Since Mu Jin stopped going to work at the bookstore, he was taken back home by Gao Tianchen in a firm manner.

Malt had grown up considerably. Its fur was shiny and well-groomed. It was very excited to see him come back. His little tail was wagging, and he stuck his pink tongue out and drooled all over Mu Jin’s hand.

Everything at home was the same as before. Aunt Chen was taking care of the household chores, so Mu Jin just lay around doing nothing every day to nurture his baby. If he was too bored, he would carry his book around the backyard for a while in the sun and stroll around for a few steps. He usually did not go out.

However, Mu Jin refused to allow his family to visit him. Gao Tianchen was very puzzled by this, but Mu Jin refused to say why.

Yesterday, he took Mu Jin to his maternity check-up. Gao Tianchen was worried that the fetus in his womb would be affected because he had not received good care and nutrition while he was away, and his body was weak.

Fortunately, the report showed that the fetus was normal except for its small size, and the due date was about a month later.

There was a rare excitement in Gao Tianchen’s heart. The child who had fused his and Mu Jin’s bloodlines would be born in a month or so, and it was rare in every way.

It was midnight when Gao Tianchen emerged from the bathroom after his bath. His long, sturdy body was wrapped in a wide white bathrobe, and his black hair was still dripping with water.

Mu Jin was half reclining on the bed, a soft pillow placed behind his waist. The dim light over the bed wrapped around him. His eyes were downcast, his long eyelashes like wings, between his legs, was a book. His slender white hands were casually flipping through it. The heavy sheets were wrapped around his huge stomach, forming a nice bulge.

An inexplicable flutter arose in Gao Tianchen’s heart as he dried his wet hair and sat directly beside Mu Jin.

“What are you reading?” The blanket was warm. The person beside him was still flipping through the book in his hand, and Gao Tian Chen asked casually.

“Nothing, just flipping through.”

On Mu Jin’s body was the faint scent of gardenia flowers. Gao Tianchen could smell the sweetness, which spread from his nose to his heart.
Turning to his side, he carefully took Mu Jin into his arms. It was like the other person was a fragile porcelain doll.

Resting his head gently on the soft warmth of his partner’s belly, he could still feel the slight movement in Mu Jin’s belly through the blanket. It was their child.

Mu Jin’s body froze for a moment. He then relaxed into a soft half-leaning position, allowing the person in front of him to feel the baby’s activity.

“There are some matters that need to be dealt with at the H City branch. I’m going to be away for half a month.” Gao Tianchen still rested his head on the front of his belly, and the slight vibration when he spoke caused Mu Jin’s stomach to tickle.

“Rest well and wait for me to return.”

“Mm,” Mu Jin gently moved away from him, his tone gentle, “I’ll wait for you.”

It was late at night, and Mu Jin put down his book as Gao Tianchen turned off the light over the bed. He pulled the quilt over him and covered him up.

Mu Jin closed his eyes. A strange trepidation and uneasiness somehow emerged in his heart, quietly taking over his mind.

It’s okay. It’s only half a month. It will soon pass.

Reassuring himself tentatively, he closes his eyes but does not feel like sleeping.

It was late afternoon, and Mu Jin had just had lunch. Perhaps he had eaten a little too much, and his stomach was a little bloated, so he wanted to go for a walk in the backyard.

The weather outside was gloomy, with dark clouds hovering in the grey sky. Gao Tianchen had been away for almost half a month, and his mood had been as unpredictable as clouds of smoke during this period, always inexplicably apprehensive.

I guess he would be back soon.

He was not a strong man, enduring the torment of pregnancy, but he could not help wanting to have something to fall back on for a short while.

The original swelling in his lower abdomen seemed to be mixed with a vague, dull pain. Mu Jin reached out and gently rubbed his abdomen. His fingers made gentle circles on it to soothe the pain. After all, since he had been pregnant, the abdominal pain had been intermittent. He thought it would pass after a while as usual, so he didn’t pay too much attention to it.

It looked as if it was going to rain soon, and with it, Mu Jin’s mood grew more restless. The pain in his abdomen began to intensify. Mu Jin was breathing heavily, holding his back and clumsily planning to go back to the bedroom to lie down for a while.

As the months progressed, Mu Jin’s limbs swelled up a bit, especially his legs, which were so big that he was unable to fit them into his old shoes.

His legs were a little weak, and with his huge belly in front of him, he could barely see his legs.

The pathway winding through the courtyard was paved with flat marble slabs. Yesterday’s rainstorm had washed over the pathway, and somehow the edge of one of the slabs had been upturned by a small margin.

Mu Jin’s vision was blocked by the bulging belly, and he did not notice the potential danger ahead of him and stumbled. His body dropped down uncontrollably. He fell on his knees and collapsed on the cold, hard marble slab.

The child in his belly jolted with the fall. Mu Jin only felt the pain in his abdomen suddenly intensify. He braced himself on the ground with one hand and clutched his belly with the other in front of him, gasping for breath.

A cold sweat oozed from his forehead, wetting the hair on his forehead. His legs were weak and trembling. He was unable to remain on his knees and felt a sensation of pain, unlike anything he had ever felt before. He was in a state of confusion, and his mind was a mess.

A very scary but realistic thought crossed his mind.

He was afraid that he, in fact, going into premature labour…
