I Became A System

Chapter 81 - The Ambusher

After being discovered, the guy who was about to ambush Ellena felt his knees getting soft. It made a trembling movement as he was surprised by what just happened.

It wasn't a big deal to be surprised by. The reason was in the report, she doesn't have any ability to make invisible attacks. Her ability written in the report was just about her having superhuman strength.

'It doesn't matter if I got discovered. This 'Masked Monster' will be a good catch to report!' he cried inwardly as he observed Ellena above him.

'She still doesn't know my ability.' he added before implementing his ability into the dagger.

'Taste my double piercing sharpness!' he exclaimed inside his thought as a smirk followed his act.

He acted to stabbed Ellena using his dagger, and light, following his attack like a mirror movement came after Ellena's back. The light had a resemblance of the dagger and as he got to stab Ellena effortless, he smiled.

Even though his movement was already reduced from the invisible attack that numbed his motors, it won't still hinder him to use his ability. After all, he's confident with his ability as he was famous in their organization because of it.

However, his celebration stopped when he noticed that the soft target he stabbed didn't bleed because it can't bleed anymore as it was only a large slice of meat held by Ellena by her side, making her not to be hit by the mirror attack too.

"H-How could you summon a meat?! Where did that come from?! The attack! Why did you know that you can be hit from the back?!" The ambusher hysterically cried with his words pronounced quickly.

Ellena just smiled and inwardly thanked Aaron behind her.

"Ah? Because it was useless. You don't know me so it's expected to be surprised." Ellena smiled eerily as she unsheathed her sword, dropping the meat from her hands. She pointed it to the ambusher, touching the tip of the blade on his neck.

The ambusher made grains of sweat. His heart started beating fast, realizing that his life is on the line. His hands also became a trembling source of his body, disallowing to move it appropriately.

Ellena tried to exploit the situation, as an idea came to her mind, she slit the thigh of the ambusher even though he couldn't feel anything from numbness.

"W-What are you doing?! We can talk about this! Please spare me!" The ambusher cried before Ellena who was just grinning.

"I really don't like people like you. Since you tried to attack me, I will include you in the category of my prey. So..." she prolonged her words and slit another wound to the other thigh of the ambusher.

"Please!!! Please!!! I'm sorry!!! Spare me!!!" The ambusher cried once again as tears started to blend with his sweats.

Aaron who was above the both of them can't stop chuckling. The situation is just what he wanted Ellena to try to learn. The cruelty of exploiting the situation to her benefit is something applicable in this world, thus, letting Ellena do it would benefit greatly her growth.

But little did Aaron know, Ellena is starting to build her own morals. Indiscriminately victimizing people isn't Ellena's thing, so, she decided to have a set of standards to gauge people for her Fear System.

A point started to emerge and Aaron excitedly collected it.

"Then... how about making a deal with me. If you tell me why you were trying to harm me, maybe I'll think of sparing your life." Ellena said with her voice in a playful tone.

The ambusher had a little hope in his eyes. He took a gulp and decided to tell what the reason was.

Points just slowly appeared that Aaron willingly collected. Because Ellena was continuously wounding the ambusher, the ambusher couldn't help but feel scared that he might lose his legs after this.

"I was hired and my client wanted you dead since it's endangering his reputation." The ambusher said in a fast manner.

'He, huh?' Aaron wondered.

"So... you are not part of the adventurers' guild? Then... where are you from?" Ellena asked while keeping her sword pointing at him.

"I can't tell you... I'm going to die if I disclose it to you." The ambusher said.

Ellena sighed, lowered her stance while she was looking at him eerily.

"It would be bad, I guess... But you know... I despise you people. I could just say that you are a criminal, right? It won't hurt my morale if you die."

The ambusher quivered in fear once more, higher intensity than earlier.

"P-Please... I-I have a f-family to feed..."

"I also have a territory to help."

More points started to appear above the ambusher's head and it overjoyed Aaron as the number hit 5.

And as it already has been plenty, Aaron can't keep the excitement and wanted more of it.

'This would benefit Ellena greatly!'

Ellena couldn't help but pity the ambusher as he mentioned his family to feed. Can she make an exception just this once?

Ellena was starting to have a second thought if she's going to exploit more points from this scum. However, unbeknownst to her, the ambusher starting to regain his senses and also feeling unbearable pain.

The ambusher slowly moved his hands to his back where another dagger is hidden. Right now, that his legs are starting to be felt, making him have the confidence that he can make a clean stab at her.

Inwardly, he smirked. Ellena wasn't paying attention to him and only to her thoughts.

But Aaron was fiercely observing him, thus, he knows that the ambusher had another plan.

"Ellena, that bastard has something behind his sleeves. He has another dagger behind his back." Aaron said.

Ellena came back to reality after hearing Aaron's warning. 'I'm sorry I spaced out.'

Ellena created threads of lightning and hit the arms of the ambusher with minimal energy. It was enough to make him feel numb in his arms.

He was surprised, widening his eyes and his lips quivered in fear.

Talk about it? It's obviously bullshit for Ellena.

Ellena just made another creepy smile and hit him with her daggering eyes. Seeing it, a tremendous amount of points appeared.

"You dare to? The audacity. Even trying to have my sympathy from using your family. I bet it was all a lie." Ellena mumbled before slicing his head away from his body.

Blood gushed out violently as the head dropped away from the body. The body slowly fell in Ellena's direction. She just moved back to dodge it.

After it, she stood up and wiped her sword.

"How much was it? Did we earn plenty of points?" Ellena asked as her eyes came back to the excitement and looked at Aaron above her.

Aaron nodded.

"Yes. And it's strikingly 10 points. You cleanly pointed out his fear of blades. Great job Ellena!" Aaron said as he analyzed the background fear of the ambusher.

Since the beginning, Aaron started to feel that the ambusher was scared when Ellena was slitting his thighs. Thus, when he felt the aura of the ambusher having a phobia from Ellena's cruelty, he immediately concluded that the ambusher's fear blades pointed at him.

But why can he still use a dagger as his weapon? It was a coping mechanism built by his brain to cope with the fear from blades. So, if he can inflict an injury to someone with his dagger, he can feel the happiness that made him decide that instead of fearing blades pointed at him, why wouldn't he point it to someone instead?
