The Blue Eyes

Chapter 100 - THE AFTERMATH

The long-haired girl grimaced slightly as her injured right arm was carefully treated by a nurse. Her black shirt was torn at the upper sleeve, and there were sizable scratches on her fair skin.

Her blue eyes wandered to the battlefield, which was now calm again.

She saw the corpses of werewolves being put into body bags by the army. Among the monsters, there were even women and children werewolves.

Blue still remembered when she was taken to the secret island to meet the leader of the werewolves. She saw the women and the children back then. She thought she could save them and give them a better life, but she was mistaken.

Until the end, they weren't willing to surrender so that the military forces' advanced weapons were forced to attack them.

That's right. The werewolf monsters were still determined to attack them even after Jack surrendered to Blue. Blue and Jack were frozen in place when they saw the horde of monsters running towards them with expressions full of hatred, but luckily, the military force arrived just in time to save them.

With their barracudas and sophisticated weapons, the military forces began to attack the monsters that were rampaging out of control.

Jack had tried to initiate mediation with them, persuading them to surrender and start a new life, but the tattooed man was attacked by them using the power of fire until the man suffered serious burns on his left shoulder.

Blue glanced to her left and found a doctor and two nurses tried to provide first aid to Jack's burns. Jack had been adamant that the wounds would heal on their own because he had fast recovery abilities, but the doctor and nurses insisted on taking care of him.

Jack's broken arm had also recovered, so now he only suffered burning wounds that would also be healed in no time.

Blue studied Jack secretly and found him smiling as he watched the doctors and nurses who were painstakingly treating his wounds. It seemed that the black-haired man felt 'accepted' by humans.

Jack used to loathe humans, but now it seemed that the young werewolf's outlook had changed.

The girl actually regretted not having succeeded in persuading the previous generation of werewolves to give up even though the humans had agreed to treat them well if they were willing to give up.

The government and the military had indeed agreed to accept the werewolves if they were willing to surrender in peace. They knew that the werewolves were originally humans, so they intended to give the werewolves a second chance. After all, the antidote to restore their forms had also been found, so there was no reason not to accept the monsters back.

Unfortunately, the werewolves had already instilled hatred that was ingrained in humans. Perhaps they would rather die than surrender to humans. Maybe they were afraid that they would be the object of research, so they prefer to die. After all, they had all suffered for decades.

It's bad, but it's already happened. Fortunately, the new species of werewolves that lacked intelligence had been captured properly without causing any further bloodshed. Luckily, there was a great weapon created by Professor Selena to immobilize them.

Ah, Professor Selena! How was Professor Selena doing now? Should she teleport to the island again to confirm Professor Selena's condition?

Honestly, Blue had a bad feeling about the lady's condition.

"Blue?"

The blue-eyed girl's reverie shattered when her ears caught a sound coming from her right. She turned and found Kevin walked towards her with Kris beside him.

Blue reflexively stood up, causing the nurse, who was treating her wound, to fall backward because of her sudden movement. Luckily Blue's wound had been perfectly bandaged.

"Brother Kevin!"

The girl, whose appearance looked disheveled, ran quickly to meet Kevin. She then hugged the man tightly. It seemed she was so relieved to see Kevin was safe.

Kevin chuckled at Blue's behavior. He was about to raise his hands to hug the young girl back, but he gave up on his intention after he saw the white bandage wrapped around Blue's upper arm. The young man's eyes widened at Blue's scar.

"Are you hurt, Blue?"

Blue let go of her hug and smiled at the young man. "Only a small wound, and it's been treated. No need to worry, Brother!"

The girl could be smiling cheerfully even though she had just had a great fight.

Nevertheless, the cheerful smile had made Kevin stunned. It was the first time Kevin saw Blue's smile that looked so carefree. It seemed like a huge weight had just been lifted off the girl's chest.

Perhaps after Blue learned all the truth, the girl felt relieved and could finally live in peace. Or maybe something happened to make the girl's face sparkled right now?

