The Latest Game Is Too Amazing

Episode 62: Suspected Hero 3

The last place the killer was sighted was where there was no escape route, as Raphael said.

The room where the killer escaped is like some kind of warehouse and deserted. There are large bottles and boxes in the warehouse that are likely to be hidden by people, but they've checked all the contents. Raphael's story says there were traces of water left by the killer on the floor, but it looks like it's already dry.

Raphael was also checking the room all the way, but he didn't see anything strange. The soldiers of the Kingdom of Castal are also used to investigating cases. I was never out of hand. It is also natural to be cautious when it comes to suspecting Caios, known as the hero of another country, even though he is a civilian, and if he has a clue that leads to the killer, he cannot be so overlooked.

However, Raphael heard the contrasting appearance of Vuivre with the thought of straw.

"Did you find out anything?

"Kind of. It still smells the same as before."

That said, Vuivre sniffs around and goes in front of a big bottle. There's nothing unnatural about the bottle with water in it from the outside.

But Vuivre said confidently when he stopped wearing the smell.

"Uhm. Perhaps the killer must have been hiding in this bottle"

"Is that true? And yet there's water in this bottle. No matter how big a bottle a person enters, they can't hide."

"Right. It wouldn't make sense for a normal person to hide."

It also suggests that the killer is a non-human possibility.

"Not just a few, but there's a mixture of non-human odors. I couldn't be sure because my nose would get dull in this body, but I figured out what the killer would be if things got this far."

"What the hell is that?

"It's a demon. Probably made a pseudo of what Kaios looked like."

Raphael also knows that demons are pseudo, and has bitter memories. Anyway, when I fought Elder Trent, Trent was mocking the trees in the woods and he was attacked by the army. There's no way he could forget about it when he was leading the army.

"Please wait a moment. I've never heard of a demon or anything that could do such a pseudo. I know it's not the vampire's fault. Is it a demon unknown to us humans like vampires?

Trent looks like his original figure was mistaken for a real tree - because he was a demon with a face in the tree, it would have been easy to make a pseudo if he hadn't moved around, but it's not that believable, such as turning into a complex person figure.

"I don't know if it's famous or not, but it's slime. The body of the slime is made of something close to liquid. You can't notice if it's in a bottle of water."

"I know about Slime, too. A terrible demon that captures and digests into your body what comes close with demons that live near the water. But I'm not intelligent, and I've never heard of being able to change my appearance. If that's the case, it'll be a hell of a deal."

Slime is a famous demon. If all of this can be simulated by humans, I don't know how many demons lurk in the country impersonating humans.

"You're in a rare species. That's all intelligence is required when it comes to advanced simulation. Enough to be able to talk to people. Then there's not that many of them. My concubine has only seen such a slime in her life for a long time because she can only count. I'm rather surprised you're still alive."

Raphael relieved himself of Vuivre's words. If it's true that there are many demons that can be simulated by humans, it's more than a homicide. When the folks found out about the vampire countermeasure, even though it had just finally begun, they suspected that their neighbors were demons, and the nations were about to plunge into chaos.

"I didn't know Slime was the killer...... This convinces me why the murder scene broke into the Chamber of Secrets."

"Because the body of the slime is liquid and can change freely. The gap between those windows that humans can't get through has gotten easier."

The window at the murder scene was only slightly open. If you can freely change the shape of your body like a slime even in a non-intrusive gap in a human being, it's easy to intrude.

"Then this case..."

"Perhaps the aim is to put on the crime of murder and bring Kaios to an end with human hands. It would be a trap set by demons. You can't act nasty if you shut down the worst Kaios. You've decided that Kaios is blind to demons because of his palliative hands. I've prevented the demon from invading many times. It's natural for demons to be on the lookout for fornication."

From the demon's point of view, Kaios is the central figure who has been interfering with the invasion of humans. Let's just say it's the most obstructive. It is visible that it will obstruct us in the future. Then it could be said that it is a very natural flow to hit the elimination of the person.

