The Dawn of the New World

1308 Divine Regenration

Feng Huang was obviously surprised to see Hao Xuan appear out of nowhere but not enough to react in any other way. Instead, he looked around in confusion, "You are here alone?"

Hao Xuan wiped the blood off his face before getting back to his feet.

"Let them go. I'll answer all the questions you ha-"

"Usually when you humans come to face me there are a few more with you. This is the first time a 'hero' has appeared alone."

Hao Xuan went silent, pondering the meaning of his words.

"A hero? You have done this before?"

"I have," Feng Huang nodded openly, "The place where I come from, every few decades some humans show up on a quest to kill the great demon that resides in their mountains. It's always the same thing but they all die a meaningless death and then a generation later the new party shows up. But that won't be the case this time. This matter has nothing to do with you, leave here to live another day."

Hao Xuan ground his teeth listening to him talk so casually in this situation but there wasn't anything else he could do.

He had tried to kill him in every which way possible but the creature standing across from him was unlike any he had come across before. Feng Huang had the bloodline of a great divine beast and only another power rivaling it could strike him down.

All of Hao Xuan's most powerful abilities were useless against him. Either they simply did not work against such a powerful being or even when a few did he could recover almost instantaneously.

'He has the ancient Phoenix bloodline running through his veins. Even if I manage to land a fatal blow he can easily recover with his regenerative ability. Not to mention his other form where he transforms into a real phoenix and becomes immune to all damage below his realm.'

Hao Xuan had seen it himself just now. One look was enough to burn him from the inside out. He let out a deep breath and focused on the task at hand, 'There has to be a way.'

"Feng Huang, listen to me. She is not a threat to you or anyone else. If you harm her in any way then I promise you it will not end the way you think."

He frowned lightly, "I am confused. Is this threat coming from you? Because we both know you are not capable of harming me in any way."

Hao Xuan chuckled, "Did you not look into her heritage before coming after her?"

He paused to make sure that Ma Jiang could not hear him before continuing, "She is the granddaughter of the current Elven King and two of her uncles are already nearby. I was actually sent here by one of them. So be very careful about what you do next, even if you are a divine beast, do you really think you can survive when every single elf is coming after your head?"

Feng Huang's brow began to furrow, "Is this true?" he suddenly turned towards the bubble.

Ma Jiang opened her eyes halfway, "It is."

"!!!"

'Damnit, she could hear everything! Wait, she already knew that?'

She turned towards Hao Xuan, "Oppa, did you hear back from Uncle Ryfon...yet? He said he would come soon."

Hao Xuan's face fell, 'They already talked? But she doesn't know that the ship is destroyed and Ryfon is either dead or missing. It's better to hide that for now.'

"Yeah, I talked to him. He said is coming very soon, a few hours and he will be her-"

"Liar," Feng Huang cut in, "That was the first lie you have told. He is not coming, is he? No one is," he turned towards Ma Jiang with half a smile, "See? I told you this was only going to end one way. No one is coming to save you."

"Don't listen to him he is ly-" Hao Xuan tried to interject but Feng Huang casually waved his hand to shoot out a giant fireball.

Hao Xuan swung the sword trying to cut it in half but it melted even before coming into contact with the fireball. It impacted against Hao Xuan's chest and engulfed him entirely.

The barrier of Chaos Qi surrounding him was being eaten through at an unprecedented speed and no matter how much Hao Xuan tried to contain it the flame would just burn through everything.

It was feeding on his Qi and becoming stronger and stronger.

Seeing him on the verge of being burned alive Ma Jiang finally cracked, "NO! Stop it, please! I'll do it, just don't hurt anyone else."

She muttered an incantation and the bubble popped like it wasn't even there.

Feng Huang snapped his fingers and the fire was immediately put out.

"You should have done this sooner. It was always going to be this way. This is your fate now," he muttered casually, expressionless at his victory.
