Unlucky?Player

Chapter 200: I urge you....Arise.

'I'm sorry buddy...I shouldn't have gotten you into this mess.....I enjoyed the time we had. Truly. You were never a burden, even though I know there were times where you felt like you were. It's amusing how you're the unluckiest man alive and yet somehow you manage to turn the situations in your favor. Haha, I wonder how many times you would've fallen while running towards me. Do you see it? The gap between us...'

In Nate's mind, he envisioned a narrow stretch of land where he sat on a chair with only his body and legs bound. He stretched his hand out in front, it seemed as if he was reaching for something, but no matter how much he tried, he could never reach it. On the other end of this land, was Luke. He had a desperate look on his face, he stretched out his hand and stumbled down. However, he never gave up. No matter what, no matter how many times he was thrown down, he never stopped, but what use was it if he could never reach Nate's hand?

"I'm close!" Luke exclaimed as he looked at the location. After comparing the map and his surroundings, he knew for a fact that Nate, his best friend was kept in the giant abandoned warehouse. It was slightly offputting to see an abandoned warehouse randomly, and it was even more so because it had been in such a way for the past few years. Why wouldn't anyone buy it off? Or put it to good use?

Once he stopped right outside the walls of the structure, he saw tire tracks go inside, confirming his thoughts that Nate was held here. There were whispers and footsteps, it seemed as if the people inside had no intention of hiding or being stealthy.

"There's a lot....." Luke said as he patiently listened to the footsteps. He eyed his surroundings until he found a ledge to climb onto. It was his only other option, and going straight through the main entrance could work but it would be dangerous if they had weapons.

"Heup!" Luke jumped and grabbed onto the ledge, using that he pulled himself up and continued walking all along the wall. The barbed wires hid him well, although not completely. Besides, nobody would expect someone to hide behind the wires, it was absurd, just the fact that he hadn't lost balance yet was surprising. "I knew it. Silenced pistols.....they came prepared, interesting," he looked as guards dressed in all black suits patrolled the area. They were constantly on the move and didn't stop for a single second.

'Now how do I go about this....' he thought as he looked down. Even if he could pull off the inhumane action that is dodging a bullet, too many of them was troublesome. However, just as his thoughts ran amok, there was a loud crashing sound.

It was the main steel gate that was completely broken down by a van that came rushing in. Just behind it two black SUVs also followed. It was clear that these guys weren't allies and were here for some other reason. Not that it mattered to Luke, who was more than ecstatic about such a thing, since this was the opportunity he needed.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Luke jumped down once the guards had all rushed towards the main entrance. He crouched and moved forward, blending in with all the fighting. It seemed as if the main theme for the day was silenced pistols, even the new group that showed up had silenced pistols.

"Sneaky bastards," Luke commented as he snuck past the open area and moved into the inner area. He could see more guards here, they were all discussing whether they should go and assist the others outside. After careful consideration, the guards decided to split off into two halfs. One would go assist the others outside, while the other half would go and reinforce the defense on the inside.

He watched them carefully and made sure not to give away his position. Luke simply had to follow the second group and they would lead him to the inner region, which was most likely where his friend was held.

He could only barely keep up as he had to make sure his location was always hidden, it seemed as if there was a secret door that went somewhere. It was huge, somewhat similar to the one in the Sacred Grounds. Behind the door was an entire complex system that had many lanes, it wasn't anything dangerous but figuring out where Nate was held would be an issue.

The stretched-out and narrow hallways were made in such a way so that it would be easy to spot an intruder. However, what was unusual was that the lit was dim, weirdly so. Even if the group that he was following split off, and didn't turn around, Luke had another problem to deal with. The brightness continued to decrease the further he went.

"J-just.....what...." he stuttered. He wasn't in the game anymore, meaning darkness was his weakness here. Luke cursed his luck once again, it was the worst possible timing, it was one of the most important moments of his life, he couldn't screw this up. After all, who knows what the kidnappers would do to Nate.

The main corridor was empty, however, Luke could sense that the second he took a turn he would face off against enemies. It was a trap. To fool invaders that assumed this place was empty. He had three choices, to either continue straight, left, or take a right. Going backward simply wasn't a choice, it was out of the question.

"Ple...ase... not now...not you too...please..." he fell to his knees, it was a safe spot, so there was no issue. However, it was the worst possible time for his fear to overtake his body. That was his friend in there, his best friend.

It wasn't completely dark but his mind slowly began playing tricks. You should know that when you're afraid of something, it always finds its way to you. Always. "Nyx.....pl-ease...." he choked on his own voice. His eyes were wide open and tears constantly flowed. His hands gripped his temples, he couldn't lose Nate no matter what. It was similar to when Noel was in his room alone. The only difference was that Luke hadn't lost his friend yet.

The surroundings got darker and darker, to the point where he could see absolutely nothing. It was similar to his dream, the one in which he had a weird conversation with someone. The resemblance was almost uncanny, the shade, the eerie silence, the fact that his fear didn't overtake him in this realm.

He was calming down, but it wasn't particularly helping him. The entire situation was unexplainable. "Pleading won't work. It never will. You were asked to prove yourself, not cry. You are required to be worthy of the bloodline, not tarnish its image. Is it a coincidence that the most important moment is when something stands in front of you? Think back and answer me," a familiar voice spoke.

"......" Luke was in no shape to answer anyone or anything. It was one thing after the other, the rollercoaster was just too much for him. He looked around to see who it was, but once again, the person was nowhere to be seen.

"Answer me, child," the voice demanded.

"W...who are you..." Luke managed, after struggling to get up to his feet

"Foolish," the voice replied and the next second he fell back down, completely wasting all the energy he put into standing up.

"I don't know....I don't...I really don't...I have to save him.....please....." the pain in his voice was visible, the desperation. The thirst, the need to achieve something. The absolute determination to reach something that can never be touched. It was blatant. He wasn't overcome by the fear of darkness anymore, at least not at the moment. The fear of losing his friend was the only thing that echoed through his mind.

"Then save him. Get up and lead. Grip the darkness in your hand. It is you and you...are it. Be worthy of carrying the Forbidden blood, be worthy of being called the Night. Arise, my hero, for you lead the future, not from the light, but from the dark. Call forth, look into it and feel it tremble under your gaze." the voice continued getting louder and louder, the passion vibrated through the air, the voice reminded him of who he was, and who he was supposed to be. Luke shut his eyes close as he could feel some kind of a burning sensation in them. Was it the fact that he had purple eyes? No, it had nothing to do with that. The burning only got worse as the voice continued talking.

"See through the unknown, there remains nothing that doesn't tremble before you. Olympus falls in your hand as you take your place on the throne. Prince of Darkness, I urge you...

....Arise"