"Very rarely since I came to this maukt have I felt signs that Kaios was being watched by someone. Then I couldn't identify who was watching because my senses were dull in this body, and because there were so many humans, I thought someone in the human race was watching about Kaios. Slime lurked in the royal palace to imitate what Kaios looked like and would have been observing Kaios the whole time. So I grasped Kaios' relationship. It looks like he was targeting the most convenient person suspected of being the killer."

The person who publicly insulted Kaios would have caught the eye of Slime.

"Then it's still in that bottle?

"No, you don't seem to be here anymore. Probably lurked for a while and fled into a gap that took my eyes off me."

"Yeah, what do you mean?"

Since just now, Vuivre has been checking the perimeter, but there are no signs of demons. Already after the demon escaped. Raphael also regretted having overlooked the fact that he no longer thought there was a demon lurking in the bottle.

"But didn't this prove Kaios' innocence?

If the killer is a demon, Kaios is innocent.

But Raphael shook his head at random.

"Let's be strong circumstantial evidence. But we must reveal the identity of Lord Maelis in order to make it powerful. To put it to the extreme, it is also possible that the demon was not involved in the murder just because it broke in. You still won't have to actually capture that slime to overturn the witness statement."

"Trouble."

Unless we find the real killer, there will be no results. If it was the body of a dragon, I was confident in finding the real killer, but in this body, I have a worse sense of smell than when I was a dragon. If there are demons nearby, we can find them, but finding them in just wide clermones breaks bones.

Rafael questioned Veuvre before he began to worry.

"Besides, if the demon tried to sin against Lord Kaios, only one problem would arise. I can't imagine that the demon didn't realize it when he planned such a handful of things to plunge Lord Kaios."

"Problem? What?

"If Slime impersonated Lord Kaios, it would naturally be Slime who killed the victim. Demons if slime no matter how rare species they are. If it's not different from slime, the victim's body should probably be undead over time. If we are not to be undead, that is what must have been done with the victim's body in a variance. But the victim's body just broke his neck bone. This may not be enough."

"Oh, yeah. It's still a curse."

Vuivre told me to throw up.

"Weird. If the body goes undead, they'll realize it was the demon's work. And yet you left the body? Then I wonder if Mr. Cairos can't sin without being a demon."

No matter how much you try to sin, the fundamentals of the plot are broken if the killer is known to be a demon. There was too much inconsistency in whatever it was.

Vuivre thinks, and realizes.

"Lord, I just told you that the killer who impersonated Kaios had deliberately caused the victim to scream to witness his appearance to the guards."

"Yeah."

"Maybe that was an unexpected event for Slime."

"Unexpected?

"I wasn't going to let the guard hear the victim scream, but I was wondering if you were going to kill the sleeping victim so he wouldn't be undead, and then let the guard notice and discover the case after that."

The killer has the purpose of rubbing the sin against Kaios and must have the guard mistakenly identify Kaios as the killer. If you want the guards to misconstrue that Kaios is the killer for sure, it would be most effective to have Kaios witness the moment he kills the victim.

There is a reason why you didn't dare to do that. Vuivre wondered if he was going to work on something at the murder scene.

"You've been scratching it all along. The secret chamber mystery. Using the characteristics of the slime to break in unnoticed by the guards, it turned into a Chamber of Secrets. I can see this. But if the killer wants to impersonate Kaios, it's counterproductive. You don't have to create a situation that makes it harder to commit a crime and leave a mystery behind. If Slime had broken into the room, it would have been better to open the window from the inside first and let him think that Kaios had broken in from there, and one mystery would have disappeared."

One of the reasons the investigation was actually difficult to navigate was that the room where the incident occurred was a Chamber of Secrets. If I can't solve this mystery, I can't explain how the killer broke in. From there, there is no ex-child or ex-child when they suspect that Kaios may not be the killer.

