The Blue Eyes

Chapter 144 - THE BLUE EYES

Kevin was unconscious the whole day. He still closed his eyes tightly while laying on top of the bed in the laboratory.

It was too troublesome to bring Kevin back to their apartment in this state, so Kris decided to wait for Kevin to wake up first before going back to their apartment.

The tan-skinned man didn't leave his lover and stayed at the laboratory the whole day. At the first two hours, he was so devoted sitting beside the bed while holding Kevin's pale hand. But, after two hours passed, the handsome werewolf started to feel bored, and he decided to do other activities to run away from his boredom.

He chatted with AZURE, talking about many things related to the past and the current situation. Sometimes they bickered, and Kris even smacked the robot's head several times when the robot annoyed him.

Even so, Kris didn't get angry at the robot for too long because he only had the robot to entertain him now. Staying with a naughty robot was better than staying alone in the laboratory.

The werewolf and the robot were playing a card game right now. Kris sitting cross-legged on the floor, and the cute robot sitting opposite him with several cards in their hands.

"I didn't expect that you've been hiding these cards in the laboratory all these times, you naughty robot."

AZURE rolled its blue eyes when it heard Kris's scolding.

"I remember you loved to play these card games with the Old Master last year. Both you and the Old Master were childish sometimes."

The robot physically looked like a kid, but it dared to call the adult man childish.

Kris wasn't offended by the rude statement, though. Instead, he was smiling from ear to ear as he recalled the memory.

"This card game is the upgrade version of the old card games when I was a kid. Jack was the one who introduced me to the games, but I ended up playing with Kevin more after he kept cheating on me when we played together."

The memory was still fresh in Kris's mind, and he easily recalled the moment when he and Kevin enjoyed the card games too much. Sometimes, they even got scolded by Kevin's mother because they played with the card too much to the point they forgot to eat.

"Who was the winner when you played together with the Master, Kris?"

Kris once again looked down at the robot after the cute robot questioned him with an unexpected question.

"You asked me who was the winner?" He asked back in a mocking tone. "Of course, I always won when we played the card together! Kevin was just like a confused chick with the cards in his hands."

"I was just like a confused chick?"

"Yes, you were no more than a confused chick back then."

Kris smiled after he calmly answered the question, but then he noticed that something wasn't right here.

"Are you the one who just asked me a question, AZURE?"

The little robot blinked its blue eyes when it heard Kris's weird question.

"I didn't ask you anything, Kris."

The robot's innocent reply made Kris frown. If it wasn't AZURE, then who was the one who asked him a question? There were only two people and one robot in the laboratory. If AZURE wasn't the one, then...

"KEVIN!"

Kris reflectively threw his cards away and hastily got up from the floor. He quickly ran toward the bed and found his lover still laid on the bed with his closed eyes. He, in a slight panic, grabbed Kevin's hand and squeezed it lovingly.

"Are you the one who asked me the question, Kev? Are you awake now?"

It was quite strange. Kris was sure that Kevin was the one who had asked him a question before, but Kevin's eyes remained hidden beneath the lids. That wasn't normal.

"You lied to AZURE, Kris," the scientist replied while still closing his eyes. "I always came out as the winner many years ago. You were the one who looked like a confused chick back then!"

Even at a time like this, Kevin still argued with him and revealed that he had lied to the innocent robot.

"Let's not talk about that now," the taller man spoke sternly. "Why don't you open your eyes, hm? Do you feel hurt somewhere in your eyes?"

Instead of answering Kris's question, Kevin carefully lifted his body, and now he was in a sitting position on the bed.

"My eyes... they feel cold, Kris."

Kris's heart dropped when he heard Kevin's answer. He was nervous, and his hands trembled when they moved to frame's Kevin face.

He carefully examined Kevin's closed eyes, but he found nothing after examining it for a few seconds.

"There's nothing wrong with your eyelids, Kev," he stated after he was done with the quick check. "Can you try to open your eyes? Maybe there's a problem with your eyes. I'll examine them after you open your eyes."

Kevin was a bit hesitant, but then he slowly opened his eyelids. Once the eyelids no longer covered the pair of eyeballs, Kris froze in his position.

"Come here, AZURE!" He called out the robot in panic. "You should go check Kevin's condition. How come his eyes turned blue after the extraction? Is there something wrong with the procedure? You should check on him, AZURE!"

Kevin became panicked because of his lover's strange behavior. "What happened to my eyes, Kris? Did they turn blue after the extraction?"

The pair of familiar blue eyes blinked at Kris with a hint of anxiety. Those twin blue crystals were not a new sight for him. When Kevin transformed into a werewolf or his anime boy form, Kevin's eyes turned blue as well. But, why did the twin obsidians suddenly turn into a pair of azurites after the extraction?

"Please step aside so I can check on Master's condition, Kris."

Kris wanted to step aside to comply with the order, but then he realized something. How could a 40 centimeters robot reach Kevin, who was currently sitting on the bed?

Kris, with his initiative, finally scooped AZURE's small body and put it on top of Kevin's lap. The latter immediately grabbed the robot's figure so it wouldn't fall on the floor.

Not long after, the robot started examining Kevin's eyes. Kris silently observed from the side when blue rays emanated from AZURE's blue eyes, and the rays seemed to scan Kevin's eyes carefully.

After the scanning process was complete, the blue rays vanished, and AZURE started to analyze the scanning result.

Kris just patiently waited for the result. He looked like a panicked husband who was waiting for his wife to give birth to their first child.

"There's nothing wrong with Master's eyes," the robot finally announced the result of the examination.

The announcement made Kris and Kevin frown in confusion.

"Are you sure there's nothing wrong with Kevin's eyes?"

"I'm sure, Kris. I've done a complete examination on Master's eyes, and nothing is wrong with Master's eyes. You don't have to worry about my Master's condition. He will be alright."

"But, why did his eyes suddenly turn blue? If the antidote had been successfully extracted, then Kevin's physic should return to normal, right? Did the professor tell you something about it?"

"The professor didn't tell me anything about it, but based on my analysis, the blue eyes are just a side effect from the extraction process. The blue eyes won't cause harm to him."

Kris was about to continue his query, but then Kevin suddenly grabbed his arm, preventing him from asking any more questions.

"Can I borrow your phone, Kris? I want to see my eyes condition."

Kris immediately nodded before he fished out his phone from his pants pocket. The tan-skinned man then opened the front camera and handed the phone to his lover.

Kevin accepted the phone and quickly brought the phone in front of his face. He then carefully examined his blue eyes.

"My eyes... are blue now."

Kevin's whisper was full of shock, and Kris carefully took over his phone in Kevin's hand and used his free hand to caress Kevin's head.

"The antidote has been extracted from your body, so you are a normal human now, Kev. You heard AZURE's explanation just now, right? The blue eyes are just the side effect of the extraction. You will be alright after this."

Kevin gloomily looked up at his lover, and the sad expression pinched Kris's heart mercilessly.

"Are you sure, Kris?" Kevin asked timidly. "I know that the antidote has been extracted from my body, but what if the powers remain in my body, Kris? What if I'm still a werewolf now? What if I can't return to a normal human, Kris?"

He wasn't in a quiz nor an exam, but he received so many difficult questions from his lover. How should he answer those questions when he himself was clueless about all of that?
