The Blue Eyes

Chapter 231 - I'M NOT DEAF

Screams rang out, and people automatically ducked down while holding their heads. Panicked shrieks were heard, and even the children began to cry, adding to the eerie atmosphere in the courtyard.

Kevin and Kris were still on the stage, and in their panicked states, they still managed to monitor the situation around the yard to make sure that no one got hurt. And they could heave a sigh of relief when they saw that everyone was unharmed.

Unfortunately, the gunshots greeted their sense of hearings again, and all people screamed again. They all panicked, but both Kris and Kevin tried to handle the situation with cool minds.

"Jack! Blue! Bring all people to enter the building and protect them from inside the building! Don't go outside before I tell you to do so!" Kris immediately shouted at the two people as he realized that it was not safe for the innocent people to stay outside the building.

Kris knew that the four of them didn't have supernatural powers anymore, but he still ordered Blue and Jack by instinct.

Jack and Blue looked a bit hesitant, but then they started to evacuate the people to enter the orphanage building.

There were only Kevin and Kris in front of the building now, and they kept hearing the gunshots.

"Go to the building too, Kev! I'll try to check who ruined my party!"

Kris gritted his teeth as he ordered his fiance. The gunshots were coming from the front gate of the orphanage, and Kris had the feeling that the attackers were outside the gate. He had to go to them and give them some lessons.

He was about to run toward the front gate, but Kevin suddenly held his arm. "I will go with you," the raven-haired man stated sternly.

Kris was about to argue, but when he saw the familiar blue eyes glaring at him dangerously, he had no other choice than to nod his head.

"Just follow me behind my body and don't do anything reckless."

It was Kevin's turn to nod his head, and both of them started heading to the front gate.

They didn't know whether they should call them lucky or unlucky, but the gunshots suddenly stopped as if the culprits knew that the two people were heading to them now.

Kris knew that the culprits probably wanted to run away, and he immediately increased his running speed as he kept Kevin behind his big body.

When they arrived at the front gate, they could see a black car speeding to leave the orphanage area. They couldn't even see the license number, and Kris groaned in frustration while using his fist to hit the iron gate.

"Don't hurt yourself, Kris. It's not your fault that they managed to escape. We are still lucky because no one was hurt."

Kris took a deep breath before turning to Kevin. "They just shot the guns randomly, and we are indeed lucky because no one was hurt."

Kris looked panicked. It was a special birthday party for him, but there was an attack that came out of nowhere. The sudden attack didn't only surprise the innocent people, but it surprised him as well.

"Did they manage to run away, Kris?"

The two men could hear the sound of an intruder, and when they looked back, they found Jack and the other adults walking briskly toward them. Kris frowned upon seeing the appearance of the blonde and the others near the gate.

"Why did you leave the building? Didn't I tell you to wait inside the building?" Kris questioned the blonde in an angry tone.

His emotions were not stable because of the incident earlier, and when his eyes caught the sight of the adults coming out of the orphanage building, he was enraged once again.

Kevin understood his fiance's condition, and he immediately grabbed his fiance's hand to calm him down.

"Jack must be observing the situation before he decided to come out, Kris," The raven-haired male tried to comfort his fiance. "Let's go inside to discuss this matter, alright? At least we all are safe now."

Kris scowled at Kevin, but when he realized that the latter was right, he sighed heavily before nodding his head. "Alright. Let's go inside first."

Other people didn't dare to argue and silently agreed with Kris's decision. They were about to leave the front gate, but then their ears could hear the sound of a car approaching the gate.

Everyone went back on guard as they were worried that the attackers would return to continue their attack.

But then Julia squinted her eyes, and she immediately calmed the tension, "It's not the attacker. It's Mrs. Hasler!"

The silver sedan stopped in front of the closed gate, and an elegant lady stepped out of the car. She was indeed Grace Hasler. The people behind the gate looked confused when they saw the lady's sudden appearance.

However, the Lowell couple's expression could be described as hatred more than a surprise.

Grace Hasler gracefully walked towards the gate and stopped walking right in front of the tall gate. "Was anyone injured from the attack?"

Even though there was a gate that separated the lady from the other people, she immediately asked the question without any pleasantries. The question was enough to startle the people behind the gate.

"How come you know that there was an attack here earlier?" Kris was the one who questioned the fierce lady.

It was indeed strange. Grace Hasler had come uninvited, and she immediately inquired about what had happened. Kris and Kevin hadn't even called the police to report the incident, so why did the head of the Intelligence Service suddenly appear?

"I happened to be around here when I heard the gunshots. You all know I'm not deaf, right?"

The lady was still so arrogant and didn't look nervous at all, but both Kevin and Kris didn't let their guard down.

"Are you the one who orchestrated those people to attack us?" Kevin's unexpected question surprised all people in front of the orphanage.
