The Dawn of the New World

1282 Remembering the Past

Hao Xuan's pupils contracted as light returned to them for this one final battle. He gathered every morsel of Chaos Energy and channeled it towards the back, towards the only spot still untouched by the creature's paralyzing powers.

'Wrath of...Deimos!'

An audible gurgling sound could be heard from his body as the demonic ability greedily absorbed every fraction of internal energy in one go.

For a very brief moment the silhouette of a gargantuan twisted figure materialized in the skies above but it evaporated with the sudden appearance of six fiendish arms that cut through the flesh on his back.

It was extremely painful but not nearly as much as what the creature felt a moment later when all six arms grabbed its head.

The strength of each individual arm was equivalent to whatever Hao Xuan could muster at his very best, which was excruciatingly dominating, to say the least. In physique alone he had surpassed the strength of any normal profound Realm cultivator so it couldn't last for too long when six of those arms were pulling at its head from both sides.

*Screeeeech*

A high-pitched scream which was the culmination of tens of thousands of fleshy strings tearing apart at once echoed in the darkness. It tried to struggle but since most of its internal energy was already exhausted there wasn't much it could do.

The summoned arms dug into the creature's head and pulled it apart straight down the middle. The countless other strings that were burrowing inside Hao Xuan's flesh were also forced to retreat when the damage to the main body exceeded what it could handle.

It vomited Hao Xuan back into the world while still being covered in acidic paralyzing agents from head to toe.

*GAAASP*

Hao Xuan breathed a breath of fresh air after what felt like years while his body reeled from the pain, but his gaze remained locked on the beast. It was pulling itself away trying to retreat into the shadows and he knew that if it got away there was no way he could find it again.

So despite being in a precarious situation himself he gave killing the creature a higher priority, even above his own safety. He could barely stand upright so giving chase was out of the question.

Fortunately, [Wrath of Deimos] still had some juice left.

Hao Xuan sent two of the six summoned arms shooting into the rocky surface to lift himself up into the air to move forward. The other four arms reached out to quickly grab a hold of the creature's legs slithering legs.

It clawed, hissed, and spat poison at him but the arms blocked it. It was still putting up a fight after everything it had done to Hao Xuan which made him even angrier.

"How dare...you...fight...back...!"

He picked the creature up by its legs and began to rip the scales off by the handfuls. It let out high-pitched shrieks of agony but they only made him more viciously cruel and adamant in his endeavor.

Soon Hao Xuan was lost in the barbaric act and when he came to only the main body was left somewhat intact. It quivered and trembled at the slightest touch but now it wasn't even able to run away.

Two of the arms picked up the beast and held it up in front of his face.

"How does that...feel? Not much different from...what I felt...I reckon. You should have...killed me quickly. A mistake I won't dare make...with you."

His left arm rose the very next moment, [Devour!]

*SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH*

It mustered all its remaining strength in a hail mary to launch a sound attack but its body was swiftly rolled up into a small ball and absorbed in its entirety seconds later.

Hao Xuan closed his eyes to feel the depleted Chaos Energy return in spades, merrily running free through his meridians. His wounds were beginning to heal and he could already move on his own.

*Clang*

But the sound of something heavy hitting the ground quickly brought him back to reality.

Hao Xuan looked down to see a 6-inch wide black glass Orb rolling on the ground. He bent down to pick it up and immediately felt an intense reaction.

It was ice cold and gave off intense energy readings which reminded him of Nidhora.

"This is a...core? The core of a Shadow Beast?"

Without waiting for anything else to go wrong Hao Xuan quickly separated a few threads of Spiritual Sense and sent them tunneling deep into the orb.

The experience was almost identical to what he had gone through when opening the demonic core with the only difference being that this was filled with cold Ying energy instead.

'It's there! I can feel something swimming deep inside-"
