Stray

Chapter 102: captivity

The afternoon sun shines brightly.

Fergil retracted his hand, he was not wearing a mask, his usual bright smile disappeared at this moment. The tall man lowered his head and looked coldly at what was struggling on the ground—

That was the Demon Warlock they encountered when they first entered the door. He basically lost his human appearance and was closer to a mass of tar. The alienation was so severe that only a human-like head remained, and other parts were completely twisted into a dark, sticky oil.

"How dare you...how can you use the Corrosion Charm! You filthy traitor!"

"Because it's very useful." Vergil's tone was mixed with a sneer, "It's also very suitable for torture."

"You are...!"

"Yeah, but I'm not the same as you, the **** that preys on children, 'Sie the Piper'. Even human hunters know that hunting pups is very different. Wise choice."

"You..." The Demon Warlock who fell to the ground couldn't speak anymore, his deformed body had turned into pus and blood. The only remaining head was like ice cubes soaked in hot water, and his mouth began to melt and deform, so he could only open his bloodshot eyes in vain.

Soon the head disappeared completely, leaving only the dirty and sticky blood on the slate.

Fergil slowly opened a vial and sprinkled the white powder on top of the blood. With a piercing squeak, the only trace of the demon warlock left in this world disappeared. He glanced at the position of the sun and briefly estimated the time. Shortly after noon, the inquiries went more smoothly than he imagined.

Find a few small characters to confirm the information. Virgil put on his mask again and stroked the rough walls of the church.

"Colestoro," he murmured, "wait for me a little longer, okay?"

Library, third room.

There is a small tea table and two chairs in the center of the room. Nemo pulled one of them away silently, and put his entire body weight on it. He gripped the armrests of his chair and stared at the lamps hanging on the walls around the room. Due to its underground location, this cramped room has no windows. In addition to the hanging lights, the roof has a recessed circular structure with a soft warm light from the edges.

It was not dark here, but Nemo only felt that the thick shadow had drowned his knees and froze his calves.

"Baggarmoru." Nemo, who had been silent for a long time, finally spoke, his voice was as small as he was talking to himself. "Why are you looking into me since you've already run away? Just because you're not sure about my race?"

The grey parrot hesitated.

If you put it before, it will definitely say its own guess without mercy. But now Nemo Wright's state is really not right - his tone has a strong negative intention, and he definitely senses something close to the answer, and he doesn't sound like that answer.

Bagelmoru turned his head hard.

"Because of the breath." It finally chose to speak the truth carefully, not sure if it was a test of bad taste. "You... your breath doesn't seem to have experienced combat. So what you said on Nadine's side..." was untenable. It said in his heart, not daring to say it.

"So you think I might be lying." A wry smile appeared on Nemo's expressionless face, "Well, I can understand why you ran away."

"But I'm not lying," he added with difficulty, staring at a grain of wood on the tea table.

Nemo swept through the collection of Abyss Church. He thought that such a huge amount of information would take at least a few days to sort out. Unexpectedly, just like the fine pebbles thrown into the lake, the collection of books in the whole three rooms did not bring much burden to his brain. If the author of those books hadn't made an appointment to talk nonsense together, there are only two answers about his "race".

Or a humanoid rogue that has never been recorded, contrary to all known laws of nature. In the abyss, all the demons with some strength have records, only the wanderers at the bottom of the abyss are still unknown. Maybe he was just trying to seal his memory so he could climb out of the abyss and look around. This possibility is not zero, but it is also miraculously remote - like the hope of discovering creatures exactly like humans from the deepest depths of unreachable ocean trenches.

Or a creature known to the world as a "Demon King".

He desperately searched for exceptions and counter-examples in those documents, trying to overturn his conjecture about the "Demon King". He did dig up more details, and those details, without exception, justified the absurd conjecture.

Nimo pushed his fingers into his black hair, resting his elbows on the edge of the tea table. He had never really expected a miracle, but for the first time he needed it so much.

It's okay not to be a human being, but also to be a superior demon that has never been seen before. Any kind of monster will do. In this way his actions can be chaotic, aimless, or even out of curiosity.

But if...if it's the "Demon King".

The arrival of Bagelmore, Oliver's abnormally powerful force. Are they really "accidentally" traveling together? What if all encounters were prearranged?

Nimo reached out and gripped the robe fabric on his chest, suddenly having trouble breathing. His body dutifully mimics a human, and the blood rushes into his brain, making his head a little dizzy.

Assuming that the "Demon King" is really a "one" creature that continues to evolve, then it has existed for tens of thousands of years. He is still "Nimo Wright", but once the memories that are really hidden in the dark come together, is he still "himself"?

He has never been able to truly fear death, and can give up everything in front of him casually. If that's because he subconsciously knew that he wouldn't really die, then everything "doesn't matter" to him in the end...

Nimo opened his hands and slapped his cheeks hard, making a very loud "pop" sound. The grey parrot, who was concentrating on his words and expressions, was so frightened that all his feathers exploded.

"It's all hypotheses—" Nemo said to himself sternly, forcing himself to cut off his train of thought. "No evidence."