"But the sleeping victim woke up, noticing the slime and screaming. Because of that, the guards rushed faster than Slime assumed, and the plans went crazy. Probably hurried to kill the victim. Maybe the excessive effort to break the victim's neck was also to definitely kill the victim. I didn't have time because the guards ran away. I'm sure he was planning to dispose of the body after he killed it so it wouldn't be undead."

"Then it seems no surprise that the victim was chosen or that the body was excessively damaged. So they thought it was because they had a grudge against the victim."

Even if Kaios himself wasn't resentful, he was the victim of repeated words and actions that seemed to buy resentment from others. It will be enough to make you turn your suspicious eyes. Slime laid eyes on it. It has to be said, in a way, that it's the end it deserves, but it's too miserable.

"If we keep this up, we'll all realize that Kaios isn't the killer. For Slime to sin against Kaios............, disposition of the body!

If the victim becomes undead, the premise that the human caios are the killers will be covered. Then naturally the body must be followed. Slime, the real killer, couldn't have noticed that.

"Where is the victim's body? ⁉"

"We will dispose of the body so that it will not be immediately undead if it is a demonic offense, but we have not yet disposed of it because it was thought to be a human offense. This way! Let's get Slime before he disposes of the body!

Raphael leads Vuivre to the storage area of the body. When he reached the room where the body was located and opened the door to the room, the hot air blurred Raphaels' cheeks.

"Shit, was it too late ⁉"

There was a flame burning in the room. You oiled the body. The flame momentum is intense and I can't rush over to the side of the body.

"You're going to bury the body of every room! Fire! Get some water!

Raphael calls for a guard. The guard follows Raphael's instructions and hits the extinguishing activity.

Vuivre decided that it had not been so long since the flames had burned. Then there may still be a slime nearby. Mix with the burnt smell and follow the smell of a thick demon.

"There he is! Over there!"

There was something like a puddle ahead where Vuivre pointed his finger. But even though it is an unnaturally flat place, it leaves the room like water flowing down a ramp.

"It's still slimy!

Vuivre screams.

Raphael threw his sword into the slime at the same time as he saw the slime.

"Kuh, you still can't!

A sword pierces the body of the slime, but it slips out so as to draw it apart. If you knock down the slime, it won't work with just a sword.

Slime hid himself in the ditch where he met nearby.

"Damn, have they escaped? But I didn't know you were running through this drain. That's why we can't find the killer."

The slime didn't catch on to Maukt's security was not just simulating his appearance to a human being. Using its freely transformable body, it was hiding in a narrow place like a drain that humans could not get through.

"What happened to the body?

"I seem to have disposed of it with so much in mind. Exactly. If the body gets so damaged, there's no chance it's undead."

The flames in the room are likely to quench the fire, but you didn't want to leave absolute evidence. The body has severe burning damage.

Slime has already accomplished his purpose. Then you don't have to stay in the royal palace anymore. You must have used this drain to escape.

But it's not all over.

"This drain leads to the city's sewers. I'm sure Slime is running in there, too. If we go after him now, we might make it."

"That's what I'm saying. If it's a sewer, can't you find a slime in the sewage?

The sewer in Maukt's basement is stretched all over Maukt. It will take some time to escape from the sewers that have entered into it to the outside of Maukt. However, where there is water everywhere, the sewer, is a great escape for slime. If the slime had escaped into the sewage, it would also involve the danger of overlooking it instead of catching it already.

Normally, the Raphaels wouldn't be able to catch them. But there was someone here to sniff out where Slime was.

The sun was starting to set around here. There is time to time limit. I already know who the killer is. I'm just one step away from reaching it. It's still early to give up.

"Let's go, to the sewer! My concubine will find out where Slime is!

Raphael himself led his men toward the sewer with Vuivre in case Slime showed up in the city through a drain and instructed his men to intensify the city's patrol and monitor the sewer exit.

"Ugh, just don't stink"

Vuivre pressed his nose against his face. Even though my first body was tentative, whether my sense of smell was sharper than that of humans or the smell of the sewer seemed irresistibly spicy.

