.

The car drove fast and came to the hospital in a blink of an eye. The doctor mentioned on the phone that Xu Ze’s body had already been transferred to the morgue.

The darkness was setting down on the sky. The sunset was as red as blood, dyeing half of the sky blood red. When Xie Chengzhou got out of the car at that moment, his heart felt very uncomfortable.

Xie Chengzhou called the doctor and said that he had arrived. The doctor hurried out to pick up Xie Chengzhou, and then took Xie Chengzhou and the Jiang Li behind him to the morgue.

The air-conditioning was running in the morgue, so as soon as one entered, the cold air struck. Jiang Li shivered from the cold. He followed closely behind Xie Chengzhou and walked to the basement. After a while, a tall figure with his back turned to them appeared in front of them.

The footsteps of several people were not light, but Yang Yan, who was standing, still did not turn his head.

Xie Chengzhou walked to Yang Yan’s side. There was a corpse lying on the table in front of him. His body was covered by cloth. When the cloth on the face was lifted, a peaceful and gentle sleeping face appeared.

Xie Chengzhou wanted to reach out to probe Xu Ze’s breath. Even if he saw the person lying there, he just hoped this was a prank. However, Xie Chengzhou’s hand failed to touch Xu Ze, because Yang Yan clasped his wrist in the next moment. .

Withdrawing his hand, Xie Chengzhou turned his wrist. Yang Yan’s grip was extremely strong, as if he wanted to grip Xie Chengzhou’s wrist bone.

Xie Chengzhou’s eyes turned from Xu Ze’s cold white face back to Yang Yan. What happened in front of his eyes had become an established fact. People couldn’t be resurrected from the dead. Compared with Yang Yan’s deep love for Xu Ze who had also sunk in completely, Xie Chengzhou was relatively rational.

With his palm on Yang Yan’s shoulder, Xie Chengzhou whispered, “Your child is still in the hospital. He needs you more.”

Yang Yan’s eyes that haven’t moved for a long time finally fluctuated a little. He looked at Xie Chengzhou. Xie Chengzhou was surprised by the intense sadness in Yang Yan’s eyes. That kind of grief was as if the other person’s entire world had been tiled over.

Xie Chengzhou’s breathing slightly stagnated in his throat.

“Why? If I had known this was the result, I wouldn’t want this child.”

Xie Chengzhou didn’t want Yang Yan to sink too deep: “You should know better than me. This world doesn’t have that much if I knew earlier.”

Yang Yan laughed out loud, yet the smile was endlessly sad and bitter.

“You should go out. Let me stay for another while.” Yang Yan asked Xie Chengzhou to leave.

Xie Chengzhou still wanted to say something, but he saw Yang Yan lowered his head and continued to stare at Xu Ze. The entire body was covered with a barrier, making others unable to approach. Xie Chengzhou shook his head slightly.

He turned around and gestured for Jiang Li to go out with him.

Jiang Li’s expression was stunned, dumbfounded and dazed.

Yang Yan had been standing since Xu Ze’s body was placed in the morgue. After Xie Chengzhou and the others came, he still stood still.

It was almost midnight when he finally moved. The entire person was also frozen bloodless by the cold air inside.

Xie Chengzhou and the others waited outside. Jiang Li fell asleep against the wall while waiting. Xie Chengzhou told him he could take a taxi and leave first, but Jiang Li refused to leave. The two waited until midnight to finally see Yang Yan come out.

After Yang Yan came out, he noticed that Xie Chengzhou and the others were still there. He walked up slowly. When he was about to get there, his feet stumbled under him. His body swayed and his forehead accidentally hit the wall. He directly broke his head and blood ran down Yang Yan’s cheek. A trail of bloodstain ran across his face.

But Yang Yan didn’t seem to feel the pain. He stood straight up and continued to walk forward.

Xie Chengzhou and Jiang Li looked at each other before following Yang Yan.

Yang Yan walked upstairs to the nursery room where the baby was. The baby still didn’t know that one of his fathers had already left.

Author has something to say: At 6 or 9 am I’ll fix. At 9 because the text was not revised, since the manuscript was deposited the day before.

There’s probably about a chapter or two left until tramsgirating to the next world.

Abusing gong feels so nice, hehehe.

Right, I finished baking the No. 4 corn cake yesterday, remember to check it out! It’s oily and delicious!

The author’s note was a lie. There’s 5 more chapters of this arc. If I include the splits, at least 15 more split chapters.

And I also think it’ll be a good time to make an announcement since the most climatic part of this arc happened.

I will be semi-dropping this novel after I’m done with arc 1. By semi-dropping, I mean I’ll still be translating this novel, but I’m focusing most of my attention on another novel I have my eyes on.

Because of the recent TL’s note, I have to clarify this. I’m not semi-dropping because of the bots. As if I’ll let some random people stop me. I’ve already made this decision ages ago, just waiting for this chapter to come out.

The reason for this is because of my personal interest. I don’t feel as much motivation to continue translating this novel as much as my desire to translate the other one I set my eyes on. It’s probably because I want fluff. Spoilers, but this novel won’t have any real fluffy moments any time soon. I crave fluffiness and sugar.

However, I will still translate this novel after arc 1. I’ll try to make it once per week, but most likely it’ll be once every two-three weeks or even a month, though very unlikely. If anyone wants to fully pick this up, just dm me on discord or something.

Anyways, I’ll tell you the novel once I’m done with that novel’s first/teaser chapter.

Also, let me tell you a secret. I only spend a fraction of my free time translating. If I spend like half of it, I could probably even do daily updates if I also make each chapter 2k-3k words (Currently 3k-4k).