"Did you get what you wanted?" A sultry female voice sounded in the direction of the room entrance. Nemo raised his head sharply, all his attention being captured by the thought that had just come. He didn't even notice the arrival of Bishop of the Abyss, Hagen Ingram.

"Don't be surprised." Hagen pulled the chair across from Nemo, straightened his skirt, and sat down. "I just made sure to confirm with Lord Della Laineen that you are not his servant."

She didn't come alone, two knights dressed in grotesque manners stood silently on either side of the small tea table. They were dressed in jet-black matte armor, their cloaks of unknown material, and thin black smoke billowing from the irregular ends.

The abyss bishop gestured to the two knights, and then took off the delicate black gauze hat.

Nimo blinked.

Her head is indeed three or four times bigger than the average person, and she has a beautiful face - if there is only one face on it. Four or five pretty faces were crowded on her head, even taking up the space of her scalp. Four or five pairs of eyes stared at Nemo at the same time. Nemo would have been twice as nervous when they had just met.

Unfortunately, Nemo has completely lost his nervousness now, he just stared straight into one of the other's eyes with a blank face.

"I'm not mistaken, you really are an interesting person." Hagen raised his hand, a book that didn't have time to climb into her palm, the bright white painted with bright red nails Fingers pinched on the flesh of the book. "These books have been... so which one are you?"

Bagelmoru quietly hid behind Nemo.

"Which one?"

"If you can open the records related to the demon king, you are definitely a demon warlock and above." She tilted her head, which should be a playful move, but it was only scary when she did it. "And your twist is too small, and the movement of holding the staff is a bit jerky, that is not a problem for a powerful demon warlock. Lord Bagelmoru is also very interesting to see your reaction, that is not a problem. Like surprise, that's fear."

The church that worships the Demon Lord, Nemo smiled bitterly in his heart, and a bunch of nonsense rolled through his head. He really hoped that the Demon King had some unique mark or feature, so that he and the Church of the Abyss could give each other a happy answer. Out of some wondrous state of mind, Nemo found himself unable to regain his nervousness. He even thought the situation was a little funny.

There was only one definite thought in Nemo's head at the moment - she noticed him, and he had to deal with it, otherwise he would not be able to explain to Mr. Vergil at all.

Maybe misunderstood Nemo's silence, Hagen paused for a moment and then spoke again: "Since you didn't call your name, may I think...you didn't come to cooperate with us?"

"I just came to find some information." Nemo responded cautiously, "I don't want to attract unnecessary attention."

"Then you picked a bad time." Hagen put on the gauze cap and let out a sigh. "Can I chat with you?"

"Please." Nemo answered quickly, watching his reaction carefully. Hagen should know that he is a superior demon, but her attitude has not softened, and she even seems to be able to do it with ease.

"I have received a lot of eccentric adults." She said gently, "To be honest, I don't want to interfere in your actions. Even if you don't take us seriously, you treat us It's also a noble messenger from the abyss. But the situation is really special... You may not know that O'Lorre is coming, and you don't want to meet him."

Nemo rummaged for the name in his mind for a moment, the first thing that came up was the two **** words "Superior Demon Killer" and "Guardian of Order".

"He will only appear at your new moon sacrifice." Nemo said slowly, "But now there are still two weeks before the new moon."

"No, I don't know why this year...he is already heading in this direction. If our information is correct, he will be here in two days."

"So you plan to sacrifice in advance."

"Accurately, it's not 'Olori will only appear at the Crescent Sacrifices', but 'The Crescent Sacrifices only exist because he will appear'. Now you know the situation."

Her fingers crossed, resting on the small tea table. "Will you help us fight him off, my lord?"

"What if I refuse?" An idea suddenly crossed Nemo's mind, he said in a deep voice, carefully showing a little momentum.

"Then please leave immediately."

"Unfortunately, I'm not going to take orders from a demon warlock."

"Then there is no way." Hagen stood up and set up the chair, she took two steps back and saluted. "excuse me."

A complex magic circle instantly appeared on the originally empty stone brick floor. The magic circle specially used to restrain the superior demons, thanks to the fresh knowledge just harvested today, Nemo recognized this thing at a glance. It can only make the superior demon incapacitate for a short time. Nemo moved his fingers quietly at an angle that Hagen couldn't see—obviously, it didn't work for him.

But he didn't move.

Two knights stood beside him, two pale bone swords crossed across his chest. The small white magic circle floated along the bone sword.

"Erosion Charms." Hagen explained kindly, "Please don't move, I think you know what this is... After all, it is a once-in-three-hundred-year event. Even if it is a distinguished guest, we I don't want you to cause any trouble."

The grey parrot shivered and stood on Nemo's shoulder consciously. Hagen glanced at it, and a few chuckles leaked from behind the black veil.

"I didn't expect you to learn surface religion... You don't have to be so polite." Nemo said quietly, twitching the corners of his mouth. "If I remember correctly, every time Orori comes, you will sacrifice a piece of the flesh and blood of a superior demon to the Demon King."

"You're going too far." She replied with a smile, "Demon Warlocks also have the flesh and blood of superior demons in their bodies, of course we won't attack you. It's just a temporary grievance for you, please don't mind ."

"Take our guest into the dungeon," she ordered, "give him the best room."
