The Blue Eyes

Chapter 96 - [FLASHBACK 4] THE FIRST MEGA-PROJECT

March 2021.

It had been two months since the war started, but there was no sign that the war would end anytime soon.

Werewolves army scattered around the world. They were armed with sophisticated weapons, and they weren't easily defeated by the human army.

The world was in chaos, and Selena felt even more guilty when she saw the news of the war on the television in the laboratory. Her expression was completely different from Joseph's expression.

"When will you stop this war, Jos? It's been two months, and there are so many casualties in the world. Don't you feel bad for them, Jos?"

Joseph turned his head to Selena and smirked at her. "It's just the beginning, Sel," he said.

Selena frowned at the statement. "What do you mean by it's just the beginning?" She asked curiously.

Joseph didn't immediately answer the question as he sat on the chair. "Don't you remember when I told you about my mega-project two months ago?"

Selena's heart thumped faster when she heard Joseph's question. She remembered the moment when Joseph told her about a mega-project two months ago. Her husband didn't give her the details about the project, though. So, it wasn't her fault that she had no clue about her husband's plan.

Sensing that his wife was clueless, Joseph then moved his hand to the keyboard on his desk.

"Come here and look at the monitor, Sel," Joseph instructed his wife.

Selena complied with the order and walked closer to Joseph. She then bent down a little to look at the monitor.

"It's my mega-project," Joseph announced proudly. "I'm preparing a formula to create the strongest werewolf, Sel. I've written down my plan here, and the formula will be ready in December this year."

Selena was surprised to hear Joseph's statement. Her eyes stared blankly at the monitor on Joseph's desk.

She had never known that her husband had been preparing for a new formula behind her back. Selena was nervous. Her husband was very dangerous.

"I predict that the formula will be completed on December 10 this year, so I will give it a code BLUE10122021."

Selena straightened her back again and looked down at her husband. "Why do you call the project BLUE?"

Joseph smiled faintly before moving his hand on the mouse. The monitor showed a different file now.

"The new formula is blue in color. That's why I call it BLUE."

Selena shook her head in disbelief. Her husband had been preparing for the mega-project so well. The plan that had been written on the computer was so detailed and was ready to be executed.

"Anyway, I need your help with this project, Sel."

Her husband still dared to ask for help from her, and Selena was speechless.

"I need a newborn baby for this project. The baby must be born in December so that we can use the baby right away."

'Can use the baby right away, he said?' Selena wondered inwardly.

In Joseph's eyes, a human baby was like an object that he could use anytime he wanted. Selena felt like crying. Why did her husband become a heartless creature like this?

"Why do you need a newborn baby for your project?" Selena finally asked.

Even though she was totally against the idea, but she still wanted to know Joseph's reason for wanting a newborn baby for his project.

"A newborn baby will be easier to control," Joseph answered casually. "Besides, a newborn's body is also easier to manipulate. The formula will blend to the body perfectly if we use a newborn baby."

Selena clenched her hands into fists secretly. Joseph just wanted to control humans, so it wasn't surprising that he wanted to control the baby as well.

But, it was a newborn baby, for God's sake! How could they take advantage of a newborn baby? How could they turn a newborn baby into the strongest werewolf? That was too cruel!

"I can't help you with that, Jos. If you need a baby, then you should find the baby yourself."

Selena had made a resolute decision. She wouldn't be willing to help her husband now.

"You don't want to help me?" Joseph asked while raising one of his eyebrows. "Then, I will—

"Oh! You're pregnant now?"

Their conversation was interrupted by someone's voice from outside the secret room.

Selena's body froze. Who the hell was talking about pregnancy when they were just discussing a baby?

She glanced at her husband and found that her husband was listening to the conversation earnestly.

"Yes. I'm in my fourth-week pregnancy now. I'm so happy with it!"

Selena recognized the voice. That was Nancy Allaband's voice!

What kind of coincidence is it? Why did it have to be an Allaband who was talking about her pregnancy?

Selena once again peeked at her husband and found how her husband smiled broadly when he heard the conversation. She could easily read what's on her husband's mind now. She could guess what her husband was planning in his head.

"Don't you dare to touch Nancy, Jos," Selena warned the man while gritting her teeth.

Joseph turned to her and stared at her lightly. "So what if I touch Nancy?" He asked carelessly. "I've complied with your wish by letting her father alive, but I won't listen to you anymore now. I'll use Nancy's child as a host for my blue formula."

"Joseph Beischel! You've ruined the Allaband family! You've killed them, and you've also turned Mike into a werewolf! Aren't you satisfied with all of that?"

Selena was so desperate now. Her teary eyes stared at her husband, hoping that her husband would give her some mercy by letting go of the pregnant lady.

Nancy Allaband was one of the scientists under Orka. She was so beautiful with her long black hair and fair skin. She was so nice to everyone, including to her and Joseph. She didn't want to hurt her at all. She would try to protect the innocent girl with all her might.

"I want to annihilate the whole Allabands, Sel."

Selena's heart dropped into the deepest trench when she heard her husband's statement.

"Why do you want to do that, Jos? You've killed your foster parents, and—"

"They are not my foster parents!"

Selena was taken aback when her husband suddenly cut her speech harshly. Joseph got up from his seat and glared at her dangerously. His index finger pointed at her face.

"They're not my foster parents! They threw me away like garbage. They don't deserve to be my foster parents!"

After he finished speaking, Joseph immediately left the secret room. Selena's body felt limp as she dropped her body to one of the chairs.

She didn't expect that everything would be this complicated. She couldn't even guess what's on her husband's mind. She had to find a way to intervene in her husband's nasty plan.

Selena was frustrated, and she flinched when her phone inside her laboratory coat suddenly vibrated. She fished out the phone and looked at the screen. She beamed when she saw her son's name on the screen. She hurriedly answered the call.

"Yes, my darling?"

"Mooooooom~"

Selena chuckled when she heard how her son whining cutely.

"What's wrong, Kev? Do you need anything?"

She could hear her son huffed before answering, "When will you come back home, Mom? I'm bored at home, and I'm scared to go outside."

"I'll come back home soon, Kev. Don't go anywhere and stay safe at home, alright?"

Selena couldn't help but feel worried about her son's safety. The situation outside was too dangerous, and she was worried that her son would go outside when she wasn't home.

She and her husband had hired a nanny for Kevin, but sometimes her son was too stubborn to listen to other people's words.

"Mom," her son called her out again, and she went back to him. "When will the war end? I want to play outside! I haven't seen Kiss for two months, and I miss him already!"

Selena chuckled again. Kiss. The name wasn't really Kiss, but it was actually Kris. It was funny that Kevin knew the caramel-haired boy as Kiss instead of Kris.

Kris was Mike's son. Selena had known the boy even before Kevin introduced the two of them. She was glad that Kevin could be friends with the boy. Kris looked a bit gloomy for kids his age, and Kevin's existence could bring a little light to the boy's dark life.

"You'll meet Kiss again, Kev. I'll bring him to you after the war ends."

"But, when will the war end, Mom? It's so scary! I watched on TV that so many people died. Can you save the people, Mom? Can you make the war end soon?"

Selena's heart experienced a painful pinch when she heard her son's innocent questions. They were just innocent questions, but they hit straight to her heart. Without realizing it, a tear dropped from Selena's left eye. At that moment, she glimpsed at Joseph's monitor and found an idea.

"I'll save the people, Kev. And the war will end soon. I promise you."
