The Blue Eyes

Chapter 138 - THEY ARE GOING TO KISS?

Kevin was driving Kris's red car at medium speed. His heavy heart grew a bit lighter after meeting the former General today. It was true that he was still clueless about something related to his mother, but he chose to brush aside that matter for now and focused more on their investigation now.

He was driving to the orphanage after he met with Derek Dawson. Before he left the luxury mansion, the old man was so happy to hear his decision. Yes, he decided to do the extraction procedure this week, and the former General was beyond happy to hear that.

It seemed that many people were waiting for him to make that decision, and Kevin was cool about that. He just wanted to help the werewolves to return to their origins as humans.

The red car gradually lost its speed as it approached the orphanage. It finally stopped in front of the big building, and the driver got out of the car.

Kevin smiled as he walked toward the front door. He was excited to meet Kris now because he wanted to share his findings today with his lover. He felt a bit guilty to hurt his lover's feelings yesterday, so he wanted to share something with his lover as compensation.

The black-hair man opened the front door without knocking it first, and he quickly brought his body to enter the orphanage building. And he froze right away. His smile vanished without leaving a trace, his face turned black, and his eyes turned green.

There, on top of a sofa in the living room, Kris was leaning his back against the back of the sofa, and Jack was leaning forward to him. Their faces were close enough as if they were going to kiss.

Kris noticed his presence, and he quickly pushed Jack's body away. He then stood up and greeted his lover, "You're home, Kev? How was the meeting with Mr. Dawson?"

Kevin didn't reply. Instead, he shifted his gaze to Jack, who was still sitting on the sofa. The tattooed man looked so calm as he gazed at him with his innocent eyes.

"What were you two doing just now?" Kevin asked as he turned to his lover again.

Kris seemed to be surprised by the question. He glanced down at Jack and rubbed the nape of his neck nervously. "We weren't doing anything, Kev. Why did you ask like that?" He asked back as he stared at Kevin with guilty eyes.

Those pair of guilty eyes made Kevin frown. He closed the door behind him and stepped toward his lover. He stopped in front of Kris and peered at Jack. "I think you two were about to kiss just now?" He asked while glancing back and forth between Kris and Jack.

Kris's eyes widened at his lover's question. "What?" He asked in surprise. "It's impossible for me to kiss him! We just, just...." He found it difficult to finish his sentence and drew his gaze away from Kevin. "We were just fighting!" He then continued in panic.

Kevin frowned deeper. He exactly knew that his lover was lying. Kris couldn't look at him in the eyes, he kept stuttering, and he suddenly raised his tone as well. Those were Kris's habits when he was lying. Kevin had noted that since long time ago.

"Is it still about our childhood?" Kevin asked again as he pretended to believe in what Kris just said. He then looked down at Jack and continued, "Jack, I know you hated me because I stole Kris from you when we were still kids, and I apologize to you for that. But, can you please forget about that matter and move on? If you want to play with Kris now, then you can do it. Just take it as my way to pay for your childhood's loss."

Jack raised his eyebrow and got up from his seat. "Do you think I'm a kid, Kevin?" He asked coldly. "I don't want to play with your boyfriend. I want to..." He glanced at Kris and smirked as if he was challenging the latter.

Kris noticed the devilish smirk and immediately butted in, "Don't listen to him, Kev!" He grabbed Kevin's shoulder. "He was just talking nonsense! Don't waste your time to listen to him!"

Kevin's face darkened at his lover's rebuke. He felt more suspicious after hearing the rebuke. He knew that his lover was hiding something from him, and it was related to Jack. He guessed that the issue between the two was no longer related to their childhood. The two men had a new issue that he didn't know.

Kevin just sighed and dropped his body on the sofa. He was tired just by listening to the nonsenses. "Just sit down. I have some important matter to discuss," once again he decided to let the matter pass.

Kris and Jack looked at each other. The latter smirked at him, and Kris returned the smirk with a glare. Without saying anything, Kris sat down beside his lover. Jack could only comply and sat on a single sofa. The tattooed man was still so calm as ever.

"Uh, wait. I'll call Blue first before we can start our discussion." Kris suddenly remembered about Blue and quickly got up from his seat. He then walked toward his niece's room.

There were only Kevin and Jack left in the living room. The atmosphere in the room was suffocating when the two of them gawked at each other with a murderous gaze. No one knew what was on their minds.

"What is your problem, Jack?" Kevin asked the other man.

The man raised his thick eyebrow and asked back, "What problem?"

Kevin was about to answer Jack's question, but Kris had come back to the living room with Blue trailing behind him. The man sat beside him again, and Blue sat on the other long sofa in the room. Kevin was forced to swallow his curiosity.

The young scientist glanced at Jack for a moment before shifting his gaze to Kris and Blue. "I got some pieces of information from Mr. Dawson," he started explaining. "The pieces of information mainly about my mother, but other than that, I also got some confirmations about Rodein."

"Didn't Mr. Dawson feel suspicious when you suddenly asked him about Rodein?" Kris asked in concern.

"It's not suddenly," Kevin answered casually. "But, yeah, he was confused when I asked about Rodein. I told him that I planned a holiday in Rodein, and that's why I asked him about the district. He didn't seem to notice my lie."

Kris breathed a sigh of relief and nodded his head.

Seeing his lover could accept his explanation, Kevin continued, "Mr. Dawson told me one surprising fact." He looked at the three people one by one. "He told me that he was the one who made the blue sapphire bomb for my mother."

The three people widened their eyes at Kevin's explanation. It was obvious that the explanation was unexpected to them.

"What?" Jack was the first one to react. "Your mother didn't make the bomb by herself? Why did the crazy General assist her to commit suicide?"

Kevin lowered his head and stared at the floor blankly. "He apologized to me for that," he replied softly. "He knew my mother's plan, but he couldn't stop her. He said my mother had been so tired all these years. My mother needed some rest."

Jack was speechless after he heard the scientist's answer. He shook his head and leaned his back on the back of the sofa.

Kris stared at Kevin sadly and flung his arm to hug the latter's shoulder. "Just like what I said before, Kev. Your mother was indeed tired of everything. That's her best choice."

Kevin straightened his body and looked at his lover. "You're right," he said while smiling wryly. "We better focus on our investigation now," he continued as he looked ahead again. "About Rodein District, Mr. Dawson confirmed that Calenta and Prime's relationship is still bad, and they don't have any cooperations until now. It's impossible if the government bought weapons from Primea."

"So, the weapons that were transported from Primea in 2021 and before last year's war were indeed illegal?" Blue asked curiously.

Kevin nodded in confirmation. "I'm not sure if the buyer is the same person, but I'm sure that the weapons are illegal."

The four people then fell silent after Kevin answered Blue's question. Each of them seemed to have a scenario playing in their heads. Kevin indeed brought new information, but the information wasn't enough to solve the mystery.

"Then, how about your investigation, Blue?" The young scientist suddenly broke the silence as he turned to the young girl. He just remembered this morning Blue told him that she was going to investigate the abandoned mine.

Blue was a bit surprised to hear the question. She looked hesitant and peeped at her uncle timidly. She could see his uncle nodded at her, so she turned to Kevin again and asked, "Do you know who Fredy Lowell is, Brother?"

Kevin flinched in surprise when he heard the name. "Fredy Lowell?" He asked back while his heart beating loudly. "Of course I know him. He is my adoptive father's younger brother. He is my uncle."