"Do you know where the slime is because of the smell?

"It's a little harsh, but if you get a slime close, you'll see."

"Okay. Let's go to the back of the sewer."

There are several tributaries to the sewer and it is strewn beneath the city, but there is only one major mainstream that leads out of Maukt. In other words, if the slime goes through the sewer and out of the maukt, it must go through its mainstream. The Raphaels follow the mainstream and rely on Cantera's lights to go back through the dark darkness.

The sewer also smelled of demons other than slime. But the smell itself is thin.

"Do other demons also live in the sewer?

"Yes, but once the Cavaliers mobilized the Adventurers for an investigation and exterminated the demons because a group of people were using them underground during this time. There must be no other demons for the time being."

I mean, if it smells like a stronger demon, that's likely the slime.

Running down the sewer aisle, the wind was blowing from the end of the direction of travel even though it was underground. The boundary between the sewer and the outside is provided with an iron lattice to prevent entry from the outside. Looks like the outside wind was blowing in from there.

I didn't end up encountering slime, and there's no smell left.

"Apparently, I could have gotten ahead of you."

"We also deploy soldiers outside just in case. Sewerage is a labyrinth that is intertwined and can get lost even in what you are used to. I don't think it's that easy to get out of the slime either. We'll seal this place off while we can."

There was a soldier with a potato over an iron lattice. It's already midnight, so I'm going to miss the slime in the dark, except around Tamaki.

There were many divisions as we got here. It's a sewer stretched all over Maukt. It boasts a considerable size.

We could have come this far in a straight line without hesitation, for one thing, if Raphaels had the lead. Keeping Maukt safe, they were totally tapping the sewer route into their heads.

"Wait, something's coming."

Tensions run together in the voice of Vuivre.

"Knights Commander!

A soldier from the Kingdom of Kastal approached him with a voice under the Raphaels. I had a feeling that Raphael was not a mess because he was out of breath.

"Slime has appeared all over the city! Soldiers who were guarding the whole city are tracking us, but we might be able to escape. We can still make it now. Hurry to the city!

"What is it? ⁉"

I also had my men guard the city in case, but Raphael didn't expect Slime to escape into the city.

But instead of being upset by it, Vuivre doesn't move one while staring at the soldier.

"Well, I see. Wouldn't it be hard to think about it? But I don't eat those hands anymore."

Vuivre laughs invincibly at the soldier.

"Lord, get that man! That's not slime!

When Raphael was annoyed by Vuivre's voice, he struck the soldier with his sword. The sword is less handy and sinks into the soldier's body.

"You slime, you impersonated a soldier!

Raphael, who was about to be fooled in danger, waved his sword as he moved forward.

Whereas the soldier's body was cut with a sword, blood broke out, and when he changed his shape, he transformed into a mass of water shaped like a man without a face.

"You're sure you can simulate it to a human. Apparently, all of Lord Maelis' reasoning was true."

However, when he realized that it was not easy to escape the Raphaels, who were waiting for Slime, he tried to trick the Raphaels into leading them to the city.

I can't tell the soldier from the way he was. If this happens, the guards will mistake Slime for Kaios. Besides, it wasn't easy to find people who could speak the language if they didn't run off into the sewer and get lost in the city. Raphael sweats cold. I would have missed this slime if it weren't for Vuivre.

The pushed slime also seemed to have led to the sum, but the action went backwards. Now Slime has exposed himself to what he can simulate to humans, proving with his own deeds that Kaios is innocent. It was a chronic act because I didn't think humans would see through their fiction.

Slime rocks his body like he's upset. Push back with force the sword that deeply cleaves your body and pulls it out of your body. It seems that the slime can freely harden the body. The victim's neck bone broken would have taken advantage of this. It seems to be more powerful than I imagined, contrary to its soft appearance. With that in mind, Raphael drew his sword intact.

