The Blue Eyes

Chapter 171 - BLUE'S SUSPICION

["Let's have lunch together!"]

Kris smiled after he finished typing and sending the text message to Kevin.

Earlier, he giggled joyfully after he listened to his lover's voice note. He was bored in the apartment alone, so he sent a text message to his lover. He didn't expect that his lover would send him a voice note as a reply.

He knew that his lover was working in the laboratory, so recording a voice note like that must be challenging. He just wished no one heard his lover when the latter recorded the note. If someone heard him, then his lover must be embarrassed and wouldn't ever send a note like that again. That was not good for Kris.

"Kris." A cute sound suddenly called out his name. He turned to his side and found AZURE walking stiffly toward him.. "Have you finished doing chores?" The robot asked.

Kris sighed as he put down his phone on the coffee table. He then leaned his back against the back of the couch.

"Now, I look like a wife instead of a husband, right?" Kris asked annoyedly.

AZURE made a stiff laughing sound, which sounded weird in Kris's ears.

"I thought you were a wife all this time, Kris," the robot replied when he had stopped walking near Kris's legs.

Kris widened his eyes as he straightened his back again. "Don't you have eyes to see? I'm taller and more handsome, so I'm the husband!" Kris argued the robot.

The blue-eyed robot didn't immediately respond as it suddenly showed an article on its screen.

Kris frowned when he saw the article. "What is that?" He asked.

"Don't you have eyes to read?" The robot countered Kris's sarcasm earlier.

Kris fumed as he flicked the robot's forehead, but to his dismay, he was the one who felt the pain on his fingers.

"Dummy, Kris! You are a normal human now, and you don't have the power to bully me!"

Kris just glared at the robot, but he didn't rebuke. AZURE was right, after all. He was just a normal human without special powers. Not that he regretted his decision, of course.

"I'm not stupid," Kris replied. "I know that the roles in gay relationships are not determined by the heights or the looks! Just keep the article for yourself."

AZURE laughed again as it removed the article on its screen. Its blue eyes gave Kris a mocking look.

"Sometimes, you have to let Master top you, Kris," the robot said casually.

The tone was too casual for Kris's ears, but it made him flinch in surprise.

"You even know about that kind of thing?" Kris asked in disbelief. "Kevin always regards you as his innocent son, but you are the real devil!"

AZURE just laughed again as it turned around and walked away from Kris. "I'm innocent in Master's eyes, and you can never change that fact," it said without looking back at Kris.

Kris just scoffed as he shook his head. The robot was unbelievable. Kevin believed that the robot was an angel, but he was sure that the robot was the real satan. Kevin just had not seen the true color yet.

Choosing to brush off his thoughts, Kris then stretched out his hand to grab his cellphone again. He looked at the screen with hopeful eyes at first, but then he looked disappointed when he saw no new message there.

"Why didn't Kevin reply to my message? Is he busy?" Kris started his monologue as his eyes kept staring at the phone. "I want to have lunch with him. Doesn't he want it too? Or, he already has a plan to have lunch with someone?"

Kris kept questioning, but no one answered the questions. AZURE had left him alone in the living room, so the robot didn't even tease him for his misery.

Kris sighed and was about to put down the phone on the table when it suddenly vibrated. He thought it was Kevin who called him, but to his surprise, it was Blue.

"Why is she calling me now? She's supposed to be in school now, right?"

Kris was puzzled, but he still answered the call. He was worried if something bad happened to his niece.

"What's up, Blue? Aren't you supposed to be in school now?" Kris asked his niece on the other end of the phone.

"One of the teachers couldn't come today, and he just instructed us to work on some worksheets. I've finished them, so I decided to go to the rooftop to call you."

Kris's eyes widened in surprise. "What are you doing on the rooftop? You don't want to jump, do you? You didn't call me to let me know, right?" He asked in a slight panic.

"You watch too many dramas, Uncle," the girl replied while chuckling. "The rooftop is safe. It has a high railing, so you don't have to worry. I just want to enjoy the breeze."

Kris finally could heave a sigh of relief. "I don't watch any dramas," he denied the accusation. "But, why did you call me, Blue? Is there anything you want to talk about with me?"

Kris could sense that Blue didn't call him just for fun. He guessed that the girl had important things to discuss with him.

"You and Jack looked friendly to each other yesterday."

The statement stunned Kris. He didn't expect that Blue would initiate a conversation about Jack.

Kris, as the girl's uncle, was not stupid to sense the girl's feelings for the tattooed man. He ignored it at first, but as the days went by, he could feel that the feeling got more obvious and was hard to be ignored.

That was why he asked Jack about Blue yesterday. He just wanted to know whether his niece still stand a chance with the blonde man or not.

But to his dismay, Jack just considered Blue as a sister. Now, Blue was trapped in the sister-zone.

"You still there, Uncle?" The girl asked after she got no response from her uncle.

Kris blinked for a few seconds just realized that he kept quiet for quite a long time.

"I'm here, Blue," he replied. "Jack and I had a nice chat yesterday. It turns out that I just misunderstood his intention. He just wants to be friends with me."

Kris decided to cover the whole truth from the blue-eyed girl. He didn't want to hurt Blue with the fact that Jack like him instead of her. He also hid the fact that Jack only saw her as a sister.

"I'm glad to hear that, Uncle," Blue replied. "I and Brother Kevin don't need to witness your fight anymore, right?"

Kris smiled bitterly at the girl's question. He felt bad for lying, but it would be worse if Blue found out the truth. Blue was having her final exam in a month, and the girl needed to focus on her exam. That was why Kris decided to cover the secret for now.

Moreover, he had no right to reveal Jack's secret. If Jack wanted to let Blue know about that, then the tattooed man was the one who had the right to tell the girl. He would just stay as a bystander.

"Uncle, I also want to discuss another thing with you," Blue broke the silence. "I got satellite imagery with a higher resolution, and when I zoomed in the imagery, I found some car wheel trails that headed to the buried valley. I think it's suspicious."

The conversation turned serious again, and Kris put on a solemn expression. "You suspect that there's a suspicious activity in the buried valley?" Kris asked.

"That's just my hypothesis," Blue answered. "We need to discuss it with Julia as well."

Kris nodded even though he knew that Blue couldn't see his movement. "Do you have someone in mind, Blue? I mean, do you suspect anyone?" The caramel-haired man threw a question again.

He got no response from Blue afterward. He checked the connection of their phone call, and Blue was still there. Blue must be thinking right now.

"If it's about Chilad, then I have someone in mind, Uncle. But I'm not sure whether it's true or not," The young girl finally answered despite a hint of uncertainty in her voice.

"Can you tell me who that someone is, Blue?" Kris asked again carefully.

He could hear Blue sighed before answering, "I suspect Teacher Felix, Uncle."

Kris didn't expect the answer, so he was startled when he heard the answer. Blue seemed to be respecting the teacher a lot, so it was unbelievable that the girl suspected the teacher.

However, they couldn't ignore any possibility. Blue must have a reason for her suspicion.

Kris got up from his seat and walked toward the bedroom. "You have to explain your suspicion later, Blue. I'm going to see Kevin now. He knows more about your teacher, so I will try to talk to him about it first," he spoke as he opened his wardrobe and grabbed a soft blue cardigan.

"I understand, Uncle," the girl responded. "I need to go back to the class. See you later, Uncle."

The girl hung up even before Kris replied to her goodbye. He just shook his head while putting the phone into his pants pocket.

He then grabbed his wallet and car keys before walking out of the bedroom. He was going to have lunch with Kevin today.
