"But…but I can't do it" Vlass denied it still.

Severus stood up and walked behind flustered Vlass. He patted his shoulder in affirmation as he said. "You are more than capable so don't hesitate."

He turned around and was going to exit but stopped when as he placed his hand on the knob "I believe I you Vlass."

He left after saying this.

Everyone present there was stunned.

Desella, who was the first one to come out from a daze, quickly chased behind him.

After Desella, Selena and Gui Song left too, leaving Vlass alone.

He sat there for a long as if he was turned into a stone. It was not easy for him. Things turned so suddenly that he still was having difficulty accepting reality. He admits he wanted to exact revenge on Marquis but not Maverick.

He was not blaming Severus. However, he had raised Maverick like his own child. Since childhood, he made sure to do anything in his capabilities for Maverick. After all, he was the only son of his beloved sister. His beloved nephew and who was no more. The reality was hard, but grieving was useless too.

Now things have come to a state where they can't be changed.

Vlass understood everything.

He knew it would take time but someday he will be able to turn things for good.

Wouldn't he?

Of course, he will as Severus believed in him.

"Cynthia..."

It was enough for him that Severus believed in him because that means that Cynthia believed in him too.

"I guess I should really gear up myself" As he motivated himself, he was filled with new energy, A feeling of independence surged deep inside him.

He too left the room.

The night passed away and soon it was dawn.

Severus was already ready with his tiny bag. He was all covered with his black clothes with a conical hat on his head. To everyone's surprise, there were two tiny bells on his cap that tinkled whenever he moved his neck.

It looked cute on him.

A tiny bird was perched on his shoulder. Just like Severus, the bird also had her customized necklace. A thin gold necklace with a bell in the center.

Desella panted as she chased Severus.

She put her hands across her chest as she angrily glared at him.

"Where are you off to without taking me with yourself?"

Desella was silently sleeping inside her bedroom when she was woken up due to horses in the stable.  She thought it was odd for them to make noises so early in the morning. Earlier she didn't pay any heed to it but as she went back to sleep, she was jolted awake with a sudden realization. She quickly went to Severus' room barefoot to check on him and just as she predicted, he wasn't there.

Her heart dropped and she quickly ran toward the stable with all her might. She really was afraid what if she missed him. She ran as fast she could together with her anxiety. Her pace only slowed down when Severus was standing near the stable.

Tears formed in her eyes.

"Are you planning to leave me?" She questioned him.

[ I told you to tell her, but you didn't. Now deal with her] Noworry shrugged it off.

Severus smiled goofily.

"Aye my dear Desella. You are early today?"

"Of course, I need to be or else someone was leaving me behind" She rebuked him.

[Guess she is angry]

Severus scratched the back of his head as he played with his fingers.

"Ah, Desella. There is something that I want you to do?"

"What?" She said through gritted teeth.

Witnessing everything that was happening now, in the morning, she was partly aware of what he wanted but how can she allow it.

No, she won't.

"Desella I want you to stay here…"

"So, you are leaving me?" Even before he could finish what he wanted to say she yelled at him.

"Why? Do I become a burden for you? Or you don't like me? What is the reason for you to leave me behind? Or perhaps you don't need me because I can't do what a woman could do? After all, I am just a will, nothing much. A fleeting matter in the vast universe…. Mmmmm"

Severus did not give her a chance to finish her talk and pulled her tightly in his embrace as he kissed her in between her talking. It was not a peck but a deep kiss. A kiss that signified trust and wait. A kiss that was pure and filled with longing.

After Severus saw that she had calmed down he backed away and slowly parted away but he did not let her go. He touched his forehead with hers and breathed on her. He traced her face with his fingers while Desella felt small tingles inside her body. An emotion that she thought she would never get to experience was finally felt by her.

Shuss

"What nonsense are you thinking inside that little head of yours? I am not leaving you. How can I bear to leave my little Desella here, all alone? Believe me, I don't want to, but I need to. Even if it is painful for me, I need to do it. Don't you dare ever think that you are a bother to me. You never were and you never will be. I don't care what others think nor do I care about you being a will. What kind of a man do you think I am? Do I look like a man who craves for a woman's flesh?"

Severus was really hurt when Desella uttered those words.

Desella saw pain inside Severus' eyes. She suddenly felt guilty for saying all those nonsense because she was aware that Severus was never a jerk. Given what he did for her despite her being a will was something she was always grateful to him.

In her past life, she was betrayed and suffered whatnot. After her death, she was prisoned inside a hell which led her to believe that kindness and humanity didn't exist. But everything changed after he came into her life. He was just like a warm fuzzy bear who snuggled close to her when she was dying of coldness. He was her savior who helped her out at every point and never looked down on her. He didn't care what her past was and accepted her as she was. He accepted her true form.

Severus didn't know what was going inside Desella's mind or else he would have flicked her head saying, you think way too much'.

"Desella you are my precious friend that I don't want to lose. I myself don't know where I am heading to, but I have a hunch that it would be dangerous. I can't let you go with me when I'm not aware of the danger level. I am afraid I won't be able to protect you so this time I need to go alone."

As Severus was telling her about his upcoming journey, he noticed that at some point in time Desella started crying silently.

"D... E…. S…. E….L.. L.. L…A"

"If you are going to cry like this then how am I supposed to leave?"

"Then don't leave" She barked.

"…"

"You know I can't do that," Severus said with a sigh.

"Severus How can you expect me to allow you to go on such a dangerous mission alone? What has happened to you? If I will be there at least, I can protect you so take me with you Severus" Desella desperately pleaded. Her tears soaked Severus' chest and they still didn't stop coming.

"It is the exact reason I am not taking you with me Desella" Severus said with a deep voice.

Everything he said was truthful and sincere.

"I know that you will do anything to save me. Even if it means putting your own life at stake. I have seen this once and you did it too, but I can't allow you to do it a second time."

"Why? What is wrong if I protect you?" Desella nearly shouted.

Severus smiled calmly. "Nothing. It is totally okay for you to protect me."

"So why are you not taking me with you?"

She was really clingy and desperate at this moment.

"What kind of man would I be if I let you fight for me. This is not your battle Desella and I still haven't forgotten about my promise. Did you perhaps?"

Desella didn't know what bullshit Severus was uttering. She waited for him to continue with curious eyes.

"I promised you to give you a wholesome life. I promised you to make you feel like a real human, so I am going to fulfill it. What is the use of my necromancy power if I can't help my dear friend" Severus grinned?

Desella was certainly surprised after hearing this. Her grip on his collar tightened as she gritted her teeth. "Promise me you will come back alive in one piece or else I will hunt your soul until eternity and shred you into pieces by myself."