Raphael distances himself from the slime. The impression of Rafael, who is never an alarming opponent but actually confronted him, is slightly stronger than a normal slime, but not as strong a demon as Elder Trent. And there was only one, not more than one. Available in water-resistant leather bags for capturing slime. All you have to do is block Slime's escape route and catch him.

The slime then altered the shape of the body, producing multiple thin tentacles. Make it look like a whip. Shake it. Raphael played his tentacles with his sword. Apparently, he's hardening his tentacles. The tentacles are not directed solely at Raphael. The tsunami hits those who were near the slime.

"If it wasn't for this body, I wouldn't take a back when such demons!

If it's full, this level of demons can be defeated by a single blow. But I'm not a fighter now. Vuivre shouted with a shame as he managed to avoid the tentacles.

"Lord Maelis, get behind me!

(i) Following Raphael's voice, Vuivre turned behind him. Raphael cuts off the tentacles of the jetty as he pushes furiously. But Raphael couldn't cut off all of the countless tentacles. Raphael's armor snaps, and his exposed skin is carved with lacerations.

(Did you see it wrong like this?)

Raphael was underestimating Slime's strength. One tentacle at a time is no big deal. But I can't say how unharmed Raphael is when he's exposed to countless tentacle attacks.

Not to mention Raphael standing up and defending himself so that his tentacles don't extend to Vuivre. Raphael's soldiers have also been attacked by tentacles and the situation is worse than that of Raphael. It was difficult to cover Rafael with all my hands about myself.

I'm not going to be able to stand the onslaught of slime forever. At least we have to miss a safe place in Vuivre alone.

The moment Rafael's stray occurs, the Veuvre behind Rafael suddenly pops up, exposing his defenceless body. Some of the tentacles that were attacking Rafael change their target to Vuivre.

Raphael and Vuivre's gaze overlapped trying to scream about what -. Raphael devours his teeth at the sight of the powerful Veuvre.

Vuivre is slapped on the cheek by his tentacles and falls to the stone floor. A glimpse of her appearance, Raphael cleaved all the tentacles that struck her with force, employing a gap made of dispersed tentacles. The severed tentacles fall flat and swoop around. Slime's body fluids were scattered from the torn surface instead of blood.

The tentacle movement of the slime becomes dull. And the shape of the slime appeared smaller than when it first appeared.

The slime seems to be able to freely change the shape of the body, but the total amount of moisture in the basic body remains the same. If you lose them all, Slime will die.

And the tentacles are thinner than the body of the slime, and Raphael's sword breaks the tentacles. In order to protect himself, Raphael couldn't do everything he could, and realizing that his presence was pulling his legs, Vuivre dared to focus Raphael on fighting Slime by endangering himself.

Rafael sees Vuivre without distracting himself from the slime. She had a red muscle on her cheek and it wasn't intact, but it doesn't seem to be a big scratch.

"I see, that hurts. It's totally inconvenient with the human body."

"They're totally unscrupulous!

Raphael roughed up his voice at his fuzziness, which forced him to make such a decision on Vuivre and his opponent to protect, who threw himself in danger, no matter how much more than the limits would come if he remained a guardian.

Raphael cleaves the tentacles of the slime one after the other as it is. The number of tentacles was shredded and the behavior of the slime switched as it lost its own fluids. Let Raphael kill all the tentacles he was turning on the other soldiers. It didn't happen to this that Raphael was slammed against the wall.

Raphael, slammed against the wall, has air coming out of his lungs. Consciousness remained, but even Raphael stopped moving for a moment due to pain.

Rafael is the only one who has the skill to break his tentacles. In other words, Rafael is the only one who threatens Slime's life.

Now that there is nothing to threaten, it is a good opportunity for Slime. After swinging his tentacles wide enough to keep the soldiers away, Slime tried to escape to the sewage.

"Damn, don't miss it! Someone!"

Rafael desperately tries to catch the slime. And Vuivre also jumped into the slime.

But Raphael didn't reach it, and Vuivre grabbed it. Then Slime's body slipped through.

Repentance dyes the faces of Raphael and Vuivre.

