Harry Potter's Catastrophe

Chapter 327: Department of Mysteries, Ministry of Magic

They walked through the hall and came to the end of the main hall. Carney took off the crystal pendant from his chest in advance and gave it to Professor McGonagall. He could not bring this magic item inside.

The only thing that can be brought in is the wand, but it still needs to be checked, not only the person, but also the wand.

Anyway, Professor McGonagall handled it for black magic last time. Carney didn't know how it was checked, it might be like Muggles going through security check on a train.

There is a desk on the left side of the end. There are only two things on the desk, a long metal bar and a single-plate balance scale. Next to the desk is a floor sign that says "Safety Inspection".

The person doing the examination was a slightly slovenly wizard, wearing a blue wizard robe, with a jagged beard on his chin, sitting at the table with a listless look on his face.

Carney could clearly see that there were tiny yellow solids in the corners of his eyes. Carney guessed that he must have messy hair under his wizard hat, but he might be bald.

"Come here." The sloppy wizard glanced at the badge on Carney's chest and said.

Carney stepped forward, and the sloppy wizard picked up a metal rod as long as an arm, but it was very thin, only the thickness of a wand.

He swept it from the head of the carni to the sole of the shoe, and then from the heel to the Tianling cover.

"Wand." He continued when there was no response from the scanning wand, and stretched out his hand to Carney, who took out his own wand and handed it over.

"It's really short." He couldn't help but sigh as he took the wand. Carney's wand was indeed short. Compared to other people's wands, it was one finger longer than his.

‘Short but powerful. ’ Carney did not say this.

He placed his wand on the single-plate balance scale. The machine began to shake, and then a small note came out from underneath.

He pulled off the note and read: "Seven inches. The core of the staff is a phoenix feather. It has been used for two years, right?"

"Yes, this is really amazing. You can actually know how long the wand has been used and what its core is." Carney said incredulously.

"Ha, it's a joke, here you go, it's so short. It's really rare." The sloppy wizard inserted the note into the nail and handed the wand back to Carney. Carney took back the wand with a dark face. The shortness made it clear.

Professor McGonagall took out her wand. She also needed to check it. The sloppy man swept it up and down casually and took Professor McGonagall's wand and started weighing it.

"Ten and a half inches. The core of the wand is a dragon's heartstring. It has been used for 56 years, right?" He read a small note.

"That's right." Professor McGonagall took back the wand.

It's incredible. Professor McGonagall has probably used this wand since she was a student.

After finishing, Professor McGonagall took Carney back to the hall. He followed Professor McGonagall towards the golden door. Through the door, they came to the elevator.

It is indeed an elevator room. There are at least twenty elevators, so the elevators all go upwards. It seems that they are on the bottom floor now.

Although there are twenty elevators in operation, it is still crowded. Every elevator going up is full of people, and the one on Carney is also full.

The ladder door is made of golden guardrails, and the iron chain on top makes a sliding sound.

"Seventh floor, Department of Magical Games and Sports." It was the voice heard from a phone booth.

When the seventh floor arrived, the golden guardrail opened and the wizards in the elevator did not move. Obviously no one wanted to go here. Carney could not see the environment outside the door because his height did not allow him to see.

The elevator door closed and continued upward. After a while, the sound sounded again.

"The sixth floor, the Department of Magical Transport, contains the Floo Network Administration, the Broomstick Management and Control Bureau, the Portkey Office and the Apparition Testing Center."

The elevator door opened, three or four wizards squeezed out of the crowd, and several paper airplanes flew in.

Carney looked up and saw that he didn't know what was written on it. The content was folded up and all he could see was the mark of the Ministry of Magic, an M. This was the mark on the letter Carney received.

"The fifth floor, the Department of International Magical Cooperation, includes the International Magical Trade Standards Association, the International Magical Law Office, and the British seat of the International Federation of Magicians."

The door opened, and a few more wizards walked out. The seats in the elevator were not as crowded as before, and a few more paper airplanes flew in. They were flying in the elevator mindlessly.

Click, click, click, the elevator rises again, it seems that the Ministry of Magic is not as deep as he thought.

"The fourth level, the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, contains the Office of Beasts, Aliens and Ghosts, the Goblin Liaison Office and the Pest Advisory Office."

A few more people went out, the elevator became empty, and a few planes flew out overhead, but more people came in than left.

"The third level, the Department of Magical Accidents and Disasters, includes the accident reversal team, the memory cancellation command and the Muggle Issues Mediation Committee."

Everyone on this floor had left, including the paper airplanes. Only Carney and Professor McGonagall did not move.

Are there so many magical accidents and disasters recently?

"Professor, which floor should I go to?" Carney asked, because he finally saw a row of elevator buttons. They were on the eighth floor just now. It was not the last floor, there was also the ninth floor.

"The next level." Professor McGonagall said.

The elevator continues to rise.

"The second level, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, includes the Department for the Prohibition of the Abuse of Magic, the Auror Command and the Wizengamot Administration."

It seemed that he was not going to the courtroom, so the situation was not particularly serious, so Harry should be treated specially.

Before the door opened, he saw several people waiting outside the elevator door. He knew three of them, Dumbledore and Fudge. Dumbledore didn't look good, and so did Fudge.

There was also one of Carney's juniors, the one named Tang, who was following Dumbledore with his head lowered.

? What's happening here? Carney was just stunned for a moment, and then pretended not to see him.

Looking at Dumbledore again, Carney felt reassured when he saw Dumbledore coming in person. Before, he was worried about how he would be able to argue with other scholars.

"Hello Principal Dumbledore, hello Minister, and hello brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, grandparents." The door opened and Carney greeted them with a series of greetings.

Fudge, the Minister of Magic, was stunned for a moment and said nothing. He just nodded indicatively. Eight or nine people behind him entered the elevator and smiled at Carney, but none of them said anything.

"Oh, you guys came just in time, I was worried about how to inform you." Dumbledore's frown relaxed, and then he forced a smile, "Let's go together."

"Where to go?" Carney asked. Is the problem solved?

"Department of Mysteries," Dumbledore said.

"Uh." I said, why do you want to run there? He just cast a spell.

Dumbledore saw the meaning of Carney's expression, stared at Fudge and said, "Because the alien visitors are indeed mysterious, they should be dealt with by the relevant departments."

Carney noticed that there was something wrong with the atmosphere between Dumbledore and Fudge, so he did not continue to speak, nor did he ask about the junior student named Tang. He quietly waited for the elevator to come down.

"The third floor..., the fourth floor..., the fifth floor..., the sixth floor..., the seventh floor..., the eighth floor, the main hall."

"Ninth floor, Department of Mysteries."
