The Blue Eyes

Chapter 177 - THE REAL EVIL

Kevin drove his new car with a tangled mind. He just 'committed suicide' in front of his foster parents. No, it was not the literal thing. He didn't commit suicide for real, but he just unveiled his secret to his parents that it felt like committing suicide for him.

[Kevin stared timidly at his parents, and they gawked back at him with horror gazes.

His mother was still holding his phone, and her hand was trembling slightly. It was apparent that his parents were shocked by his action.

"That's my lover," Kevin stated firmly.

He had hardened his heart to confess to his foster parents today, and that was why he deliberately showed Kris's photo to his parents. He just didn't want to lie to them, that's all.

He could see his mother trembling hand put down the phone on the table and used the hand to cover her mouth.

"What do you mean by saying that a man is your lover, Kevin? How is it possible for you to date a man?"

It looked like his father was stronger than his mother, and he was still able to continue the interrogation.

"I've never said that I'm dating a girl, Dad."

His father looked even more surprised, and his mother looked like she was going to faint.

They didn't say anything for a few minutes, and Kevin felt like he was in hell. The atmosphere was dense and tense, and his body felt hot and heavy.

"You know that we will never accept your relationship with him, right, Kevin Beischel?"

Kevin felt his heart being squeezed when he heard how his father addressed him. The older man rarely called him by his full name. Even though they had adopted him, they still let him using the Beischel surname. Even so, they rarely mentioned Beischel's name if it wasn't necessary.

"I know, Dad," the young scientist replied firmly. "I respect your decision, but it will not affect my decision."]

That was how their conversation ended today. His father then led his wife to the bedroom and slammed the door harshly. That was a sign that they couldn't accept Kevin's choice.

The grip on the steering wheel grew tighter as the black-haired man tried to channel his emotions through the grip. His mental state was unstable, but a call from Julia was enough to make him gain strength again. He decided to immediately drive his car to the orphanage.

Julia said that she had some information about the case, and Kevin was so eager to know about that. That was why he opted to brush off the matter with his parents and re-focused his mind on the case. The case was his top priority for now.

The car finally reached the orphanage, and he brought his car to stop in front of the building. He unfastened his seatbelt with his trembling hands and immediately got out of the car. He was wrecked and broken, but he was lucky that he managed to drive safely. If he wasn't lucky, probably there would be another accident for him.

The raven-haired man hastily opened the door and found four people sitting in the living room. They looked surprised when they saw him, but Kris was the only one who abruptly stood up and walked over to him.

"What happened to you, Kev? You look messy."

Kevin felt like crying when he heard his lover's question. He wanted to hug the taller man and cry on his shoulder, but he held himself back. They were not alone in the room, and he didn't want to make the other people worry about him.

In the end, he just forced a smile and answered, "I'm okay." He continued staring at his lover as if he tried to communicate with his lover through the gaze. He wanted Kris to understand that he didn't want to talk about the matter now.

Luckily, Kris seemed to understand his nonverbal request. He just nodded as he grabbed Kevin's hand and led him to the sofa. Kevin was so fortunate to have a lover like Kris.

"Drink it first, Kev," Kris handed a cup of tea to his lover after they sat side by side on the sofa.

Kevin's hands were still trembling a little when he accepted the cup. He took a sip and felt the warm sensation grazed his throat. The tea calmed him down for a bit.

After that, the young scientist placed the cup on the table and sighed.

The four people were still staring at him confusedly, and one of them decided to ask.

"Are you really okay, Kev? If you are not okay, then we can discuss this matter tomorrow. You don't need to force yourself."

That was Julia who decided to question the scientist. It seemed that she could sense Kevin's gloominess as well.

Kevin turned to the pregnant lady and flashed the lady a small smile. "I'm okay, Jule. I want to hear the new information, so please tell me about it now."

Julia was still hesitant, but then she sighed before speaking, "I found information about the weapons smuggling in Rodein." She then took out several pieces of paper from her bag and placed them on the table. "This is the report. The Intelligence Agency worked together with the Military to investigate the case. The Intelligence Agency did the paperwork while the Military did the fieldwork."

The four people looked at the report on the table seriously.

"As you can see, the weapons smuggling is quite common in Rodein, but the cases written in the reports are just the small cases. None of them is a big case with a big quantity of weapons."

The four people found that what Julia just said was right. The reports were just about small smuggling cases with a small quantity of around three to five weapons in each case. That didn't match the fact that the werewolves used more than fifty weapons in the last war, and they even used more than a thousand weapons in the 2021 war.

"Is it possible that the weapons came in batches?" Jack asked while looking at Julia.

"That's possible," Julia answered. "But even if we total the numbers of each case, the number is still small. I doubt if the weapons really came in batches."

Julia made a good argument. It was unlikely that the weapons came in batches.

"Then, did you find anything about the ship explosion case?" This time, it was Kris who asked a question.

"Unfortunately, no," Julia answered again. "Like what I said before, there was an explosion back then, and it was reported to the government. But the case was closed immediately, so there's no further information about that."

Both Kevin and Kris looked disappointed at the answer. They still remembered how the tavern lady looked so gloomy back then. They wanted to help the lady, but they were at a dead end now.

"Don't give up just yet because I still have another information," the pregnant lady spoke again as she took out a tablet PC from her bag and placed the smart object on the table. "It's about the mysterious man who was seen in a bar in Rodein."

Julia's slim fingers moved on the tablet screen, and not long after, a video that looked like surveillance camera footage appeared on the screen. It was the scene inside the "Wild Wolf" bar, and both Kevin and Kris could recognize the setting immediately.

Julia pressed the play button, and the video started moving. At first, there was no abnormality in the video. Guests came and left the bar normally, and nothing was suspicious. But the four pairs of eyes widened when they caught a glimpse of a familiar figure who entered the bar and sat down in front of a bartender.

"That's Teacher Felix, right?" Blue reflectively asked as she recognized the man in the video.

The other three men were still stunned and couldn't say anything. Their eyes were still fixed on the tablet's screen.

"Yes, that's Felix Smith," Julia was the one who answered Blue's question.

Hearing the confirmation, the three men finally looked up at the pregnant lady. It seemed that they were demanding an explanation.

Julia sighed at the demanding gaze. "I also have no clue about that," he spoke again. "I only asked one of my subordinates to get the surveillance camera data, and this is what I got. Felix Smith came to the bar before the last year's war. The timeline matched your story, right, Kevin? It could be he was the one who made the bartender feel suspicious."

Kevin was silent. He didn't have the strength to answer his friend's question. Everything suddenly pointed at Felix Smith, and it was unexpected for him.

"That man appeared in Rodein and Chilad. I think it's not merely a coincidence," Jack chimed in.

Kevin ignored Jack's opinion as he kept gazing at Julia. "You said that Andre hated Felix Smith, right? Why did your husband hate him?" He asked after remembering Julia's words a week ago.

Julia's face turned cold as she answered, "My husband said that Felix Smith is the real evil."
