The Moon Thief

Chapter 4: Farewell

Lavs told his old friend Luian about his grandson's achievements in Potion Brewing. At first, Luian was not so sure that he was able to make the most difficult potions among the basic potions such as Constitution Potion and Low Level Healing Potion in such a short time. However, after seeing Lavs was serious, he realized that this was not some kind of joke, and he was shocked.

Was Heinald a genius?

"Lavs, you know I'm working for the Rinemoth Family. If Heinald and you want to, I can introduce him to the family leader. I'm sure he won't want to miss such a talent. The family's leader, Marcus Rinemoth, became a Level 2 Ainsar nearly 100 years ago, in the current situation maybe even close to being a Level 3 Ainsar. He leads a strong family. If Heinald can influence him, he can get plenty of resources."

Luian made his suggestion. He had been working for the Rinemoth Family for quite some time and was a prominent member of the family. If Heinald did good deeds, Marcus Rinemoth would reward him generously. Many Ainsars worked under the Ainsar Families, conducting research and studies in many areas such as Potion Brewing, Medicines, Spells, Herbs, Curses etc.

Of course, all of them chose the field to work in based on their skills. An Ainsar with the ability to brew potions was naturally working in the field of Potion Brewing.

"Actually, I wanted to talk to you about this. Heinald is a talented young man and it would be a waste of time for him to stay with me now. If he makes a good deal with the Rinemoth Family, he can really get good resources." Lavs began to play with his long beard, looking thoughtful, and after a few seconds of silence he turned to Heinald.

"What do you think about this?"

"I agree. Even though I am bad at Potion Brewing, what I really want is to be a strong Ainsar. Of course, I will try to improve myself in Potion Brewing, but getting stronger as an Ainsar will be my top priority. I cannot do this without resources." Heinald knew that he had to open up to the outside world now. There was no point in spending more time in this desolate part of the world. From his grandfather and books he knew that an Ainsar needed abundant resources to grow stronger.

Spells, Magical Treasures, Potions, Sacred Herbs, Potions, and more. Even ordinary knowledge of magic was important to an Ainsar and could be regarded as a resource. The rare information about magic was the most important source, as it could lead to great changes and enlightenments on an Ainsar's path. All of these resources were in the hands of the powerful Ainsar families, so Heinald now had to open up to the outside world and officially take the path of an Ainsar.

"Alright, then start making your preparations. In a few days, we will set out with you. We will go to the Southstorm Kingdom. It won't be a short journey." Luian shook his head.

Next few days, Heinald packed up the things he would take with him and spent time with his grandfather. He predicted that he wouldn't be able to see him for a long time. After all, his destination was not very close to the Meitharian Zone, and he would have various responsibilities if he could make a deal with the Rinemoth Family, he might not have much free time.

"Heinald, take this. This is my only and most precious treasure from my past days. Long time ago, I had to pay a huge price to get it but I no longer need it." Lavs came to his grandson with a robe in his hand.

"Is this an Ainsar robe?" Heinald asked excitedly. The robe was black and tall, with bright blue motions on it. These robes were specially made for Ainsars, through their durability, they protected their owners against various dangers.

"Yes, but the main feature of this robe is not its durability. The main feature of this robe is its pockets." Lavs, pointed to the robe with his eyes.

"Pockets?"

"Yes. This robe is actually a Magical Treasure. Its pockets can store hundreds of items." Lavs smiled.

"What!!" Heinald's eyes were wide open.

"Hehehehe ..." Lavs laughed at his grandson's reaction. "A complex dimensional formation or concepts must have been used in the making of this robe. Of course I have no understanding of how it was made. But wealthy Ainsars all have such similar treasures. The value of this robe is estimated to be several thousand Arkana Stones."

"What? A few thousand Arkana Stones?" Heinald's mouth was left open. The Ainsars used to trade Arkana Stones among themselves, and thousands of Arkana Stones were a huge number. Every 1000 Arkana Stones were worth 1 Crystallized Arkana Stone and every 100,000 Arkana Stones were worth 1 Singularized Arkana Stone.

"Send your magic energy to the robe," Lavs pointed to the robe.

When Heinald did what his grandfather said, a dimension appeared in his mind. Inside the dimension there were 300 Arkana Stones.

"Arkana Stones and books?"

"Yes. These are what I've managed to save with potions I've made all this time. You know, I could normally earn a lot more, but we're not in a place where Ainsars are common. The books contain contents of two Middle Rank spells that I know. Remember, try to learn these spells only when you become Level 1 Ainsar. These books will show you in detail how spells are cast." Lavs looked at his grandson and smiled.

"Thank you, grandfather. For everything." Heinald hugged Lavs.

"I trust you, my grandson. I am sure that you will accomplish great things. Remember, this world is a world where the strong is right. Everything you do to get stronger is permissible. In some cases, if you need to suppress your conscience, do it without hesitation." Lavs gave his grandson one last piece of advice.

"I'll remember what you said, grandfather."

After a while, Heinald and Luian said goodbye to Lavs. They were traveling in a horse carriage,so they were travelling slowly. However,at least they could easily carry their loads. After reaching the northernmost part of the Meitharian, they would cross the Reda Plains. Later, they would cross the Geros Mountain Range.

Their journey up to the Geros Mountain range passed very calmly. The journey took about 15 days and they did not have a shortage of accommodation since they were traveling by horse carriage. During the journey, Heinald often dreamed of what he would do next, and asked Luian a variety of questions that came to his mind. In order to cross the Geros Range, they had to cross the Obelisk Pass. However, they stopped in Erks Town, a small town at the foot of the Mountain Range.

"

Why did we stop?" Heinald asked.

"We will pass through the Obelisk Pass to cross the Geros Mountain Range. The roads to the pass are curved and narrow, we cannot survive if we fall down from that high. It gets dark, it will be safer to continue our travely during the daylight." Luian shook his head.

They found a tavern called Genatrovy and went inside. It wasn't very big inside, but it was still not small. It had a very quiet atmosphere compared to other town taverns. The people around sipping their drinks were talking quietly among themselves. The surroundings were lit by candlesticks hanging from the ceiling and walls of the tavern. A middle-aged man was strumming his guitar by the fireplace.

"Interesting. Usually taverns don't have such a calm atmosphere. There's often quarrels, noise, and laughter." Heinald was looking around.

"This town has many myths because it is close to the mountain range." Luian smiled.

"What do you mean?" Heinald frowned.

"The mountain ranges are not very safe, some people get lost trying to reach the pass and cannot be found again. People here believe that some monsters in the mountains kidnap their friends." Luian made a hand gesture to the innkeeper across.

"What would you get, masters?" A skinny man approached with a slight smile,he was the innkeeper.

"We want two Horey Roms." Luian ordered, the innkeeper nodded and left.

"But are there really monsters in the Mountain Range?" Heinald asked.

"There are various creatures all over the world, son. Some are harmless and some are extremely deadly. The Geros Mountain Range is not an exception either. These people are not people who know much about Ainsars and magic. To the people who live here, even the Ainsars are a legend."

Luian finished when he saw the innkeeper coming, he left two Horey Roms in front of them and left.

"Have you ever drunk Horey Rom?" asked Luian.

"No, my grandfather would usually make Whiterose Wine and Gurnbeg Beer." Heinald shook his head.

"Heh ... Old Lavs is good at brewing.Though, for someone who can brew potions, this is a piece of cake." Luian smiled.

"Master Luian, my grandfather doesn't want me to know this, but there is a question I'm wondering. Do you know what happened to my mother and father?" Heinald asked after a long silence. He had asked his grandfather several times before, but had not received an answer.
