When Luo Tianyuan walked out of the kitchen with instant noodles in hand, Luo Shuyan was already back in her room. She turned off the light but she couldn’t fall asleep as she lay in bed. Thoughts were racing through her mind. When Shen Yan first told her about his suspicions, she didn’t believe him entirely. She couldn’t believe that her family were considered new money.

Just as she had calmed down and gathered her thoughts,, she happened to hear her father conversing with his friend.

Shen Yan’s predictions were correct. What did her father say again? He’s investing a million in someone’s company? And he also bought a bungalow in Jing City? This was solid evidence that he was new money, and that made her new money too!

When she thought about the fact that her father was wealthy, and that made her new money, Luo Shuyan couldn’t keep calm at all.

She tossed and turned in bed until 2AM.

The next day, she appeared in front of her father with heavy eye bags. Her anxiousness and excitement had subsided overnight.

Luo Tianyuan noticed his daughter’s noticeably tired look. He asked, concerned, “Are you not feeling well?”

Luo Shuyan bluffed and said, “I didn’t manage to sleep well, so I’m a bit tired.”

“If that’s the case…” Luo Tianyuan was not a strict father. His first reaction towards his daughter’s question was to say, “It’s alright, I think you can skip school for a day. You can rest at home, so should I let your class teacher know?”

During the era where her peers had to fake sickness to skip class, Luo Shuyan’s father already allowed her to skip class after a poor night’s sleep.

In Luo Tianyun’s opinion, his daughter was the only relative he had left on earth. Majority of the motivation for him to work came from his daughter. Thus, as a father, he tried his best to meet all the needs of his daughter.

In regards to whether his daughter’s grades were any good, he didn’t seem to care much about it. In his opinion, he was content as long as his daughter was mentally and physically healthy.t.

“There’s no need,” Luo Shuyan said.

She could understand everything in class, so it didn’t matter if she were to skip a day of class. However, staying at home alone was quite boring.

Luo Tianyuan looked at her worriedly. “Is your bed uncomfortable? Should I buy you a new Simmons mattress?”

Was this how the rich lived?

Luo Shuyan instinctively held onto her own sleeve. She felt as if she was dreaming. She held herself back and shook her head. “There’s no need, I’m comfortable with the current mattress.”

His suggestion was promptly turned down. “Alright.” Luo Tianyuan gently caressed Luo Shuyan’s head and said, “Go ahead and wash up, I’ll fetch you and Shen Yan to school.”

Luo Shuyan’s eyelashes fluttered when she heard that he was “fetching” her to school — in a car.

She promptly washed up and went to her neighbor’s to have breakfast, before heading downstairs with Shen Yan.

Luo Tianyuan was waiting for them in the car.

The school was very near their neighborhood. It only took 10 minutes by foot, and it was even faster by car. After Luo Tianyuan dropped them off, Luo Shuyan tugged the straps of her school bag and hurriedly told Shen Yan, “Shen Yan, you’re a psychic! You were right after all!.”

She didn’t dare to talk too loudly. When she recalled what he had said on the train, she looked around and asked in a small voice, “I don’t think I’m being very loud, am I?”

Shen Yan glanced at her and said, “It’s just nice.”

“That’s good.” Luo Shuyan’s voice was soft, but she looked very excited, as if she’d won some sort of huge prize. “Yesterday when I woke up, I heard my dad on the phone with someone. Turns out, my dad really is the one who’s planning to buy the bungalow!”

Shen Yan looked calm as he said, “You didn’t believe me when I said it back then.”

“If it weren’t my dad himself who mentioned that, how would I dare believe in such an unimaginable thing? Shen Yan, what do you think? Do you think my dad is considered a wealthy man?”

“It depends.”

“What do you mean?”

“In Ning City, of course. But I’m not sure if he’d be considered rich in Jing City.”

Luo Shuyan was still delighted. “Then, do you think I’m considered ‘new money’?”

“…”

He couldn’t understand why Luo Shuyan was excited.

And what was so exciting about being “new money” anyway?

Luo Shuyan asked, “So, do you think I am?”

Shen Yan didn’t want to get into a quarrel with her on school grounds. This would cause others to laugh at them. He lied through his teeth and said, “I guess so.”

Luo Shuyan immediately became happier. After a moment of happiness, she recalled something important. She reminded him in a serious tone, “You better not tell others about this, this is my family secret. My father wasn’t willing to say anything, and I’m sure he has his reasons. I’m talking to you about this because I believe you, so you better not ruin my trust.”

Shen Yan looked at her in disgust. “I’m not a gossiper!”

“You can’t let Aunty Shen know about it either.”

“…”

“Keep this between you, me, and God, got it?”

Shen Yan walked fast and clearly had no intention of furthering the conversation. “Don’t worry, I’m not that free.”

Even though Shen Yan was still a young kid, Luo Shuyan already had a lot of trust in him. He was someone who kept his word.

“Can you address me as Miss Luo from now on?”

Shen Yan looked at her like he was looking at a retard. “Are you stupid?’

Luo Shuyan also thought that she was being dumb. She had been pretty smart before this.

Is she also part of the population who’d gone mad after becoming rich?

For the rest of the day, Luo Shuyan had been very excited. When she thought about the car at home and her bungalow in the outskirts of Jing City, she couldn’t help but smile. Even her classmates realized that something was off with their class monitor; something great must’ve happened to her, she even took the initiative to clean the black board.

She remained in high spirits until the end of the school day.
