For the past 4 days, Daemon was having a mental breakdown right from the moment when he saw the Army Commander also here.

'Have I gone mad?'

'Was I hallucinating?'

'Is that really the Army Commander that I saw?'

'How is that possible?'

'Does that mean…, the war was lost?'

He simply could not wrap his head around the facts or rather still, he just didn't want to believe the reality that was being presented before him.

'If we lost, what became of the fate of Planet Darvis?'

'Did we get enslaved like the Bug Emperor always yammered about?'

'If our Planet got enslaved, then why did the Army Commander have to die?'

'Or, did he simply refuse to live a life of slavery and committed suicide?'

He doubted it. 'The Army Commander is not one to commit suicide'.

That was when the extremely unlikely but narrow possibility came to his head. 'Was it all a lie? Was it all a scam so we could be conquered without putting much of a fight and so they can win without suffering much casualties?'

'Was the Bug Emperor a shrewd tactician all along?'

'Is Planet Darvis already a desolate Planet devoid of life?'

The more he thought about them, the more speculations came to his mind, leaving his head in such a chaotic state that he could barely think straight.

The only other time when he was not thinking about the war and its outcome was when bored Demons came to carry him away to torture for the thrill.

It was during one of these torture sessions yesterday that he encountered a certain beast, he almost cried out in shock on seeing the familiar ferocious beast.

'Predator!'

"ROAR…!!!" Despite being wiped of his memories already, he remained aggressive as he fought back against the Demons torturing him.

Daemon was happy on seeing another familiar face, but at the same time he was sad because Predator already lost all his memories. At the same time, he was sad because this confirmed the Army Commander's death.

'I guess we were doomed from the beginning'.

'The Army Commander always seemed like a man of miracles, winning battles with odds that were overwhelmingly against us".

"He always seemed to find a way from the deepest depths of despair but I guess even him has a limit'.

'Not every battle can be won'. He succumbed to reality.

The only thing keeping him sane at this moment was just the feeling of experiencing something that you've read about. 'I always thought the Universal Treasure was a long-lost treasure at this era'.

'Master's books recorded it but I never expected to be caught in it one day'.

'I don't have much hopes of escaping it seems'.

'I may as well just use my last days as a free soul to reflect on my life'.

'Sigh…'

In the fiery den where he and hundreds of other souls were kept under a gigantic rock, as their day went uneventfully, a powerful Demon suddenly descended, his powerful descent sending rocks and fire flying everywhere.

THUD!

"Get me that soul!" A deep voice reverberated.

All the Demons reacted, scurrying around like they just saw their Commander. In no time, all the other Demons in this area were separated to corners of this den, leaving only a single soul behind, Daemon.

'Gulp…'

'What have I done this time?'

Without saying a word of explanation, the huge and powerful Demon took large strides closer before picking him up with a devious grin.

Daemon recognized the grin; it was that grin of having found food.

He took a deep breath, perhaps his last one.

'At least, I won't get to live the rest of my life as a soul warrior'.

Souls captured by the Underworld could not be killed but they could be absorbed by the Demons, it was their way of getting stronger.

CRUNCH!

With one powerful bite, the Demon swallowed the soul.

He turned and left, then activities continued in this den like nothing significant happened. It was just a casual activity in a normal day in the Underworld.

"Welcome back, Core Protector".

"Holy Smokes!" Daemon jolted in shock.

When his eyes finally adjusted to the dim lighting, he recognized that he was inside what seemed like a moving rock. Not just any moving rock, the molten walls of this rock pulsed at intervals like it was a living rock.

This was shocking but not the most shocking to this Necromancer, it was the man sitting before him that shocked him the most.

He rubbed his eyes rigorously to confirm that he was not hallucinating nor dream-walking. "A-Army Commander Legolas?"

"Yeah, it's me".

"We're currently inside the stomach of the Demon that ate you".

Daemon chuckled. "Damn, the depression and loneliness must have really gotten to me, I thought I was just killed by a high-tier Demon".

"Swallowed, not killed, I commanded him to do it".

Hearing him talk again, Daemon was even more spooked now. He took careful steps closer, then he touched the Commander's soul. "Holy!"

"You're real!"

"I'm not hallucinating!"

"Yeah, you're not". Legolas nodded.

The next moment, Legolas was bombarded with questions. "How did you do it? How are you here? How did you recover your memories? How were you able to subdue such a powerful Grade B Demon?"

"What happened after I died? What is the outcome of the war?"

Legolas took time to answer all the questions, of course omitting his game interface then he finally answered the most pivotal question. "We lost".

He told Daemon everything that happened after his death.

By the time that Legolas was done, a sad solemn atmosphere was in the air. "May their souls rest in peace".

Legolas nodded.

His face finally became serious as he looked at Daemon. "I didn't just come to save you for no reason, I have been hatching an escape plan".

"I came to save you because you're my comrade and also because I already made you an integral part of my plan".

"I've learned that being a Necromancer gave you privileges".

"Tell me more privileges that you've discovered".

"Uhh…, apart from remembering everything that happened from the moment of coming and recognizing where I was brought to, perhaps the only other privilege is that I can shift souls in here".

"Explain".

"I can perfectly possess low to middle-tier Demons".

"…" Legolas kept silent for a few seconds as he assimilated this new information, integrating and adapting it into his escape plan.

"What if you meet an injured Upper Demon, can you possess it?"

Daemon scratched his head. "Depends".

Legolas nodded.

About a minute later, he finally drew the plan out for Daemon.

"This is my plan; I call it Operation Escape from Hell!"

"First, I need to get all my beasts back".

"Then, we get these 2 souls, they're very integral to our plan".

"Then, we go for the final piece, the ring".

After looking through the plan, Daemon was amazed, he looked at Legolas like he was a god. "You really crafted an escape plan from here!"

"Yeah". Legolas nodded with a calm but calculating look in his eyes.

"You said you saw Predator, let's go for him first".

Operation Escape from Hell started!
