The Dawn of the New World

Chapter 1059 - Me And Me

"Y-Yes," despite some obvious reservations Eurig agreed immediately because the situation was already strange enough.

He kept glancing at Arnett because the boy was completely knocked out and yet this 'chosen one' could still hear him?

As they walked out into the corridor Hao Xuan paused for a moment and said, "Bring Wern and the other guy too."

Eurig didn't know either of their names but he correctly assumed Hao Xuan meant the only two other 'humans' in there.

"Yes," he went back in and with no small amount of hesitation picked both of them up in one arm each before looking towards the brute and masked demons.

"You all stay here for now, I will call for you when I figure out a few things."

When he went out Hao Xuan was halfway up the stairs. The last demonic blob that was blocking the exit had already been turned into a puddle of black liquid which gave Eurig an uneasy feeling.

Those blobs might not be very powerful but they were near indestructible. One needed to destroy every last drop of goo their bodies were made off to actually kill them which was what Wern did by unleashing all of his Qi at once.

But in his eyes, Hao Xuan had just killed two of them by randomly 'punching them'. Even he couldn't see the spectral bones floating inside their bodies.

'Even though they were mere foot soldiers I still need to tell him to stop killing the servants of the savior. Does he not realize what he is doing?'

He caught up to Hao Xuan as they navigated the many interconnected hallways of the building. The closer they go to the exit the noisier it became.

Blaring screams were coming from all around mixed with the non-stop yelling and shouting as people ran around in a panic.

But all that noise couldn't reach Hao Xuan's ears. What he was seeing around him was much different than what the others saw.

In his eyes, instead of an intact building they were walking through old ruins. He could feel the cold air brushing against his face and see numerous shadowy figures staring at him from every corner.

When they finally exited the building Hao Xuan couldn't help but gasp lightly under his breath. There were hundreds more of them blocking the view. The entire street, every roof of every nearby building was covered by these figures.

And they were all looking right at him. He could see their lips moving as they mumbled something but he couldn't make out what it was. Still, with these thousands of voices overlapping with one another it got loud enough to drown out most other sounds.

Hao Xuan took in a deep breath and focused his mind, "Hey…do you see them?"

Eurig looked around but other than a few people running by from the corner of the street there was nobody else in sight.

"See…who?"

"You don't hear them either?"

"No…?"

"So it's just me then. Go, lead the way."

"Yes," even more confused than before, Eurig obliged and walked ahead of him.

Hao Xuan paid close attention to him as Eurig went up to the figures before passing through them as if they weren't even there. Seeing as nothing happened to him Hao Xuan took in a deep breath and did the same, pretending not to see the figures.

Unfortunately, that did not help whatsoever because the moment he came into contact with the first few figures they entered his body and disappeared.

He grimaced from the waves of pain that were closely followed by a string of memories. Memories that weren't his but still he experienced them as if they were.

In just a couple of seconds he was able to go through the entire lifetimes of several individuals, from the moment they were born till they met their untimely demise.

Hao Xuan stepped back as a burning sensation spread out from both his eyes and went towards his brain. A most unwelcome feeling.

"Baracus, what are these figures? Can you see them?"

*Beep*

"Positive. Three humanoid males approximately 8 meters ahead."

"NO- not them. The thousands of others standing all around."

"Negative. Sensors do not pick up any physical entities within a radius of 30 meters."

"Wait, how did I get here in the first place?"

Only now did he realize the extreme oddity of the situation. The world started to spin as small fragments came flooding back.

"I was at…the- dream. I was dreaming, I remember now. I went to see the grand priestess and then-"

*WOOSH*

He tried to recall and the memories came back.

"Keuk!"

One poorly lived lifetime after another he started to remember them and as he did, the faces of all the shadowy figures suddenly became clear. They were him.. He had lived as each one of them through their births to every dreadful end.