Kevin couldn't guess, but he was happy to see Blue like that.

The young man's hand then gently stroked the girl's head. "I'm glad you're safe, Blue," the man spoke again.

Blue didn't immediately answer and instead noticed Kevin's messy appearance from top to bottom. His clothes were soaking wet from the 'local rain' earlier, and there were several scars on Kevin's neck, face, and hands. Oh! There was also a burning mark on his hand! That inevitably brought a worried look to the young girl's beautiful face.

"You're hurt, Brother!" The girl screamed in fear. "Your wound must be treated immediately so that it doesn't get infected. Come on follow me."

Unable to be stopped, Blue immediately pulled Kevin's hand to go somewhere.

Kevin glanced at Kris, who had been neglected. That's right. Why hadn't Blue seen the Kris since earlier? Even though the tall man was there, Blue didn't even make small talk of asking how he was doing. He truly was nothing in Blue's eyes.

But, the caramel-haired man finally just sighed and shrugged his shoulders as he started walking to follow Kevin and Blue. He couldn't do anything because Blue was always like that to him.

And when the three of them finally arrived at the place where the injured people were being treated, Kris's eyes narrowed when he saw the figure of Jack, who had just been treated by a doctor and two nurses.

"Why is he still alive?" Kris asked harshly as he pointed his right index finger at Jack.

Blue and Kevin turned at the same time to Jack, and Kevin looked surprised to see Jack there.

"Jack has surrendered and promised to be a good person. Don't bother him," Blue answered Kris's question curtly.

Kris stared at Blue in disbelief, but then he immediately looked away when he realized Jack had been standing beside him for some time.

"I hate to say this, but I think your decision to side with humans is the right one, Kris. I'm sorry for my attitude towards you all this time."

Kris's eyes gawked at Jack. He still put up a guard against the tattooed man. He certainly didn't forget how Jack had been so evil to him all this time. And wasn't it just hours ago that Jack had almost killed him while the two of them were fighting?

"What is your real plan? I'm not stupid to believe in you so easily."

Blue seemed embarrassed to see Kris, who kept accusing Jack, so she walked over to the two of them and interceded for them.

"Hey, Uncle," the girl called out in a defiant voice as her chin raised proudly. "I managed to persuade Jack to give up, and he is my responsibility now. If he messes up, then I'll be responsible."

Kris glared in disbelief at Blue's words, and slowly he heard laughter from the other side. He turned to the source of the sound and found Kevin laughed at him.

"Maybe you should try to believe in Blue, Kris. Don't you see how serious Blue's expression is?" Kevin asked as he walked over to the three people. "And you, Blue. Kris is the same as you. He can't easily trust people. You should understand the best about what it's like to be Kris by now."

Getting a rebuke from her brother, Blue could only lower her head as she tried to memorize how rude she had been to Kris all this time because she couldn't trust the tall man. Perhaps Kevin's words have some truth. Perhaps she should be able to understand Kris.

The young girl sighed, then looked up again to stare at Kris. "Jack really has repented. Furthermore, this is all my choice because I—"

"Excuse me!"

The four people simultaneously turned to the source of the voice that cut Blue's sentence. They saw a young man in an army uniform stared at them with an indescribable expression.

"Headquarters just called, and I was asked to break the news regarding Professor Selena Beischel."

Hearing the professor's name made the faces of the four people tense. They were seriously waiting for further news to be delivered by the soldier.

"We just got a report from our members who served at the port," the young soldier continued. "They are our members who escorted Professor Selena Beischel to the island that allegedly to be the secret base of the werewolves. They reported that not too long ago, there was a big explosion on the island, which caused the hill on the island to collapse."

The four people were shocked after the soldier finished reporting. Kevin was the one who looked the most surprised. His face now looked pale, and his eyes were teary.

"Then... then how is my mother?" He asked in a voice that sounded very weak.

The young soldier looked troubled and perplexed about how to answer the question, but in the end, he hesitantly answered, "It looks like Professor Selena died in that incident."