Just before the slime went into the sewage, a glowing hand stretched out that was neither Raphael nor Vuivre.

"No, you made it."

"The Lord is ⁉ why are you here ⁉"

What an Oliver it was that dragged out the slime that jumped into the sewer. Slime was thrown as far away from the sewage as it was.

Slime tried to escape to the sewage again, but there was something to block his way. Soon the men in their coats surrounded the slime.

The men of the coat are costumes similar to Oliver's coat. Raphael thought he was probably a church official.

Oliver stands in front of the slime through the men in his coat.

"No, I'm impressed with the enemy that demons have infiltrated people's homes so far."

But -. Oliver stopped his gentle face and showed his anger shapes.

"It is difficult to forgive that sin, such as putting a dignitary of the kingdom in your hands and even hands on women and children. Mercy begs God."

At the same time that Oliver was finished, Slime pointed his tentacles at Oliver.

Oliver's rigid arm grabs the tentacles. Fast and as intense as Raphael's armor snapped, the blow was stopped by a rigid arm. As far as Oliver's expression goes, he hasn't given him any itching. And I won't let go with my tentacles grabbed all the time.

A sharp glance shoots through the slime. In an attempt to escape Oliver's restraint somehow, Slime put out countless tentacles and tried to pierce Oliver's body.

but Oliver catches all the tentacles when a thick arm that should also be called a rigid arm can move smartly. The slime is also faint and I can't do it anymore.

And Oliver pours his strength into his hand as he breathes heavily. Then what do you think? Oliver's arms glowed.

Apparently those glowing hands are harmful to the slime and I can't slip them out of my hands like a Vuivre. Vuivre realized that glowing hands were vaguely a form of enhancement by Mana.

As the glow of Oliver's hand increases, the sound begins to snap from the body of the slime. From what I saw, the body of the slime started to bubble with spills and raise steam. How painful. Slime changed shape dramatically, creating a form that occasionally suffers in a person's face.

As the light that dazzled the dark sewer slowly lost, the scattered slime was no longer moving. Body fluids in the body are mostly evaporating and squeezing as if they were bags with lost contents.

"Are you dead?

I asked Oliver, who Raphael probably would. His expression returns to his usual soft face.

"No, I just made you weak. Mr. Rafael, I've asked you to capture this slime."

"Ha, thank you very much. Lord Oliver."

Stuffed slime inside the leather bag he was letting his men carry, Raphael finally lowered his head. Oliver cures the mess of his coat when he nods satisfactorily.

Vuivre stared at Oliver with a strange look on his face.

"Lord, why are you here? I'm not saying it was a coincidence."

An underground sewer is no place for anyone to break in like a coincidence. Because the entrance is stuffed, and no one goes through anything without permission. Not to mention that Oliver is a church person. No matter how much you belong to the Temple Knights of Castal, you do not have the authority to enter the sewer without authorization into the kingdom that manages this sewer.

"Didn't Lord Oliver know that Lord Kaios was not the killer?

Rafael doesn't think Oliver got into the sewer without permission. Through such imposition, there will be a crack in the relationship between the Kingdom of Castal and the Church. He thought that perhaps the Church had requested and obtained permission from the upper echelons of the Kingdom of Castal. There's only one reason Oliver bothered to get permission to enter a place like this.

But when he understood what this meant, Vuivre was offended by the color of his voice.

"Lord, you've been keeping tabs on the concubines, haven't you?

Otherwise, you can't get to the point where Slime is the killer. Because unless we get all the truth about the case and follow the Vuivres around on it, we can't let them show up so conveniently.

"The matter is sooner or later. Let's wait until Mr. Caius is safely released."

Oliver turns back his heel and leaves. The leftover Vuivres could only blindly drop him off behind.

"Come on, it looks like they were dancing in the palm of my hand."

"… but this proves the innocence of Lord Kaios. Let's rejoice in it for a moment."

"…… um. Right."

The Vuivres followed the sewer with a faint look.
