The Blue Eyes

Chapter 207 - KEVIN'S EMBRACE

Kris's wounded heart had not healed yet, but Benjamin sliced his heart again with the sharp words that felt like knives.

He really wanted to argue, wanting to say that his guards were not that weak, that it wasn't the guards' fault that the robbers managed to rob his apartment, but he decided to swallow his argument because he didn't want to prolong the matter.

He didn't even have the energy to argue, and all he wanted to do was throw himself into Kevin's embrace. He needed his lover's support so much.

"If it's for Kevin, then I'm willing to sacrifice my life for him. If someone wants to hurt Kevin, then they have to hurt me first. If they want to kill Kevin, then they have to kill me first. As long as I'm still alive, I'll always become Kevin's shield."

Kris didn't even think before he answered Benjamin's question, but his words came out so sternly that they stunned Benjamin a little. The older man fell silent as he kept gazing at Kris, and Kris just returned the gaze with his unperturbed gaze. He indeed dared to sacrifice himself for Kevin's sake.

Benjamin was silent for a few minutes, but then he sighed as he drew his gaze away from the younger man. "Just go back to Kevin and don't make him worry. I'm sure he's been waiting for your arrival in his room."

Without waiting for a response, Benjamin turned around and walked away from Kris. Kris's body grew weaker as he stared at the man's departure. It wasn't because he was scared of the man, but it was because he had been hiding his pain for so long that it started to kill him inside.

He needed Kevin's hug now.

Not wanting to conceal his pain any longer, Kris hurriedly headed to Kevin's room with wide steps. He didn't even feel the need to knock on the door as he immediately pushed open the wooden door.

There, on the edge of the bed, Kevin was sitting and looked surprised to see his arrival. The raven-haired man immediately got up from the bed, and he almost fell backward when Kris suddenly ambushed him with a hug.

His heart dropped when he felt that something was not right with his lover.

"What happened, Kris?" He asked softly while bringing his hands to rub Kris's shaking back. Yeah, Kris wasn't crying, but his body was shaking.

Kevin was clueless, but his lover didn't give him an immediate response and just continued hugging him so tightly. Kevin didn't want to force his lover to give him a quick answer, though. He just patiently waited until his lover was ready to tell him everything, while his hands didn't stop caressing his lover's trembling back.

"I... I lost my seven brothers, Kev."

The answer finally came in a barely audible voice, and Kevin almost failed to catch it if he wasn't staying so close with his lover right now.

Kris's brothers. Kevin knew that his lover didn't have any biological brothers in the world, but he knew who were the brothers mentioned by his lover just now.

His chest tightened as he realized what his lover meant. "You... you meant, your guards... your brothers... died?" He couldn't even form a coherent question and just voiced out what was on his mind. His body grew weaker as well, but he still tried his best to support his lover's body.

"Yes," Kris answered in an even weaker tone. "There was a robbery in our apartment, and the robbers... they killed my brothers."

Kevin gasped when he heard the further explanation. His mind wandered to the image of Kris's brothers. Those guards were quite invisible to him. They were always there to guard their apartment, but they were so quiet that he barely talked to them.

Kevin often cooked some meals for them, but they just thanked them without initiating further conversation with him. That was why those guards were barely visible for Kevin.

"You said that you lost your seven brothers, right? So, one of your brothers is safe?"

Kris nodded his head before pulling himself away from his lover's embrace. He didn't cry, but his eyes were red due to his sadness. And those pair of eyes didn't even dare to make contact with his lover's blue eyes.

"Steve is safe," he finally replied. "I gave him another task, so he didn't there with the rest when the robbers attacked them."

Steve Fint. Kevin also knew about that man a little. The man was the leader of the guard team, and in comparison to other guards in the team, Steve was relatively chattier and friendlier. Kevin had talked several times with the man, and he heaved a sigh of relief when he heard the information that the man was still alive.

"It's okay, Kris. It's not your fault that they died. You have been treating them so well, so it's no wonder that they were willing to sacrifice themselves to guard our place. It's indeed a sad incident, but you shouldn't blame yourself for the misfortune, alright?"

Kris didn't even say that he felt guilty, but Kevin could read his lover's mind so well tonight. Even though Kris didn't say anything, Kevin knew the reason why Kris looked so restless tonight.

"They indeed had sacrificed themselves for me, but their sacrifice couldn't even pay for another important thing, Kevin."

This time, Kevin couldn't easily understand what his lover meant, and he tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean, Kris? The robbers managed to enter our apartment? Did those robbers steal any valuable things from our apartment, Kris?"

Kevin had a hunch that the thing that was stolen by the robbers was not simple. If it was just a mere expensive object, then Kris wouldn't feel this bad because Kris didn't really care about money.

The thought made Kevin feel nervous. Something bad would be coming soon. He was certain about that.

"Those robbers managed to take AZURE away from us, Kevin."
